  1. Paul: Soo can we see doc in one in spring 2012? Doubtful. Like most object lust, I dream about it for about a day, then it fades. Right now my plans are for fewer possessions, not more. But that doesn't mean that I won't try to find one to test drive.
  2. Great job, Ryan. And to think, I remember way back when you bought your first buffer ........
  3. An American production car. Well, stranger things have happened (e.g., Cordell buys a Miata, Anthony and Tina start coming to Sawmill, CR gangs up on Hal). I'm loving what Ford is doing with this 2012 Shelby GT350: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012%20Ford%20Shelby%20GT350/110831074632CBA_7278_jpg_900x900_q100.jpg Supercharged V-8, 5.0 liters, 32v, 624 hp/512 lb-ft, 0-60 3.9 secs, 3926 lbs. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012%20Ford%20Shelby%20GT350/110831080243CBA_7332_jpg_900x900_q100.jpg First impressions from Winding Road compared it to a Ferrari 428 Italia, but with this caveat: "See, both the Shelby and the Ferrari are fast—that is without question—but driving the Italia at speed is a bit like creating art on the road, while driving the GT350 is more like taking someone’s virginity. In their parents’ bedroom. With the lights on. So, while both cars are, to put it blandly, fun, the Shelby experience is far more tawdry, dirty, and chest-swelling than that of the stunning Italian." http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012%20Ford%20Shelby%20GT350/110831075337CBA_7296_jpg_900x900_q100.jpg http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012%20Ford%20Shelby%20GT350/110831084515CBA_7439_jpg_900x900_q100.jpg It seems to me that Ford is getting it right and is more than ready to give GM a good race. Here's the whole review: http://www.windingroad.com/articles/reviews/driven-2012-shelby-gt350-convertible-624hp/ And, if you can stand the minute or so of fluff at the beginning of this video, the ending is worth it: Enjoy! http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/2012%20Ford%20Shelby%20GT350/110831090805CBA_7582_jpg_900x900_q100.jpg
  4. Anyone interested in driving together from Cars & Coffee? I know my Saturday morning schedule now.

I'm good for Red Robin. It's still pretty hopping at 8:15 and not so easy to get seating, but I'll prolly drop by a bit later after the crying, fighting kiddies have been dragged out to the vans by their parents. Also, tonight's Fast & Furious at QSL, so I'll prolly swing by there first.
  6. Hey, Ian. I was wondering how long it would be before you took the plunge. Did you forget the pics? :nopics: I'd get some up. An intro without pics is like blood in shark-infested waters around here.
  7. Welcome, Troy. You'll fit in nicely here ..... lots of us like killing things like cars and delicious animals. I love Orient. It has that picturesque smoking park on the curve where Stahl Road turns into Mill Street. I hope you can make it out to a track day soon when your Nova is running again. You know what Nova means in Spanish, don't you? + rep
  8. You need to change the date in your title. It's Sunday the 25th
  9. He sent me to a few carpet suppliers who work with him, trying to save me money on the materials. However, after looking at a lot of products, I was pretty set on the brand and style I had picked out on my own at a retail store. However, Justin bought it lower than I could and passed the savings on.
  10. I hadn't realized he was the contractor who was involved in that, and am surprised ...... there may be more to the story, I don't know. I also know Jake and know that he's easy to work with and not unreasonable in his expectations. I hope that mess got resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. All I can say is that Justin did first class work for me and bid it well-below everyone else. I was very satisfied.
  11. Today Truckin (Justin Barr) did a carpet installation at my office/new clubhouse. It looks great. He was very professional, did what he promised when he promised. Utterly dependable in every way, and he beat every other vendor's price for the job. I highly recommend him. Barr's Carpet Service 614-507-7525 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/member.php?u=621
  12. This is coming up this Saturday, and the forecast is for perfect weather. I'll be heading over around 10 a.m. to set up for the car show ..... may even hit Cars & Coffee first and leave directly from there. Everyone's welcome to join the convoy. I've always had a good time at this event. Even if you can only be there for a few hours in the afternoon, it's still worth the trip. Test & tune will be open as well. Never seen competition drifting in person? It goes on all day. The finals (around dusk) alone are worth the price of admission.
  13. genus? I agree--a 2nd grader wouldn't very likely know that word.
  14. Great job nonetheless, Matt. Wait a minute ....... I thought this forum was only for street racers, yet you were on the track. WTF?
  15. We used to say Slip and slide with Powerglide but I don't think my 1961 Chevy Biscayne went quite that fast.
  16. Well, I was hesitant to do it at first, but you got me hooked.
  17. I'm heading to my garage at noon today to start cleaning my rides. I hesitated to post anything earlier because it looked like rain and I figured there would be no interest. However, it now looks like we may have a break from the messy roads, at least for awhile. If you need a space to clean your interior, I can make room and provide the basic materials. If you want to hand wash your car, got that covered, too. If you need to use the ozone generator for smells, it's available. Takes about an hour, and the car needs to be sealed during that time. It'll be a waste of your time if you haven't already shampoo'd the fabrics (carpet, cloth seats). I'm sure I'll get tired and sore and will soon start sitting around and smoking cigars. So you're welcome to come by and visit. Park in the front on the pavement and walk around to the open overhead door where you hear music. I'm not serving food & drink, but there's a McDonald's nearby. Also, the office area for the clubhouse is open, if you're curious. New carpet is coming this week and the furniture and such should be coming together before the end of the month. Sunday September 11, 2011, noon - 4 p.m. Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 104 (corner of London and Liberty Roads) Delaware, Ohio 43015 Call me for directions or if you have problems getting in the building: 740-405-5565
  18. I've got to disagree with you on that one, my friend. Water is okay. Leather cleaner/leather soap is okay. I suspect that dish soap is going to damage the leather. Josh, if you want, bring the car to my shop when you're ready to clean it. I've got Lexol leather cleaner and Lexol conditioner which I'll let you use. After you have it thoroughly clean, it needs to air out in a dry environment for a good while. Outside in the sun for an afternoon will work. Once thoroughly clean, keeping the leather cleaned/conditioned and keeping moisture out will prevent the mold from returning. Mold has spores, so I'd recommend you shampoo the carpet and clean any fabric surface in the car while you're at it. I'd also recommend shocking the system with an ozone generator to totally eliminate the smell.
  19. This is the image more appropriate for you, Mike: http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww30/pangerantugu/Gif/spral.gif

  21. I had my back to whomever did it, but trust me, Anthony yelling at him was the equivalent to a punch to the crotch. The kid was just being careless ..... I don't think he intended to scratch the car. But in the light of day this morning, there's a superficial scuff and a 1/4" long, very thin, but deep scratch that appears to be through all the paint layers (no buffing that out). But at car shows I'll hide it with a little bit of paint glaze. No more harm than just a rock chip. Regrettable, but not worth a punch. And I think the kid learned to be more respectful to other people's cars. Something funny about it all: Anthony roared at the kid, then the lightning flashed on cue and the wind came up strong, dispersing the crowd. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/326562217-631026.jpg
  22. I ask myself, how much money would I have to have before gold plating a car would seem like a good idea? My answer: at no point would that seem like a desirable thing ...... But then I remind myself of something I've told over and over to people who are envious of possessions: More money doesn't bring happiness. Incomes are like concentric circles: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/sg034_0600.gif The more disposable income you have, the larger the circle of things you can buy, but there is always another circle, just outside your income, of things you now want but can't afford. In other words, the more you make, the higher the price of the things just outside your reach which you convince yourself you need to be happy. A starving child just needs a meal to be happy. Fed but homeless people just need a place to sleep in safety to be happy. A yuppie behind on his credit card debt just needs the minimum payment money to be happy. Somehow this works it way up to people needing cooler cars, or faster cars, or more cars to be happy. Ultimately some Saudi prince needs to gold plate one of his many cars in order to be happy. In the concentric circle you're in, it seems to make perfect sense. In the circles larger than your own, it looks absurd....... I think it's a Zen proverb that says If you're not happy here and now, you'll never be happy. I would say that you've got to find happiness in the process, not the result. We spend much of our time preparing to live, when we should just live. Go ahead and chase happiness, which will always out-accelerate you and elude you at the final turn. Me? I just enjoy the drive, the sights, the people, the view.
  23. Those look fantastic! Your wife's a real artisan. I'll see if I can refer some business her way.
  24. Strong winds scattered the HD crowd just after midnight. As I drove towards Delaware on US 23, the sky was full of lightning, there were strong winds from the northwest and sheets of heavy rain. Lots of limbs down, but the road wasn't blocked anywhere and everyone seemed to have power. Definitely cooler here now.
