  1. I just don't think you can play that kind of game at Ohio State. Ohio State is an elite football program. One of the top 3-5 jobs in the country. Many would argue top 2. You don't just hand the keys over to a guy who has never even been a sole coordinator at any level and see what happens. Urban Meyer comes in with a real offensive staff and hopefully at least a few pieces from the current defensive staff and this team is favored to win the B1G next season. There's no down period if you bring in Urban Meyer or some other elite-level head coach. It's not like Hoke at Michigan having to repair 3 years of garbage. It's 1 down year due to suspensions and coaching adjustments.
  2. Never said going undefeated was a logical thought, said if Luke somehow, magically pulled off an undefeated season or maybe 1 loss, then and only then would he be very seriously considered for the permanent HC gig. The reason I think it's funny was because that was pretty much the standard train of thought before the season started. Now OSU has 3 losses and gets a playground football play out of 2 freshmen to beat Wisconsin and people are back to wanting to keep him. And I hate to break it to you but maybe you don't know the meaning of "cut your teeth." All of the guys you named had 5+ years of head coaching experience SOMEWHERE. Luke has never even been a sole coordinator. ANYWHERE. Woody had 5 years head coaching experience between Denison and Miami (OH) plus that was an entirely different era. Bruce had 7 years between Tampa and Iowa State. Cooper had 11 between Tulsa and Arizona State. Tressel had 15 years at YSU. It's not about how they did in their first year. Luke has shown multiple times this season that he is still very much learning the ropes and that is not acceptable for the head coach at Ohio State in this day and age.
  3. It wasn't. And I think it's interesting that people seem to be hopping back on the Fickell bandwagon after a game won by 2 true freshmen just making an incredible, unscripted connection. There was a very logical line of thought coming into this season with regards to Fickell. If he had the team go undefeated or something incredible then you absolutely have to consider him. Otherwise, this is Ohio State and you don't cut your teeth as a head coach here. Thanks for keeping the boat afloat this season in a very trying situation but... this is Ohio State. BTW - there is a new piece of coaching-related info going around from the same guy who started the Urban/Duke information (again, wasn't "some kid on an OSU board"). Said not to be surprised if Fickell sticks around as assistant head coach. This was thought to be impossible for a few reasons but between the incoming coach supposedly wanting this and Luke really just wanting to stay home it has become possible.
  4. Really hoping the little girl shows up as a zombie and the mom gets eaten by her Night of the Living Dead OG style.
  5. First time it's actually been on Halloween in Pickerington that I can remember.
  6. lol... still hating on Braxton. Such a shame. Kid is going to be great by the time he's done here. I don't think OSU is anywhere close to the best team in the B1G right now but by the end of the season they actually could be crowned the champion. It's shocking to think about considering the ridiculous display of ineptitude we saw against Michigan State but it's possible.
  7. If I remember correctly he made a big hit in the Nebraska game then later went for another and had the big whiff on Burkhead which resulted in a TD. I know he's a small dude and I agree with LJ that he'll probably be pretty good when he's done. Just needs to make those big hits within the scheme of the defense. Lots of people hated on OJ after last season because he was something of a non-factor at safety but I'd rather have a non-factor than a negative factor right now.
  8. It's overall B1G record that determines division winners. So OSU has to win out and PSU has to lose one other than the OSU game for OSU to win the Leaders. So winning the Michigan game would be needed if Wiscy and PSU are sitting with 2 conference losses at the end then OSU would have the head to head tiebreakers there. Christian Bryant is a good reason for the defense collapsing...lol. He got absolutely lost in coverage on the loooooong Abbredaris TD to give them the lead. Had a whiff on the first Wiscy TD of the game too. Tried to arm tackle a guy probably 50-60lbs. heavier than him early in the game too. He's just a really bad safety who makes a few WOW plays that get people to like him somehow.
  9. 5% odds of making it to Big 10 title game are now up to about 33% IMO. Thankfully Indiana is awful because next Saturday would be a classic trap game against anyone with a pulse. Continue to improve against Indiana next weekend. @ Purdue could still be a little tricky. Then hopefully PSU picks up a loss in 2 weeks vs. Nebraska and OSU beats them to take the lead in the Leaders division. Then it comes down to beating Michigan. Scary though because if OSU does win out and go to Indianapolis... do they still announce Urban at halftime of the OSU-Duke basketball game with the championship game still to play? :dumb:
  10. They took a lot of shit. I'm sure they're each carrying some.
  11. 6.7 million viewers for episode 2 and the show has been renewed for a 3rd season. Number is down a bit from the premier but still higher than any episode last season. The 10PM encore had over 2 million viewers which is more than Breaking Bad (the best show on TV IMO) gets on average. Depressing.
  12. Was hilarious that OSU still made it to the national title game that season. Such a bad year of college football.
  13. Wasn't the actual score but I know what you're talking about. I remember how easily OSU scored on their first drive and Illinois was already looking down then they bust that big run and fumble it out of the end zone... had it been called correctly that probably would have been the game right there. I remember texting my Florida buddy about it the second it happened and said that the whole game changed on that play. He was just like... "Pfft... it's Ron Zook. You guys got this in the bag." Illinois also ran two illegal pick plays for TD's that game. I remember that was the first year of the BTN and they replayed that game probably 200 times between the end of the game and the next season because they didn't have much else. Would wake up and turn on my TV and go to the BTN and see that game on and just... :fuuuu:
  14. Wisconsin's SOS is rated higher than Boise's? lol They didn't play a team with a pulse until this past week and they lost. Tells you how bad Boise's SOS is. :gabe:
  15. Troy had an insane pass to Robo that I vividly remember in that game too. The best thing about the Gonzo run was the "double kill" Hartline had on the block that really got him into the end zone. Hartline was a MEAN dude in his supporting roles early in his career. Big hits on kick coverage and blocking.
  16. That's the exact same place I'm getting my numbers...lol. Not sure how you found 8-7 though because it's just not there. There have been 10 home night games in Ohio State history. And I was actually wrong. Forgot Tressel was here in 2001. So his home night game record is 3-3, not 2-3. But not 8-7 either.
  17. Yeah, recently they haven't been too good. Historically they're pretty damn good. And I didn't say all of them are against premier competition, but most of them are. Yeah, some of the shitty teams in the B1G try to pull a fast one on OSU by playing at night (Minnesota a few years ago, Indiana in 2009, Northwestern in 2004, etc.) but most of the night games are PSU, Wisconsin, USC, Texas, Miami, Iowa, etc. And I don't know exactly where you got that number but OSU hasn't even played 15 home night games in their history so going 8-7 at home under Tressel at night is impossible. OSU is 7-3 all-time in home night games. 2-3 under Tressel in home night games which goes with saying OSU has struggled recently in home night games. They were undefeated in home night games until that fucker Tressel showed up. Good thing we got rid of him. :dumb:
  18. They fucked up running into that building and locking themselves in too. Rule #22 of surviving Zombieland...
  19. To the first part, there are plenty of programs that could put up the wins Boise has with their schedule over the years. If the fact that they play garbage 90% of the time didn't come into the discussion then Alabama would join the Sun Belt and win a national title every other year. And OSU's record in night games... 36-19. Think it would have to be much closer to .500 to say they "historically struggle" in night games. Especially considering almost all of those are against premier competition. Regardless, Wisconsin may very well blow OSU out on Saturday night.
  20. Think we had the Boyd discussion earlier in the thread. It's crazy to see what he's doing and think he may have ended up here but with Bollman and Siciliano... probably be just as bad as anything we have now. And it's not politics. It's the fact that people don't think a team that plays 1-2 real games a year should get in over teams playing 5, 6 or more.
  21. Clemson already beat FSU. They still have road games against GT and top 15 Souf Cackalacka. Then the ACC CG probably being a rematch against VT. If they win out though they have a very sexy offense that will get people's attention. Really don't think there's any way the voters put BSU in over an undefeated team from a BCS conference so Boise needs Clemson, Okie St. and Stanford to lose for sure.
  22. Was a great win for the Buckeyes this week vs. BYE. Only completed 1 less pass than they did vs. Illinois.
  23. They probably won't which is why I put the odds at 5%...lol.
  24. Like I had said before, Wisconsin hadn't faced a real defense yet this season. First real defense they face and Wilson throws 2 INT's, gets an intentional grounding penalty in his own end zone for a safety and MSU blocks a FG and then a punt for a TD. Will be interesting to see what happens next week. Wisconsin could be mad and see a down OSU team as a way to take out some anger or they could be down on having most likely lost any national title hopes and show up flat against an amped up OSU team with a new life in them. OSU now controls their own destiny... win out and they're in the Big 10 championship game. Would put the odds of that happening at about 5% but that's infinitely better than the 0% it was before Wisconsin lost tonight.
