Pickups Plus in Lewis Center. Talk to Brady.

Put me down for an XL. I'll get you cash the next time I see you.

If possible I would run a wire over to the vanity and put a row of vanity lights in along with the normal bathroom light. I guess a question to ask is whether or not people will be using this vanity for makeup or "getting ready"? How much light will the average person need at vanity? I normally opt for more light rather than less.

Nope, that's just a goofy picture of Brian. As everyone else said, take it to Dynotune, Brian will get you all fixed up.

I was thinking this same thing, what I really hope doesn't happen is that they sell it off to a developer for another housing development. I'd love to see someone pick it up and keep things going.

I'm going to toss out an idea that goes a little different direction. This may or may not fit your needs since I don't know much about how you work. If your concern is someone breaking into your office and seeing a laptop and grabbing it, or losing the laptop while traveling, then why not keep the data on a separate machine? If you have a secure closet or room in your office you could keep a server (Linux, Windows, whatever) and have your confidential data stored on that machine. Obviously the data stored on that machine would be encrypted, backed up, etc... But that gets the data off your desk.

+1 for what your goals are. What are your concerns? I'm assuming storing patient records are an issue, but there are other scenarios that jump to my mind such as transmitting patient records or other sensitive data (financials, etc...) to another location.

Times have definitely changed. Cell phones are allowing for much greater access to the world around without leaving the house. Games are getting much better (but they are still games). I was blown away earlier this year when I told my students about buying the dragster, they asked my why I didn't just get a video game of it. It would be cheaper and much safer the just play it in a video game instead of doing it for real. This wasn't a joke. I thought they were kidding at first. But today is a much different mentality than even I thought. Now, my kids are the computer nerds, not to auto tech wrenching type kids. Another difference I see sometimes is parents in their desire to have responsible kids set goals the kids think are unattainable. Or sometimes are unreasonable. For a high school kid to have a job where they can pay for their gas, insurance, maintenance, cell phone, etc... The kids decide it's easier to not have nice things. Or you have the chicken and the egg problem of needing a job to get a car, and needing a car to get a job. Not to mention, having a job cuts into their social time/video game time. It gets much easier to say fuck-it and ride the bus.

I should have been more specific. I am drag racing, therefore NHRA rules state that belts may be a maximum of 2 years old. The standard is SFI 16.1: Seat belt mandatory in all cars. Three-inch driver restraint system meeting SFI Spec 16.1 mandatory in any car running 11.49 (*7.35) or quicker, in convertibles running 13.49 (*8.25) or quicker, and all dune-buggy-type vehicles running 12.00 (*7.50) or slower. SFI 16.1 restraint system, when required, includes crotch strap and must be updated at two-year intervals from date of manufacture. See General Regulations 10:5, 10:11. Once I am comfortable in this car and launching hard I'll be pissed if I only run 11:49. The goal is low 8s or bordering on high 7s in the quarter mile.

I need to pick up a new harness for the car. 5 point and would prefer camlock, wrap around. Simpson won't re-certify their harnesses. What are the preferred belt sets out there? I'd rather buy a nice set up front and get the re-certified a couple times than buy a cheap set and replace with new every couple years. The cockpit is kinda tight and I don't have a lot of room to move around, so the easier they are to lock and unlock the better.

Where should I go to get a remote starter?
Richard Cranium replied to 2 Sweet's topic in Passing Lane
+1 for Pickups Plus I paid more for mine, but the price difference was probably the system itself. The installation was flawless. -
My students are this way. High school kids. When I can find an internship or job for them many times they can't take it because they don't drive. On those days, if I had hair I would be pulling it out by the handful.

Yeah ... I just looked at the Mega 450 and it would be way easier than the box that is in the car... ... ... ... .... Yeah, with all new safety equipment and gear, I think it's gonna have to wait.

You have no idea ... I even saw someone selling an I-beam dragster jig on racing junk I thought about buying. The cost for a pre-cut, pre-bent tube chassis kit for a dragster just isn't that expensive. With the resources I have available at school it was hard to pass up. We have fired it up a couple times at school. In the autotech lab the noise level is violent. Also, it made the entire back hallway smell like race gas exhaust. God I love that smell. The shifter looks like an elegantly simple piece. I really like it. I'll be sure to check out the new delay boxes, but for now I'm focusing on just getting the car back on the track. I think I have a decent handle on what my costs are going to be, and I'm sure it'll cost more than I think with just the basics. For now, if it works and it's up to date I'm leaving it in place. For example though, I just overdrew my checking account for a new battery and charger combination (I will dip into savings a little this pay). If only money came as easy right now as it is on DrMeth.com I'd be set. In fact maybe I could fund the a whole team making Meth. Just kidding. I doubt I'll be making any attempts during my first season to be competitive. I just want to drive it like I stole it and end up with my face hurting because my smile won't fit in my helmet.

The alternator is the tiny bell shaped thing on the block. If you follow the belt from the crank pulley you'll see it. I did some reading on the Shogun alternators. They are really old-school technology and simple. No power wire, permanent magnets, brushless. They produce power from the first crank to the last. If you follow the wires downward, there is a small box there that the wires connect into, we're assuming that is the diode bridge because there is no space in that alternator for the bridge. They don't tie together. The metal thing on the frame is the power on and off switch for the car. You can see a tube running from the switch down the tube rail toward the back of the car. That is the actuator for the switch. It's a T handle mounted between the rear tires so the safety crew can shut the car off in case of an emergency.

I pulled the body off the car yesterday. I figured I might tease you guys with some shots of her naked. http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-48-58_388_zps1af67f10.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-49-20_263_zps72308257.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-49-39_673_zps6c8cfde9.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-49-48_898_zps95d75316.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-54-25_439_zps8373200b.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-54-42_348_zps0256b282.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-55-33_288_zps97c2e66e.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-56-22_60_zpsc4272590.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-56-33_180_zps017bbd15.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-56-47_296_zps82f29790.jpg http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-57-05_996_zpsb6400849.jpg It really is amazing to me how simple this car is.

I debated on whether or not to make a project thread. Really this isn't much of a project car. All the work is pretty straight forward. I figured with the interest in the other thread though that people would want to see how this is different than the cars they are used to. I took about 30 minutes during my lunch and removed the body so we'll have access to everything on the car. So, the car does fire and runs pretty well considering the sit time and old fuel. One of the first things we noticed was the battery is struggling to hold any real charge and won't start the car on it's own. From the receipts I have it looks like the battery is 6 or 7 years old. With a 2+ year sit in the garage we're assuming it won't come back. So new battery is on order. Swapping out the battery is a nothing job with the body off. http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-49-27_820_zps5da3f423.jpg The other thing we noticed was the voltage while the engine is running is only about 10 volts. So we'll be taking a look at the alternator next and verify whether it is working correctly. http://i453.photobucket.com/albums/qq260/01fxst/Dragster/2013-10-23_14-55-44_70_zps8c0e66a9.jpg

The "Im still talking about D. Wiggs 4 years later" thread
Richard Cranium replied to D.Wiggs's topic in Dumpster
All I know he has done is tied the record for the lowest HP car in the world. He has as about as much HP as the Flintstones. -
Yeah, taking it out to the school was expected. I am a little nervous about it being in the shop, but I plan on allowing the instructor to use it as a training and recruiting tool. We'll probably do the transmission swap out there since the current transmission and converter need a refresh and I got a ready to go transmission and converter as part of the deal. I spoke with the auto collision teacher Friday about removing most of the graphics, and we'll probably do that as well. I'm not sure what we will replace the graphics with, I was debating on letting the art students come up with ideas.

Last night was a long evening. My truck is still having problems with wiring for the trailer lights, so I borrowed a friends truck and we finally went over and picked up the car. She fired easily, warmed up nicely and drove up into the trailer like she was ready to go to her new home. We brought her out to the school where she's sitting in the Auto tech lab for now. There is a laundry list of little things that need done, we're going to take our time and work through each one. I'm now planning on making the first pass with the car next spring as soon as the tracks open. That will give us time to swap the tranny and converter for the good set, get the chassis recerted and bring everything else that needs it up to date. We're starting small and today just trying to figure out if the battery is any good. If we get the truck wiring sorted out then the car may make an appearance at Cars and Coffee.

Reading owns me. Welcome. What are the plans for the '67?

Yep, probably dry rotted a bit, but there are tires on them.
