  1. I make no promises about that one part .....
  2. Post details if you're planning on The Pub. I need to find some excuse to escape the California relatives--I don't think they'll fall for the "I need to go home and sort my sock drawer" excuse that I've used for the last two years.
  3. It sounds as though he's making some progress--a miracle considering the therapy started 23 years later than it should have. The Wikipedia link above mentions some high tech devices tailored to aid people with this condition. I believe the first few hundred words I'd type out would be words directed at my idiot doctors who missed the diagnosis ..... words you wouldn't find in the Bible.
  4. In the U.S., perhaps a few thousand cases a year that are recognized. Who knows how many are not correctly diagnosed? Here is a reference to some notable cases: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locked-in_syndrome
  5. A type of "Locked-In Syndrome," this paralysis left this young man so completely paralyzed that he was believed to be in a coma, essentially what most people would call a "vegetable." But he was conscious, aware, the whole 23 years but unable to communicate in any way. A diagnosis missed repeatedly by his numerous doctors. I can't imagine the nightmare this must have been for him. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/belgium/6632518/Conscious-man-in-coma-for-23-years.html
  6. Methinks you are mistaken. But there are many flaws, such as these deep water spots and etching, which would take wet sanding to remove: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/IMG_3391.jpg
  7. Much smaller group than I had been led to expect. Less than 20 people, but a few interesting cars I hadn't seen before. Pizza/beer/pop and some nice raffle prizes made up for the small numbers. The Jax Wax seminar was a little long but had some interesting and impressive parts to it. The sales rep hooked people up with some good product deals, and gave us all a permanent promo code worth 10% off internet store prices. It was fun standing around joking with the 10 or so CR members who turned out. All in all, a fun way to spend a couple of hours on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
  8. I saw a lot of this car today at the car show. Very nice detail, Ryan. More CR members should be getting their cars detailed by you. This type of package is between 2 and 3 hundo at most detail shops around town.
  9. Getting food right before going to an event with free food. Your logic eludes me. I'm leaving on schedule. If you're going to be late, better to just meet me there at 1.
  10. I'm at the shop now, sprucing-up the Century. Problem is, the WRC wants to go to the show, too. Pick-up birthday boy and he can drive the WRC if he can manage not to drift it into traffic on US 23. Second thought, mebbe he should drive your Vette and you drive the WRC ...... it's a left-hand shift 5 speed, and that's bound to be too much for his hung-over ass to handle. I'll leave the garage around 12:30-12:45.
  11. Don't forget, those are your roots, Corvette-boy

    Ouch

Congrats on surviving into adulthood ..... I imagine a lot of bets were lost on that ever occurring. Shouldn't your sig be a slide-show of people's cars you've been borrowing, now that you don't actually own a running car?
  13. I realize there aren't many on CR who are interested in the import scene, but I thought you import fans might be interested in a car show today, Sunday November 22nd just north of Crosswoods at 1 p.m. It is sponsored by Jax Wax and is held at their distribution center off Flint Road, just north of Crosswoods/ I-270. I found out about it late last night .... I guess it's posted on the Honda boards. It's also a meet-up for the Columbus Sport & Import Car Club. http://www.meetup.com/Columbus-import-car-club/calendar/11760420/?a=cl Free food, door prizes, Jax Wax detailing demos. 196 Oak Street, Columbus 43235. For those familiar with the area, it's just behind the Flint Carry-Out. Take US 23 one mile north of I-270, turn right on Flint Road, then right on Park Road. The carry out is on your right. I thought I'd show up with the Century and show what an old school JDM looks like when it's all shined-up.
  14. Great hospitality as always, Kevin. Thanks for hosting everyone. The food and the stunt riding were tops! Best wishes at the new location.
  15. As vitriolic as some of these threads are, I'm wondering if mebbe some demolition derby events might be more appropriate ....
  16. I need a case of 13 oz. cans of Plexus plastic cleaner. I see that your shop stocks the small cans, but I need the larger ones. I'll pick up the order at the shop the next time I'm through.
  17. Welcome, Jon. Lots of auto-x people here and a few just getting started in it. I hope to see you out at some of the meets. + rep
  18. The coupon arrived today. Many thanks! + rep
  19. I just don't get this fascination with old Japanese cars. This is the U.S. V-8 End of story.
  20. Unless your most-likely spot to fire it is in a really tight space, I think a better choice over a hand gun would be a Remington 870 12 gauge pump with a short barrel, stock (not pistol grip), loaded with 00 buck. I bought a new one at Vance's a couple of months ago for $270 after rebate. Used ones are around for much less. I would not be too hesitant to buy used, as the gun is not prone to wear out easily with normal use. But a shotgun is no substitute for not practicing. It is perhaps easier to hit an intruder with a string of shot pellets than with a bullet, but ya still gotta aim. I figure if I miss 'em with all seven shots, I can still beat him to death with the butt. Seriously, firing at another human should be your last resort. The shuck-shuck sound of a pump shotgun alerts both you and the intruder that a life-altering event is imminent for you both.
  21. Any kid willing to come to a CR gathering (and patiently wait while a group of adults stand around and talk about cars) deserves to have some fun. It's amazing that something as simple as getting to steer a grown-up car being pushed around a parking lot can be such a treat for a youngster .... I hope my insurance company never hears of all the kids under the age of 10 who have "driven" the Lotus around
  22. Oh, ye of little faith ...... This is one graph that's sure to surprise anyone who wasn't at the dyno Brian and Scott went out for test drives in it to see just how the numbers translated into seat-of-the-pants feel for this 2000 lb. car. Brian, after the guessing's over, feel free to post the dyno sheet.
