  1. I'm guilty of changing hobbies almost as often as changing my underwear. I never truly master anything, but I get good enough at it to gain some respect by members of the community. You're there. You have the respect of most of us for what you have accomplished with your cars. You can either set other goals with your cars or move on to something else. I assume you're like me though. Once you reach a certain level with a hobby the next steps get exponentially expensive. Getting a car into the 10s is not terrible, but 9s gets much more expensive, 8s is ridiculous, etc... You make your goal with the Camaro, and the next step to go faster wasn't practical. So you changed your focus and you accomplished what you wanted to do there. The Corvette was the next step, but you're done with it now and ready to move on. Keep the Camaro. While it is a beautiful car and has a lot of sentimental value it won't bring much of a price premium. The vette is worth more, but isn't sentimental. Use the money to fund the next hobby. So far over the years I've done all kinds of crazy things. Scuba Diving, Home Brewing, Shooting, RC Cars, Planes, Boats, Carpentry, Drag Racing, Golf, Model Rockets, etc... Learning the skills is the payoff for me. Once I've learned all the basics and have gotten decent at something I get bored and move on. Cars are your work, cars are your hobby. Take a welding class and learn to tig weld. It's a skill related to cars, but it isn't cars only. If you already know how to do that, then pick something else. Goals are what help me. Right now I'm trying to figure out if/how I can shoot something at 1 mile. Preferably with my own setup.
  2. I've got a lot of hobbies these days. Working in the garage on one of the cars, home brewing beer, carpentry. Honestly though I spend too much time watching TV/Netflix/DVR and playing Clash of Clans.
  3. Sounds like he was in the early stages of the addiction when he was still able to break free. Once people go too far down the rabbit hole their brain chemistry changes and just having the willpower isn't enough. I'm torn on the concept that addiction is a disease. Some people believe it completely, others deny it completely. Drugs change your brain chemistry. Sometimes we use drugs to correct an imbalance. Addicts are using drugs to create an imbalance. It's a self imposed disease. It's a disease that is a direct result of their actions. Once they have it though, getting rid of it is a monumental hurdle. The medical treatment can be similar to treating a natural disease. Glad to hear your dad was able to resist the urge. Beating the addiction early is great. He took a peak into pandoras box and was able to get it closed before shit got bad. I know a person who had a similar experience, except he got laid off during the same time frame. It really screwed with his head. The resulting depression from losing his job was enough that he couldn't break the addiction early, and he spiraled down. He's currently at rock bottom right now and starting to climb his way out of the hole he's dug, but he has nothing left. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. He's been sleeping on my couch the past few nights because he's homeless. His wife left him, everything he owned got sold/stolen/etc... to pay for prescription drugs and alcohol. My wife and I are working right now to get him into a program. She took the day off work so he won't be at the house unsupervised. I'm one of the last friends he has, and I'm struggling myself to make sure I don't allow him the opportunity to screw that up too. His sisters won't even take him in. He has even been kicked out of the homeless shelters for drinking.
  4. https://columbus.craigslist.org/cto/6383806798.html CR price $2500
  5. $2800 Cooling fan is working fine. Drove the car around last weekend and it runs well. Maybe I'll drive it to Cars and Coffee this coming Saturday.
  6. New price. $2800, I'll put everything in the trunk of the Impala and hand you the keys.
  7. Bump $750 any less and I will just keep it.
  8. CR Gun crew under the Parking Lot.
  9. God I'm confused on this one. I don't think bog pharma is a friend to anyone but themselves, and I think the only thing they are interested in protecting is themselves and their profits. The fact they are against it leads me to vote yes. So Wienstein runs a billion dollar organization that sells drugs. I don't get it, what's in it for him to lower drug costs? Maybe I'm just going down the conspiracy theory road here, but I can't help but think there is something bigger going on. The language sounds simple. I'm hearing a lot of "fears" about it, but I'm not seeing much that I would consider facts. In truth I'm turned off by both sides. The unlimited legal fees is a turn off on the yes side. The support of big pharma is a turn off on the no side.
  10. Some of us are living in 2017, then there is this guy living in 3017.
  11. You can put it in the pot, then fill water to the line and check for the volume displaced. I'm not sure I would risk it though. Find someone with a smoker and smoke that monster.
  12. I’m in love with my Avalanche. Full size crew cab if I need seating for 4 adults comfortably, 6 adults short term. I can also haul full size sheets of plywood under cover by folding the rear seat. The tool boxes in the bed rails are great. Bed panels come off easy to haul larger items. Bed is about 4x5 with the full cab, 4x8 with the rear seat folded. Should be able to find a decent one in your price range.
  13. Not sure when or if I would have time to take on a side project like that, but I'm game to see what you're interested in. Is there a particular style you're interested in? Type of wood? Finish? Size? With or without benches?
  14. Guy drove in from Dayton to look at it. Today the cooling fans stop coming on and the motor gets warm. The engine getting warm spooks the guy and he passes on the car. If someone on here wants the car and is serious about it, let me know. Price is now 2500 for CR.
  15. Miles 168,000 Rust, yes, but no holes in the body that I have found. (It's a Midwest car) AC should work once it's charged. I was charging it every spring and that was good for the summer.
  16. You're welcome to make me an offer on the car.
  17. Cheap sons of bitches. I think the people looking for these that have money to spend are looking for ones that are cleaner than mine. I'm really just ready to let it go and move on. For 3k though I'm not even filling the gas tank, much less replacing the battery or the wiper blades.
  18. I'm posting this back up for sale. Had it out at our car show hoping for some nibbles. Nothing. If I'm just going to dump the car I would rather it go to someone here than some random guy from Facebook or Craigslist. $3000 The only trades I would be interested in would be partial trades for reloading gear. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=442&pictureid=8928 The car is at school currently.
  19. It's a shame my Impala SS won't work for this. I'd love to see it live on as part of a project like this. Too long and 4 doors. I can't wait to see what you finally settle on as a donor vehicle.
  20. Barley's has a room down in their basement. Not your typical meeting room, but it's decent size. You can get food service from the kitchen. Once a year we hold one of our monthly home brew club meetings there. Not sure exactly if it will fit 100 though.
  21. I don't know if he ran it down the track, or just sat in the car show area. I commented on the license plate with the park bench sized wing. He joked that he needed a pilots license to drive the car. Seemed like a decent guy. He didn't get offended at my comment about the wing.
  22. He was at Trails this past Sunday. I was chatting with him while we sat in line waiting to get in. I loves the wing with that license plate. Never saw him once we got inside. I assume he was up in the car show area.
  23. After talking with some folks, the online prices I'm seeing are not realistic. I'm dropping my price to $800 for the package. Rifle, mags, bag, ammo.
