Official College Basketball 2011-12 Thread
bicranium replied to TimTaylor751647545500's topic in Dumpster
27 NBA scouts and as many as 10 NBA players will be in the house tonight. Supposedly Lebron, Wade, Carmelo and Chris Paul will be there since Lebron's Akron homecoming game didn't happen (canceled due to NBA lockout ending). Going to be a crazy atmosphere. Can't wait. -
I can't imagine him not being there in some capacity.

Like I said the whole time this was being talked about the last few weeks, I don't doubt that there wasn't any direct contact between Urban and official OSU representatives until Urban and Bruce say there was. But there was plenty of contact between Urban's "people" and OSU's "people" before Nov. 20th. It was pretty obvious at the presser yesterday when Urban was asked about it. He had to think for a second and remember to say the Nov. 20th date...lol.
-
There's another poll vote from ESPN yesterday where the question was asking how long before Urban Meyer wins a national title at OSU. Every single SEC state except for South Carolina voted that he would never win one...lol. Nice little block of failure.
-
I don't think it was the ESPN cameraman. I read it was some lady near the camera. Passed out or, maybe like you said, had a seizure then collapsed and hit the camera. Lots of people who were listening to the presser on their radios said they were freaking out thinking it was Urban who they were calling the EMS for...lol. Yeah, he was off by one day over a month in advance. Dude doesn't know anything. :lolguy: Plus he never really "owned" that rumor. Any and all credit went to his "4th wiseman of OSU football" (most likely guess at who that is right now is Earle Bruce). Regardless, I was more or less pointing out that I posted the same info Big Chief posted about a month ahead of him. :gabe:

It's called Tresselball because of the overall philosophy. Like I said, Tressel had his hand in everything on the offensive side of the ball and his philosophy was largely not to put his defense in a bad position by screwing up with the offense. That was Tresselball. Unfortunately, due to this philosophy the margin of error was so miniscule that it led to exactly what it tried to prevent on too many occasions IMO. And yeah, Stoney is PUMPED about this. Meyer wanted Stoneburner BAD when he was at Florida. Stoney probably made a TON of money today with this announcement. He can do exactly what Hernandez did for Meyer at UF. 14 catches this season and 7 were for TD's...lol. From Stoney's twitter... Also a couple things before I hit the sack... http://i.imgur.com/UsoR0.png And my new homepage...

Kinda thinking they're going to stay on the farm the rest of the season. I wish they wouldn't but I'm thinking they will.

Bill Greene at Scout (very good connections to Urban and his people - better than his connections with Tressel and his people) said Urban is not going to cut anyone loose. And I'm sorry, that's just not true about Bollman/JT. JT had his hand in EVERYTHING but especially influenced the offense and the QB position but Bollman truly did call the plays. JT and the staff gameplanned together all week then come gameday it was Bollman. JT had veto power which he used sparingly according to the insiders on Scout. I think someone had the number at like 10% of the time JT would veto the play. That number may be high though. According to Urban at his presser it seems he'll run things very similarly. It's just his offensive philosophy and the offensive philosophy of the offensive coordinators he goes after (Studrawa at LSU is his #1 target, Chad Morris at Clemson is #2) will be very different from JT and Bollman. And the quote that is floating around about what Urban said in the team meeting is... Matches up pretty well with what Panduh said...lol.

He didn't though.

Pfft... October 20th, brah. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1449777&postcount=635

lol... it was the ESPN camera guy. I was watching the ESPN feed on ESPNEWS and camera went crazy then you just hear... "EMS. We need EMS. EMS in the back please." Urban was probably just like... oh fuck... at least it was him and not me... again. :gabe:

Read Pelini and Hazell but they were mostly just going through the motions to be able to say they did do a search (and Hazell gave them a minority candidate).

She named her mother and brother. They were probably the first to go in and I'm sure everyone on the farm knew they were in there. But Sophia would have been a very recent addition and Otis was in charge of that. It kinda looked like none of the others knew a little girl was in there when she emerged from the barn.
-
Smiley stories are the best stories.
-
I don't know if Hershel did know. They said when they went out to round up the 2 stuck in the creek that Otis used to handle that. He was dead before anyone on the farm knew they were looking for Sophia. I doubt they did a zombie census in the barn either. But, if they did know they weren't exactly advertising the fact that they were keeping walkers in the barn to Rick's group.

Right now 2013 looks like a 20-man class. That was a great thing under Tressel, he really liked keeping the classes even. Not too often would you see a class approach 25. I think there will be several transfers. I just don't know who. How many kids left Michigan when RR went in there? Like 15? Some kids just won't like not being coached by the guys who recruited them. Some kids won't like the new guys once they get some time under them (like Justin Boren eventually left RR after experiencing his garbage during practices/workouts).

Well Diamond, Davidson and Kozan aren't committed anywhere right now. They're going to have to commit somewhere...lol. Dodson is a Wisconsin commitment but there were rumors that he might flip pretty much right since he committed. He has a HS assistant who is a big Wisconsin guy and people think that had a lot to do with his commitment. Urban changes everything. Throw out everything you've heard for months. No idea who might leave.
-
On the OL OSU is already in good position with Alex Kozan and Nick Davidson. Could look for Jordan Diamond and maybe try to flip Dodson from Wisconsin. Put feelers out for Kalis but that ship has likely sailed. Right now it looks like there are technically 4 spots available. We'll see if any kids de-commit or get the axe from Urban. Then there will be natural attrition plus additional attrition due to a new coaching staff. That stuff normally happens after the bowl season though. Should be an interested 2 months. The 2013 class is going to be a monster. Top 3 is basically guaranteed.
-
Also on the note of recruits flipping/Urban interest, a 5-star DE out of Florida who is currently committed to Florida State will probably give OSU an official visit now. Dante Fowler.

I think all 3 of my posts that "count" are from my intro thread in "The Oven." I think posts in The Parking Lot don't count or something? And that's the only place I've ever posted outside of my intro thread. :lolguy: I'll put it back in my info on the left I guess.

Yep, I love Fickell and really respect what he did for the school and team this year but he's just not ready for primetime. If the rumors that he actually helped recruit Meyer to OSU are ever confirmed it will show that he knew it too which just raises that level of respect even more. And the names that have been tossed around for AD to replace Gene that I've read are Paul Krebs (from Ohio, was AD at BGSU when Urban was there I believe, got his master's in Athletic Administration at OSU) and Jeff Kaplan, current senior VP for development at Ohio State. He's basically in charge of any fundraising that OSU does right now.
-
A "confirmation" of sorts that Fickell is staying...lol... http://i.imgur.com/w7kD6.png Pretty awesome picture. Love how Fickell is just wearing jeans and an OSU shirt to a meeting with Urban, Archie and Rob Schottenstein...lol.
-
Well, OSU and Meyer may be a little annoyed with ESPN today. They went with the story before they were supposed to because they were mad that they got scooped hard by a bunch of "internet bloggers" by at least a week on one of their own employees. Some of the ESPN people are hating on Meyer for being "dishonest" about how he left Florida and stuff but I think you'll see all of the people on the college football side of the company are going to be pro-Urban.
-
Yeah, Heacock is retiring. He could easily jump into the NFL somewhere as a DL coach or maybe even DC if he wants to pad his retirement some. He's had offers. He never got the respect or recognition he deserved here at OSU and he's the coach I'm saddest to see go for sure.
-
Muschamp at Florida is REAL mad. He has heard rumors from his own players about other players wanting to transfer to OSU now and he is laying down the law. He will not release any of his players to transfer to OSU. So if anyone wanted to still do it they'd have to sit 2 full seasons. And Tim Hinton, current RB coach at ND, will be joining Urban in Columbus. Likely as the TE coach. And if OSU is invited to the Gator Bowl (against UF most likely...lol) they likely will accept. If they end up invited to Detroit to play Ohio... not so much.
