  1. Pictures?

MY FIANCE is thinking about picking up a LMT defender 16, but I am tempted just to build one from scratch. Any suggestions? BTW, my fiance gets the police/military disocunt at vances, so the LMT would be heavily discounted.

Fixed. Now the lurking ATF agents won't get ya for making straw purchases for the cartels.

  2. I think everyone is missing the point here

a special forces guy shot himself in the head and lived

sounds like the military is doing some genetic upgrades

He would have overheated to death had he not found that bathtub full of ice.

  3. Just goes to show you even with rigorous training, selection, etc. some people (under the influence or not) can still have epic fuck-ups. There was a SF candidate in the Q course that did this awhile back, and the recent SF that had a few pounds of C4 in TX.
  4. My buddy picked up a dpms(I believe) from the westland mall gun show for $450 and couldnt be happier about it. I assume its not a huge namebrand but I believe its made in Ohio. He has a few thousand rounds through it and hasnt had any issues.

DPMS is a major brand, and in my experience is just fine for a hobby shooter. $450 is a pretty solid deal. I remember when you could build an AR for $450 about 5 years ago, it's a whole different market now.

  5. Agree with Scott.

If you want a cheap AR, get a bushmaster carbon 15 for $650 or you can spend alot more and get a LWRC

Do not do this. Just imaginary googling of "Carbon 15" gets me 33 trillion pages of fucking fail. At that price point you can get a cmmg, PSA, homebuild, or any other potentially functional metal machine.

  6. And triple to help explain it to some of you. For some people, there doesn't have to be a tangible, physical reward at the end of a struggle or hard journey to make it rewarding. It's the challenge itself and within yourself to push harder than you would, to strive further than you thought possible and to conquer something so grand you've set your mind and body to. Some of us thrive on testing ourselves.

Cliff notes: The journey is half the fun

  7. Don't spend that much for an M1A, the money would be better spent getting an M14 with a forged receiver (Smith Enterprises, LRB, Fulton) that is much closer to being in spec than the Springfields and have a higher potential for accuracy. Also if you plan on putting it in a Sage or other chassis/stock system, then it is pointless to pay for the bedded stocks of the NM or M21.

LOL! I'd say the high-end M1As (LRB, smith, etc) are a little better than "In Spec" hahahah! More like custom-built, match grade! Way way way better than an "In spec" 4 MOA rack-grade M14 ever was!

  8. I would LOL if I was inspecting cars, and the brake pedal went to the floor as the piston adjusted for the massive thickness variation. You'd think this should have been caught many times through inspections, but I'm not a line worker. Wouldn't you even see a pretty big difference in brake fluid level?
  9. If I were spending that kind of money I'd spend some more time looking into platforms. I'd recommend going here: http://lightfighter.net and searching the precision forum.

If it were me I'd be looking at the AR platform, like an offering from LaRue, KAC, etc.

Here is an example of a search you might want to use: search lf.net

You find some of the most authoritative people on that weapons system there, and they're not all that fond of it. I have an M1A and will never let it go. It is not the first thing I pick up for making holes in paper far away.
