Should make the shirt say "I <3 CUM!" CUM = Coach Urban Meyer
-
BTW - no one responded to my post about Mike Stoops potentially being Urban's DC. Here are the defensive rankings for Oklahoma when he was their coordinator... 2003 - 5th 2002 - 6th 2001 - 4th 2000 - 7th - NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 1999 - 3rd And here are Oklahoma's defensive rankings since he left for Arizona... 2004 - 11th 2005 - 37th 2006 - 19th 2007 - 19th 2008 - 58th 2009 - 7th 2010 - 33rd 2011 - 28th Some OSU reporters now contacting Stoops and here are some of his responses... For those who don't know, the Stoops family is from Youngstown.
-
He definitely came off as an arrogant ass without much to back it up but he's really shown what he and USC are capable of these last few weeks.
-
Will be interesting to see if Urban pulls any offers like Cardale. That would probably be a bad way to start off the Urban-Glenville relationship then again Glenville has been pretty shitty for players the last several years. And Kiel de-commited from Indiana a few weeks ago I think. Most think it's down to LSU and ND BUT his big relationship at LSU is with... Greg Studrawa. Potential OC for Urban here at OSU. And of course Meyer didn't want an OSU-Michigan rematch. He wanted his team in the game...lol.
-
Going to be yet another national title game that I barely watch. College football will be a lot more interesting in 2 years or so when OSU and potentially Michigan are running at full strength as well as USC.
-
BlockONation...lol. That guy is such a faggy douchebag. He's currently banned on Scout because all he does is steal info and not credit the source. I haven't seen Driskel as a transfer possibility from anyone credible yet. nevadabuck did say there is at least 1 Florida player who would look to transfer but didn't name that player or anyone else. Another rumor from over a week ago was that if Meyer was named the HC that he may go after Gunner Kiel at QB (#1 QB in the country from Indiana). This isn't going to be like OSU under Tressel where they put all their eggs in one QB's basket (Pryor "scared" QB recruits off for 3 years and now Miller is here with no one in between). Remember at one time Cam Newton and Tim Tebow (2 future Heisman winners) were at Urban's disposal.

Yeah, looking at the BCS rankings it would suck for Michigan to get in over Wisconsin or Michigan State. Obviously those teams fight for an automatic bid on Saturday but the loser shouldn't be punished for having the extra game against a better team. The loser should stay ahead of Michigan IMO but that probably won't happen. One of the downsides to having a conference title game.
-
No, because Stoops is like 3-5 in BCS games including embarrassing losses to Boise St., USC and WVU. I still haven't seen a legitimate reason for your hating on Meyer. Note I said legitimate. Saying he's a "job-hopper" (absolutely laughable) or thinking he might end up not being at OSU too long aren't legitimate. Oh, and speaking of Stoops, rumors that his brother Mike (was recently fired at Arizona, was a defensive assistant for his brother at OU back when they won a national title and played LSU for another) may be Meyer's DC here.

The "he needs his players" excuse would be kinda weak. Then again, I fully expect OSU to lose no more than 2-3 games next season. They could be pre-season top 15. 16 returning starters from a team whose last 5 losses came by a combined 25 points. As I've said, those can become W's with elite coaching which is what OSU is going to have now. And anyone considering a non-NC season next year a bust is an idiot. Plain and simple. There is a honeymoon period. It won't be very long and it won't be as forgiving as others but there will be one. And yes, as has been discussed several times here, Florida may be one of the top 3 states in the country as far as football talent is concerned but you have to go against 2 other big-time programs for recruits. Some kids just are Seminoles. Some kids just are Canes. Some kids just are Gators. I'd actually say Florida is at the bottom of that threesome. FSU and Miami were incredible in the 90's and early 00's. Yes, they fell off but that's because it's cyclical. Florida went in there and flipped everything upside down for a bit. Florida State is back to recruiting at a very high level now but might not have the right coach. Miami is going to be hurting for a little bit now from their NCAA thing. Florida has Muschamp but teams like Auburn and Alabama will go in there and pillage now as well as national powerhouses such as USC and Ohio State.

Did anyone else just starting raging when they heard "The Walking Dead returns in February?" I knew it was a mid-season finale and fully expected it to be done until maybe mid-January but... FEBRUARY? FUUUUUUUU Makes sense for AMC though. This will allow them to try and get more viewers for Mad Men which returns in March. Mad Men wins best drama every single year but it gets 1/3rd the viewers of The Walking Dead.

Fickell is one of the best recruiters on the staff but Urban is going to load his staff with a bunch of Luke Fickell's (and of course Fickell has the opportunity to be a Luke Fickell for Urban Meyer...lol). Urban Meyer might be the best recruiter in the country. He had multiple #1 classes in the country at UF and they included players from all over, not JUST Florida. He will go into DC/Virginia/Maryland and pull their best players (ie. Percy Harvin), go into Florida and take players at least as good as the players Tressel and his staff were pulling out of Florida, then he'll lock down Ohio as well. Hoke better make this class into absolute superstars because he's not getting kids like Kyle Kalis out of Ohio moving forward.
-
Are you trying to blame the spike on Miller? That call came from the sidelines. It's up to the staff to have a play ready and to make sure the players know that play. They lolly-gagged for 10 seconds or so then the sideline told him to spike it.
-
Yeah, regardless of the number of years, Phil got the point of the post. This is Meyer's destination job. Everything else before this was a stepping stone.
-
I prefer this post... http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1449777&postcount=635 From October 20th...lol. Granted he'll be officially announced today, he will be at the game tomorrow night.

Surprised there isn't a new thread already...lol. Now that's it's really, really, really real I'll spill the tidbit from nevada for alittlelessordinary... nevada got into a back and forth with a poster early last week talking about Urban Meyer stuff. nevada said something about if Michigan wins they should enjoy it because it's going to be a rough 15 years once Urban comes in. Someone said, naturally, "No way Urban is here 15 years. No way." nevada responded with... "He plans on 20. Not a guess." This is the job Urban always wanted, no matter what Domers would like you to believe. He's from Ohio, he coached at Ohio State, he carried a Buckeye in his pocket throughout his entire coaching career, has the Woody painting in his house, his dad who recently passed away was the biggest OSU fan in the world, etc., etc. He wants this to be his final job. Now what he wants and what he can handle may be entirely different but those are his intentions as he accepts this job.
-
There's a whole lot of mad people that OSU is getting their #1 choice after they tried to tear the school down for months.
-
Prepare to throw your cat because she kinda is in the comics.
-
True story...lol. Can't wait to tell you the little tidbit about Meyer's long-term intentions once he's announced. :lolguy:
-
It should be handed down within the next couple weeks along with Ohio State's final sanctions. He won't be hired by anyone before it's all final. And as for Fickell, there are some rumors (not nevada so I don't trust them as much lol) that he actually helped "recruit" Meyer to OSU. I don't think Fickell is dumb. I don't think he's as smart/wise/savvy as Tressel was, not even close, but I think he's self-aware and I think it's possible he knew he wasn't ready for the job and maybe he did help persuade Meyer to come in. I think he might be a little annoyed by how the Meyer story kinda took over OSU-Michigan week (pounding the table in the post-game interview when asked about it and also during the week saying "I know there's a game on Saturday and my ass is gonna be on the sideline" for example) but I doubt he's angry with OSU over anything. I think if he moves on it won't be "Fuck you, OSU" it'll just be him wanting to start his own path and maybe in 3 years when Meyer has a heart attack he can come in and save the day...lol.
-
They're tied for 9th with Boise St. in the AP poll. The coaches and Harris polls can't rank them because they aren't eligible for post-season play. That would be relatively annoying. Would be interesting to see how the NCAA would look at that. He's going to get a show cause. That's a guarantee. But maybe the NCAA doesn't punish Akron for hiring him like they would a Penn State or something. I know right now Fickell is a leading candidate for that job as well too. Part of the reason the Urban announcement wasn't today. Trying to give Fickell as much time as possible to decide between starting a new path as a HC or staying home in an assistant role for a while longer.
-
Should make you feel better. I pointed it out on the last page I think, OSU lost 5 of their 6 games this season by a TD or less. That's something that can be easily fixed by going from below average coaching to elite coaching.
-
They know Urban is going to bring the pain. :fuckyeah:
-
Hankins has basically played on 1 leg the last 2 weeks as well. That's why he hasn't shown as well the last 2 weeks. Also he got held massively a few times today as you mention in your 2nd point. I was lol'ing hard when they finally called Michigan for a hold on their final drive... then tacked on a personal foul. It was hilarious to me that they finally decided to call something so late. Meyer may be named HC as early as tomorrow. Probably no later than Tuesday. Tressel talked to the team before they got on the bus for Ann Arbor on Friday.
-
Let them enjoy it. Urban may very well go on another Tressel-like streak against them.
-
When did the Dispatch say Urban would be announced at halftime of the OSU-Michigan game? I know they're morons but that would be a whole other level of idiocy.
