Good intro, welcome.

I like the fit. Since you are going to paint the wheels, instead of white, what about painting them to match the truck?

Got an email from Racetronix yesterday. They don't have a bulkhead harness for the LT1 f-body cars right now, but they expect to have one by this summer. We're going to put the pump back in with the stock bulkhead harness and I'll swap it out again when I get a new one from racetronix. Thanks for all the help guys. I hate to think this is all just temporary until I swap out the entire fuel system.

I agree, wiring the pump with the same gauge all the way through is absolutely the right way to go. But, for the sake of making progress and being practical we're going to leave the stock in-tank harness for the moment so we can move ahead with the project. With the trap door in the trunk I can easily get the pump back out at a later date once I've sorted out how to manage the wiring. Right now it's holding us up and something that can be easily dealt with later. Thanks for the links Scott, I did look at their site to see if they sold wire, but I must have not looked in the right places. I'll probably order wire from them once I figure out how to deal with the bulkhead. I am going right now with a single pump. I had planned dual pumps until I found out the stock pressure regulator can't handle the flow back to the tank at idle. I may switch up to dual pumps since I scored a deal on an LT1 aeromotive adjustable pressure regulator. I haven't had a chance to do any research on whether it flows better than the stock regulator.

We're finally digging into the winter projects. The current project is the fuel pump. I grabbed a Walbro 255lph pump from IPS, and a hotwire kit from Racetronix. We have the pump in the bucket, but we noticed all the new wire is a substantially larger gauge than the stock wire than the intank harness. It looks like Racetronix uses 14 gauge teflon coated wire. Any ideas where I could put my hands on some more, so we can convert the rest of the harness? Or should I be looking at using a different wire? I can post pics if it would help, but it's your standard 4th gen F-body fuel pump assembly. I just don't like the idea of upgrading all the wiring and leaving a 6" length of stock wire.

You might look into the Raspberry Pi. It's a small, cheap hobbiest computer. There are add on boards that make it easy to interact with the real world (read switches, turn on light bulbs, etc...) I think it would be more interesting to actually build something than just write a program. I know the kids are small, but there are lots of cool projects out there people have done with kids using Raspberry Pi. http://www.mcmelectronics.com/content/en-US/raspberry-pi

The "Im still talking about D. Wiggs 4 years later" thread
Richard Cranium replied to D.Wiggs's topic in Dumpster
Yeah, it probably isn't the kind of press he was after. Then again he's made Jalopnik one time more than I have. I'm starting to think he is deliberately sandbagging on finishing the car. His business is so new and his customer base is very small. After all his claims and promises, if he fails it could be the death of his company. His customers have some confidence in him, if he looses that he'll probably loose the customers he does have. If he can string people along and build some additional confidence from his customer base, then he might be able to survive an embarrassing end to this project. He's definitely made a name for himself with it. He has to play his cards just right to not loose what he has gained. -
What's the plans for this one? Flat black, flames and side side pipes?

looking for a few lt1 fbody parts for my 96ss
Richard Cranium replied to 2Turboz's topic in LBTS GLWS
I have an LT1 block (no rotating assembly) still wrapped in plastic from the machine shop and a stock crank. 2 bolt block, was machined before I picked it up. Took it to Col-Weld and had them check out the work, they said it looked good. -
This is getting me in the mood to fix mine up and get back out and start bashing again. I have a 2.5 REVO converted to 3.3 and a 2.5 T-Maxx. Neither of them run worth a shit right now. I don't think the REVO will even start.

Will Australian parts fit on your 'merican truck?

Good talking to you. I wish you luck on the project.

I have the original 17x11 rears I bought for my car still. I took them off when I narrowed the rear end. Hit me up if you're interested. Pick up a couple 17x9.5 and you're set.

I'm glad you're kidding. That's a good way to get tossed off a ladder with a running chainsaw in your hand. Whenever possible I like to lean my ladders against something that won't move.

I have a set stashed back in my shed.

Yeah, you definitely want someone with insurance. I've learned my lesson never to use the walk up sales guys. Cost me $1500 in damage to my driveway and they disappeared. With the tight dimensions I bet it will have to be pieced apart and roped down. I would assume a reputable company would be closer to $1000 than $500. I've had luck with Mule Stump Removal. The owners name is Todd. 937.313.2245 If you are going to go with one of the walk up companies, at least get copies of all their bonding and insurance paperwork. If they fuck up, then at least you will have some ammunition to work with. Don't be a trusting sap like I was.

Replacing plates could become law
Richard Cranium replied to El Karacho1647545492's topic in Dumpster
A buddy of mine is still rocking the old gold plates. His are rusted to shit, but he refuses to pay extra to replace them. The state made him buy the shitty plates that didn't last, he doesn't see why he should have to pay extra to replace them. With a 7 year cycle they would probably switch to cheaper plates that won't last. No need to have them hold up 10 or 15 years when you have to replace them after 7. If they want the extra cash, I'm with the twice the price, half the plates crowd. -
I got one of their starter packages as a Christmas gift. The beer is great, all micro brews, nothing mass produced. They are cycling in new beers on a consistent basis, so if they don't have what you're looking for keep checking back. Growlers are great. 1/2 gallon at a time. They will keep for a week or so as long as you don't open them. Once you open it though you need to drink it within a day or two before it starts to go downhill. They don't have food, but I have heard they don't mind if you carry in or even order in. There are a few restaurants in the area who will deliver there. Let me know next time you're heading over Clay, I'll join you.

Ididoths shut CA highway down for burnouts
Richard Cranium replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Pics and Vids
Works for me. I was waiting for one of those 3 cars in the circle jerk to smash into another one. -
I'm with Crossle on quality. Doing a job twice is once too much. I believe in doing a job once and doing it right and moving on. Even on things that probably don't matter, I'll typically spend the extra money on the better quality part. The part is only a small part of the work typically. I'm used to the labor cost being the lions share of the job, so I may as well pay to have a better part installed. The labor is the same regardless of the quality of the part.

I love my HK USP 9mm. I'm not sure how long I've owned it, but it has been nothing but flawless since the day I purchased it.

I'll be volunteering Friday night, don't know what brewery they have me assigned to yet though.

Gauge cluster? May have some differences in the transmission as well.
