I think I still have the old Salad Shooter wheels from my Camaro still kicking around.

I guess since I'm half of this thread I may as well chime in. I do think the question was a little rude. Worth my time to deal with? No. In my experience when you ignore someone who is rude they just go away. That being said, the part I think was rude was it was his first and only post in they thread. There is a difference between having a conversation with someone and then once you've established respect and interest, then you politely ask. As opposed to the guy who butts into the conversation and asks straight up. As for whether I would divulge my price to a stranger? No. My parents raised me old school and money, politics and religion are not the things of polite conversation with people I don't know. I've also learned on this board to be reserved with some details (especially ones I don't think matter to the thread). I've seen too many people get their shit jumped because someone takes offense at some inconsequential detail. If someone wants to approach me as a friend or at least interested yet respectful person I will probably tell them exactly what I paid. After about a year of searching Racing Junk I bought the car for a little below the average price and got the rest of the equipment free. Chad fully admitted his asking price was about what they had invested in the motor alone. The fact I didn't need to travel to get the car was a huge bonus. Oh, and I've got nothing against the buster.

I'm not planning any changes to the car as of now. I need to learn what I'm doing first. Since the wing is already there I'll stick with it for the time being. I appreciate the information though. Everything is new to me with this project. The weekend is looking kinda busy, but maybe I could sneak out to Trails for a bit. When will you guys be out there?

Yeah, Chad and his dad used to run the car. You know them? Everything has sat for a couple years. We are currently working our way through the issues with the trailer. I want to make sure it's ready to go before I pick up the car. We did fire up the car and it ran well despite 2 year old race gas. It fired pretty easily considering how long it sat.

Even with the big tires I still can't compete with you and Mark. But yeah, I plan on moving up the fastest 60 list pretty quickly. There are kits to convert hard tails to 4 link, but the price is a bit steep. From what I understand (my extremely limited knowledge) one of the biggest problems they had with being a hard tail was the rear end wanting to bounce in the shut down. With no rear suspension the tires would just hop and skip with the brakes applied. The big carbon wing is the solution to that problem. At 160mph it provides enough down force to plant the rear tires and gets the car stopped with a lot less fuss. Really I've got an incredible learning curve ahead of me. My plan is to take things slow and methodical. A big part of that plan is not to change a damn thing until I learn to drive the car. They have it sorted out pretty well, so anything I would change would probably be a mistake. The old guy kept pretty meticulous records, and they all came with the car. I plan on using the same vendors for servicing the parts as they did. The only planned change I have for the car is to change the name on the side and remove the Marines sticker. I might change the color of the car since the panels are so easy to remove and I can probably get the painting done at school.

Welcome, post up some pics. Way back when I had an S10 I was going to LT1 swap until I bought my 95 Camaro. What mods does the Firebird have?

Thanks for all the support. This was a big decision for me. I'm not even sure I could clear the speed bumps in the parking lot. The crazy thing is, the car has a cooling system and an alternator. That being said, I would not get very far down the road. It's a shorty glide, probably won't fit your car. I have to admit, I've only ever sat in the car once. The idea of driving it full tilt boogie does scare me. It will be a while till I have the confidence to release the trans brake and let it eat.

Here is your answer. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114657

After a lot of soul searching and pondering about my goals for my Camaro I came to the conclusion it will never be the car I want. Fast at the track, fun on the street, 6-speed, etc... Too many compromises between track performance and street car. Thus begun a year long search for a drag strip only car. No compromises for street driving, all out speed and brutal acceleration. I surfed RacingJunk, Yellow Bullet, even Ebay for months, looked at altered chassis, door chassis, etc... Where was going to be the best bang for my bucks. As luck would have it, I was contacted by a woman I went to highschool with that her husband was trying to sell his car. Less than 1 mile from my house. Not just the car though, he wanted to sell EVERYTHING, 27' enclosed trailer, spare parts, spare transmission, car, etc... EVERYTHING! After talking it over with Carol, looking at the car 3 different times, talking it over with a mutual friend of the owners and mine, I decided it was time. I couldn't pass up the deal. The car is a 225" wheelbase Horton dragster. It is a little dated as it's a hard tail car. The engine is a 500+ ci big block chevy which dyno'd right around 750hp at the crank. The car weighs in around 1500 lbs. and runs 8.0s, 8.1s in the quarter mile at 155+. The car has a best pass of 7.97 at over 160. This is a major jump for me and a much faster car than I was planning on getting, but the deal was too good to pass up. I am working now on getting everything in order for my NHRA license. Enough talking, I know everyone is much more about pictures. So here they are. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=851&pictureid=7324 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=851&pictureid=7325 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=851&pictureid=7326 http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=851&pictureid=7328 It's a touch snug, but not uncomfortable in any way. I could stand to loose a little weight anyhow. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=851&pictureid=7327

There were two dragsters there. I only saw pics of yours. It was the blown alcohol car that shut the track down. The orange and blue dragster was fine. Seems like most of their problems were logistical and learning to drive the car. I only saw 1 pass they made and they couldn't seem to get the car to do a burnout.

Has anyone ever fought a school zone speeding ticket?
Richard Cranium replied to Ramsey's topic in Passing Lane
Yeah, the signs don't tell you everything. If there are kids on school property visible from the road then it's an active school zone. I posed the question to one of our resource officers (Madison County Sheriff Deputy) how far outside school hours would count, and basically was told if a kid goes and plays on a school playground on a Saturday morning in July, then technically the school zone is effect. -
No, it's not a GT. Has the 3.8 in it I think.
-
Great! But how do I know if it's an 8.8? I know it's not a 9", but that's about all I know.

Just trying to help out a friend. Somehow they managed to "lose" the differential cover for the '95 mustang they are working on. Anyone have one laying around for cheap?

I have 220 in my garage as well, but decided to buy a 110 welder so it would be more portable. I picked up a Lincoln Powermig 140C and it has yet to let me down. When a friend needed some welding done on her farm, I just loaded it up in the truck and headed over, plugged in and fixed what needed fixing. Not trying to thread jack, but you'll only be able to weld what you can reach with the cord if you go 220. Hit me up if you want to give mine a try and see if it will work for you.

METAL WORKERS - Egress Window grate needed
Richard Cranium replied to zeitgeist57's topic in Dumpster
Whatever you have it made from it needs to be light weight. You have small kids in the house. In the event of another fire a big heavy grate could cause that egress to become a cage. -
Either way, looks like you're going to need a pressure regulator. I got the feeling your original question was whether or not you could feed the fuel line straight to the carb from the pump at full pressure.

I was looking for a similar product for my Impala, but never found anything I liked. I think the best I did find was a hammock that hangs in the back seat from the front and rear head rests. More space for the dog, and keeps them from jumping front seat, back seat, front seat, back seat. I also likes it keeps ours in the back and saves me cleaning nose prints off the windshield all the time. Also it keeps the hair confined to the back seat, and gives you some storage in the foot wells under the hammock. But you have to have rear seat head rests that you can hang the hammock on which my Impala does not have.

Alrighty then, we have an answer. Experience beats out theory every day of the week.

Not that I know anything about carburetors. But wouldn't that be hard on the pump? An electric pump is giving full flow at all times regardless of throttle. A mechanical pump on the block would slow down and pump fuel slower at idle and speed up with throttle providing more fuel to fill the float bowl. I would think that at idle when the motor is using the least amount of fuel your electric pump would burn up while it spins, but very little fuel passes through to cool it. Also, as the engine idles and burns less fuel you might see a spike in the fuel pressure since the pump is still running, but has nowhere to go. I could be completely off base, I don't have any experience with this. If it was me, I would put a regulator with a return in the line and run the system they way it was designed to run. I wouldn't be comfortable running it as a non return system.

Hell yeah you're all out of bubblegum. You guys are rocking this project.

The "Im still talking about D. Wiggs 4 years later" thread
Richard Cranium replied to D.Wiggs's topic in Dumpster
Those wheels are hideous. -
I want it. I can use it to brew beer. I should be able to pick it up this evening.
