I just finished getting the place ready for the season. Frig is full, heat turned on, fresh batteries in all the remotes, game and movie discs ready. Do we have four or more coming tonight? The wash bay is spoken for from 7-9 .... that is the only confirmed member so far. If we don't have four planning to come, we'll postpone opening until next weekend.

Outstanding accomplishment for you personally and for your team. No one is more deserving of this than you, Mark. -

So, in case you're new to the Hangout, it's an office and attached garage space on the south side of Delaware which becomes a cold-weather alternative to the Sawmill/Polaris parking lot meets. All CR members are welcome. In a room which serves as a free clinic two days a month, there's Foosball, a 55" screen TV with XB360 ready to go, Forza 4 with wheel/pedal simulator setups, Forza Horizon. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/lineup2.jpg There is an adjacent office for people to get away from the noise, if they so desire. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/office.jpg There is also a heated shop area for work on your car, but only basic tools available and no lifts. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/hangout/012.jpg Please do not bring alcohol or drugs on the premises. A good variety of non-alcoholic drinks are provided free. You are welcome to bring food along or order pizza for delivery. You're welcome to poke around my cars, but don't expect a museum experience. If a car or motorcycle is covered, then it is not mine; please be respectful and don't snoop. Stay as late as you want. Restrooms are on-site. Large bay windows allow you to keep an eye on your car from the office and waiting room. The front door will open at 10:00 p.m. The hangout is smoke-free, but you can smoke right outside the front door and use the smokers' station. Please do not throw butts in the parking lot or in the shrubbery. You can use e-cigs in the garage but not in the offices. In case you haven't been there, here are directions: Howald Industrial Park 320 London Road, Suite 101 (in Building 100, first building on left as you enter the park) Delaware, Ohio (across from the intersection of London Road & Liberty Road) the place is 14 miles north of Home Depot/Sawmill it is 1.5 miles from the large Jegs Warehouse at Route 42 and London Road If you are coming from Columbus, it's easy to just go north on US 23 to the first Delaware exit (South Sandusky Street), exit to the left but turn right on Sandusky St., then go about a mile and turn left onto London Road at the McDonalds. The place will be on your right just after the Delco Drive Through. If you are coming from Sawmill, go directly north on Sawmill Road until it ends at the Hyatts Road Roundabout. Turn right (east) on Hyatts Road, go into the village of Hyatts, turn left (north) on Liberty Road. Liberty road dead ends at the industrial park (turn left onto London Road, then immediately right, into the park). Questions/problems: Text me at 740-405-5565. I hope to see you Saturday night.

A video about 400West Rich: The Revitalization of Franklinton

Very kewl. I need to check out the area. Thanks for posting the video. -
I'm sure Anthony at Capital City Landscape can get you hooked up. He's a site sponsor. 614-588-2254

You could put it in the trunk on that Grand Marquis and still close the deck lid.
-
Yep, looked so clean that the proud owner decided to "display" it in the bank lobby. You Marquis owners are such a wild & crazy bunch, living right at the edge of being committed for a mental capacity evaluation
-
I use Mad Hatter. Yeah, they're still first-come, first-served. I always hit them first thing in the morning on weekdays and get excellent service. I can't speak for what it's like there late in day (I suppose there's a lot of variability). They've always given me the best price and very good quality work.

I agree with you, Scott. From some angles, the whitewalls really make the wheels "pop." These cars often end up in the papers and on TV. People just love 'em. http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/BankCrash_5272338_ver10_640_480_zps2229455f.jpg

The car looks sharp, Paul. You don't see many '08 Marquis that clean around Ohio, at least not at this time of the year ...... because most of them have found their way to Florida by November

Watch it, junior, or I'll stomp you with my walker.

You're always welcome. They will start again in a few weeks. Typically the Hangout opens Fri/Sat, around 9 p.m. until whenever -- a "winter substitute" for parking lot meets. We can't have weirdos like these cruising the streets unsupervised: http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/Hangout11-29-13_zps81e4d637.jpg

Thanks, but it's no effort for me at all. CR has helped me many, many times, and it's small payback.

For most of us, it's not quite that time yet, but the snow in the area this morning got me started thinking on the subject of winter storage. Again this year I have room to store motorcycles for CR members (only). The storage at the Hangout in Delaware is well-lit, alarmed, heated to above 40 degrees all winter, and has 110v available. You don't have 24/7 access to the bike, but with a day's notice I can let you into the garage to ride it on a warm January day or at least to start it and let it run 10 minutes. The idea would be for winter storage of running bikes only, with spring pickup by April or May. What this is NOT: --storage for your rusted old frame and box of parts that you hope to work on someday --storage for jet skis, trailers, cars, boats I suggest the following: Bring a bike cover or at least a sheet to keep the dust off the bike. Put fresh fuel and fuel stabilizer in the tank. Don't top it off. Bring a battery tender, or at least leave the battery accessable so that I can connect a battery tender to it every few weeks. Or, take the battery home with you and keep it on a tender. If your bike leaks oil, let me know so that I can put absorbant underneath it to save my painted floors. No gas leakers, please. PM me (or text me at 740-405-5565) with questions or to set up a time to drop off your bike. For those who haven't been to the Hangout, it is at 320 London Road, Delaware, in the Howald Industrial Park, Building 100 (first building as you come down the drive). Also, I have a year-round standing offer for members of the Armed Forces who are stationed away from home: You can leave your bike here for your whole deployment--just give me instructions on how often you want it started or whether you want a friend to take it out from time to time to ride it

to set your clocks BACK one hour. Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday, November 2 at 2 a.m. How many clocks to you have to manually reset? It seems as though I have to do a lot of them (27, mostly watches and cars), but I suspect someone here does more.

Intro 4.3/10 It's great that you want to learn (this is a good place for that), but what do you have to offer CR? What's done to the car? other than replacing the tire valve stems :gabe:

I'll just leave this here .... http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r445/martyr65/GrandMarquisAd_zpsd613bd43.jpg

I differ with some of the opinions here. I think it depends on which winter tire you choose. My winter-only Michelin X-Ice tires offer poor traction in the wet and sub-optimal traction on dry pavement. You can't beat them in ice or snow. I've driven for 12 years on (different sets of) these, and I've learned to use them for their intended purpose and to back-off considerably when off ice/snow. I've seen Blizzacks used all year round and never heard if they had compromised traction when not on ice/snow. Why not just use an all-season tire for the truck? From Consumersearch.com, commenting on the X-Ice: Performance Terrific for severe ice and snow -- but not the best choice for mild winters. Expect outstanding grip on ice and snow: The Michelin X-Ice Xi3 outclasses all rivals on winter roads in professional tests. But on dry or wet pavement that is clear of snow and ice, the Michelin's performance isn't as strong. It suffers from long braking distances in test after test. This is common for severe-winter snow tires, though. If you usually drive on cleared roads, consider a mild-winter performance tire like the very well regarded, but pricy Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 (Est. $225 and up) or the harder to find but more modestly priced Nokian WR G3 (Est. $120 and up).

Purchased. Prolly will withdraw from the world at least until May.

Yep, I'll be making a thread early in November. There's been some late season bike riding lately and I figured it was a little early for most people to be putting the bikes into storage. Grant stored his bike with me last year .... my guess is that he's looking into options closer to where he lives since he continues to use the bike on warm days in the winter. But of course he's welcome to bring the bike up again this winter--all CR members are welcome to do that. Watch for a thread in a couple of weeks, or if you're putting the bike away early, just PM me and I'll let you drop it off early.

CR Test n' Tune @ NTR - October 19th CR IS ON LANE 5
Doc1647545523 replied to MrMeanGreen's topic in CR Track Days
A bunch of us watched one of your runs from the "CR suite." I think everyone was impressed with the launch, Jones. I think you'd have me at the eighth racing the twins, even though I make over double your horsepower. Very fun day, although NTR could have been better organized and saved us some confusion ..... The Flying Spur ran terrible times, over a second slower than my previous NTR times. I'm suspecting issues with the pump gas I had in it .... at least that's the excuse I like best. Track was good and many CR members had very fast times on bikes and in cars. Thanks Anthony & Tina for your work getting this together. -

Gate workers are saying eighth mile only. Let's hope that changes.
