It's the cost of the tools, and the fact that I may use them once and never use them again. Scope mounting kit Combo - $99 Reticle leveling kit - 48$ Gun Vice - $94 Bore Sight kit - $50 So, I'm looking at around $300 at least in tools to do the job correctly. It does include the cost of the Torque wrench driver I am already going to buy. So, call it $250 in cost. Assume a professional gun smith would charge considerably less. None of this includes the cost of the parts. I'm a tool whore, so I really don't shy away from buying tools. But $250 in tools that I might never use again ... Maybe I will buy them, but if someone has them in a basement shop and will let me borrow the tools, or bring my stuff over and borrow the space that saves me the trouble of figuring out what to do with the stuff when I'm not using it.

I've been doing some playing around with the rifle. Learning to strip it down. I have found the stock to be fairly easy to adjust. Not as simple as the thumb wheels on the PRS, but to me it doesn't seem worth it to drop a couple hundred on the PRS when I already have this one. I think I'll stick with it. Does anyone have the tools to mount a precision scope? 30mm body. I looked into buying the tools, but by the time I buy a gun vice, the tools to lap in the rings, the levels, bore sight, etc... It's just not worth it. I would love to do it myself instead of taking it to a gunsmith.

I'm just getting into reloading. Makes sense to me with the new rifle and the new accuracy goals. I'm looking for a single stage press. I'll be doing primarily rifle rounds, specifically 6.5 Creedmoor, and 5.56 for practice. I really have nothing yet, so I'm open to all options. Not looking for high production rates, just slow and steady processing.

He's still got the 9" with the spool I believe. Not sure what gear set.

I've played around with it a little. It's not easy to adjust, but I guess that means once you've got it where you want it it'll stay there. I definitely like the way it looks and feels, but adjusting it sucks. I can see why people take it off and go with the PRS. The thumb wheels for adjustment look MUCH simpler to use. Well, I sold my AK (I still kinda regret that). The new gun in the house is a Ruger Precision Rifle. It's a version 2 in 6.5mm Creedmoor. I've added an Atlas Bipod and an Accu-shot monopod. I'll be picking up optics next month. I'm planning the Vortex Viper PST Gen II in 5-25x50. Other than the bipod and monopod my only modification so far is I 3D printed a single shot adapter to insert into the PMAG. I'm planning on starting to reload ammo. I can personally vouch for Joe's classes. I took a CCW class years before I joined CR. I decided to get my wife the class as a Christmas gift. I attended the class with her. It was far and above better than the original class I attended. Also my wife had trouble passing the marksmanship portion of the class due to some outside factors. We gave it a little time and rescheduled with Joe for her to retest and she passed. Joe has the mentality of a teacher and is dedicated to taking the time with each student to make sure they are comfortable with their knowledge and skills.

Tractor Supply has a 1 day (today) 20% off. They have a 5500 Watt Generac for 689.99 I have a provision to back feed my panel as well (220 outlet in my garage). This time of year just put your freezer items outside in a cooler. I have gas heat, so I just need enough juice to run the furnace electronics and blower. Once that is running then the well pump and the sump pump are the only real necessities after that. The major plan numbers look good up front. There has been a lot of discussion about the tax deductions for dependents. What about other deductions that are going away that will impact people more than savings helps? These are a few that I have found/heard about. Alimony will not be deductible (doesn't hurt me, but I'll bet there are people here that it will) Deductions for property tax will now be capped at $10,000 (I'm below that, but not that much) You can only claim a personal loss if it is in a disaster declared by the president. Moving expenses no longer a deduction. (if you changed jobs and had to move they were a deduction) Tax preparation is no longer a deduction. There was a bunch of noise about tuition, but looks like that has been cut out. Does anyone know of any more of the little items? I know there is more hidden stuff in there that probably makes any benefits a wash for me.

That's awesome! I was just talking with someone last week about putting together something similar for iRacing.

Talk is cheap. Right now all the ISPs are going to be gun shy about making any sudden moves. They are in the spotlight right now and everyone is staring at them waiting for them to do something. They aren't stupid. They are not going to do anything negative. Honestly, they'll probably eat some profits and do what they can to make things better. Then they can sit back and say "See? The world didn't end. Things got better." They'll wait till this all blows over and then start testing the waters in little ways that don't effect most people. Corporations are motivated by profit, simple as that. I have no problem with any entity working for a profit. That's simple business and capitalism at it's best. ISPs demonstrated that they could not be trusted to support a free and open internet. NN did not come about because they played well with others and didn't take advantage of their position. They absolutely did, it's been well documented. I don't have a problem with a company coming out with a better product and beating their competition fair and square. I have an issue with a company who can't beat the competition shutting them down. This is a car forum. We should all know the story of "Tucker". That's a perfect example of big business taking advantage of their situation to squash the little guy. At that time the automotive industry was the big deal. Now it's a digital world, and there are still little guys out there with good ideas. The repeal of NN will allow the ISPs to quietly shut those guys down, and we'll never hear about it. History is full of stories where companies chose profit over the good of their customers. Ford decided it was cheaper to defend the lawsuits over exploding gas tanks than it was to fix the problem. If corporations will choose profit over human lives then you better believe they will choose profit over consumer freedom.

No matter how you slice this it is a win for the ISPs and a loss for the consumer. What they have now is a much higher degree of control of how we as customers use the internet. I'm really curious long term how this will play out, but my inclination right now is that my internet consumption will decline sharply when I don't have the same choices I have now. For me personally that's probably not the worst thing in the world. I just don't much care for being dictated to.

Don't forget folks, that companies are people, and can have religious views (thanks Hobby Lobby). It'll be really fun when an ISP starts filtering the internet for their customers based on religious beliefs. Planned Parenthood sites blocked, no more porn, opposing religious sites (flying spaghetti monster) sites throttled or blocked. It will most likely be a small rural carrier where people don't really have another significant option. Don't like it? Don't use the service. Don't let your kids do their homework at home. Don't Christmas shop on Amazon. Want to buy the wife some toys to spice up the bedroom .... nope, those are immoral, can't shop for those. It'll be like a school filter to protect you from yourself. Shopping for guns, or doing research? Can't do that either. Conservatives don't want liberals to control their internet, liberals don't want conservatives to control their internet. The rest of us want them to both shut up and quit trying to control anything. I don't want anyone to control my internet usage but me.

It wasn't horrible, but ISPs were starting to pull some fucky shit. Blocking ports on their firewalls to shut down VOIP services that were competing with their own VOIP service for instance. Net neutrality was in response to businesses/ISPs taking advantage of their power, and using it unfairly. While I understand that it is not a utility, internet access has almost become one. Many people don't really have a choice what ISP they use, so it's not the normal, "if you don't like them, don't use them". There are a lot of theoretical ways that ISPs can abuse their position that are being thrown around. The argument is that they are only theoretical, and that companies won't abuse their position. We know that most companies will. Profit is a huge motivator. I like to believe that people in general are good and we look out for each other. Corporations on the other hand hide behind the shield of .Inc and will fuck over anyone or anything they choose to in the name of profit. I don't think we will see it right away. But slowly over time ISPs will start to exert their influence. Streaming services, web sites, online gaming, internet access in general will be negatively effected in the long run. There is no positive way for this to be interpreted for us little guys who are the end users of these services.
