  1. Winchester target (in the white box) or Blazer from walmart is what I typically 'stock' up on for .40 S&W. For self defense, I like the Remington Golden Saber, 165 gr. ammo but I don't 'stock up' on that since it's close to a $1/round.
  2. Since I primarily have military calibers, I like to buy surplus in sealed tins/crates/battlepacks, etc. for storage. They are vacuum packed and will easily last a lifetime if stored in a cool, dry place. For ammo outside of sealed containers, I use the surplus ammo cans and put a bag of desiccant in each can. The key with long term storage is a consistent temperature, and a dry environment. Edit: Military surplus comes in great containers that are waterproof, airtight, and stackable. What more could you ask for! http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/IMG_7400.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/IMG_7406.jpg
  3. Missed it. What happened? Was it due to the Chief's linebacker killing himself and girlfreind? Maybe they should have had an anti-murder speech.
  4. 1000 rounds is not that much if it's a caliber you shoot regularly. I like to have 5000+ rounds of each caliber that I shoot regularly.
  5. LimitedSlip7 - just make sure that you get one made in Romania, not a US built kit rifle. I think part of the reason the PSL54C rifles have had some bad press online is that there are some kit built guns that aren't that great.
  6. PSL action shot... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/PSL54C/1_G.jpg
  7. Illegal firearms are too difficult. It's easy to go after the law abiding citizens. They usually comply.
  8. PSL54C rifles are quite accurate. Groups open up a little when the barrel gets hot, but they are fine shooters with the right ammo. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/PSL54C/NICEGROUP.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/PSL54C/IMG_4412.jpg You will have to get one in the secondary market. No vendors have stocked them in over a year. Last year the rumor was that there would be no more PSL rifles imported. While I doubted that rumor at the time, I think there is a good chance that it may be true, especially considering the current political environment.
  9. Germany takes the lead...how appropriate considering their history. http://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2012/germany-to-register-gun-owners-in-international-database.aspx
  10. That's a good thing for a pistol like this! It's not a target gun, it's for shooting aggressors at very close range. Tumbling bullets do more damage.
  11. You think components won't be affected??? They will.
  12. For 9mm, let's ignore the time factor and assume that you already have the once fired brass. Components you would need each time are: bullet = $0.16/ea primer = $0.035/ea powder = $0.003/charge That's about $0.20/round. You can buy 9mm ammo cheaper than that in bulk, but it's not necessarily going to be the same quality. If you factor in the price of the brass (it can be reloaded multiple times), it's more expensive to reload 9mm than to buy it in bulk. This is why I do not reload certain pistol calibers.
  13. Here is another fantastic product that you will want... http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-Model-400-Vibratory-Case-Tumbler-Kit/731769.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllProducts%26Ntt%3Dtumbler%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=tumbler&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products I've been using this setup for many years and it's still running strong. Does a great job.
  14. Single stage presses are fine, especially for a beginner. I hope TurboGoKart isn't just looking to get into reloading for the economy of it, as it takes a lot of your time. If you factor in the time it takes to reload, it's going to be more expensive than just buying factory ammo! That said, reloading allows you to make better ammo than you can buy, tailored for specific firearms, and is a fun hobby that can compliment your shooting hobby. +1 on the RCBS dies. I like them better than the Lee dies for a couple of reasons and they aren't that much more expensive.
  15. Check out the Lee Anniversary kits. These will get you started on the cheap and you can upgrade the pieces that you decided you want to upgrade as you go. The 'heart' of any reloading setup is the press. The single stage "Challenger" press that comes with the Anniversary kit is a good design and will last for many many years. What calibers are you planning to load? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/423081/lee-challenger-breech-lock-single-stage-press-anniversary-kit
  16. Looks like a great collection of Lugers! I don't know that gentlemen but I have a friend who has around 50 Lugers in his collection - and I thought that was excessive! lol. I like the Luger pistols and have a couple, myself, but I've never been one to collect many multiples of the same firearm. I like to have a nice 'representative' example from a category or type of firearm that I like. For me, there are so many neat firearms that I just couldn't possibly limit myself to one (or 20!) type.
  17. Yes, on the Saiga rifles, and maybe on the K98, although stocks of those overseas are few and far between these days. Galil rifles haven't been imported since around 1989, anyway, so those will not be affected at all. If you are talking about the Century built Golani Sporters, those shouldn't be affected by the treaty but will be affected by a renewed AWB.
  18. I'm glad I'm stocked up on foreign calibers. Affordable 5.45x39, 7.62x39, 7.62x54r will disappear as a result of the ridiculous requirements for importation of such goods under this Treaty. Also a part of this Treaty is the tracking requirement. The most logical way to comply with these requirements is to have a National Gun Registry. That's bad news for law abiding gun owners. For criminals, not so much. You will still be able to get your inexpensive firearms the same way you always have.
  19. Was it a Legend (milled receiver)? The milled preban Polytech Legend rifles usually sell from $1800 - $2800 depending on condition, model, and whether or not it comes with the original box and accessories. Stamped receiver Polytechs with the folding spike bayonet are also pricey and go for around $1200 - $2200. They are really NICE rifles with excellent triggers (by military standards) and a very good fit and finish. Prices are inflated on these Chinese preban rifles because they were banned and there has been a 'fixed' supply since 1994.
  20. Nothing wrong with milled AKs at all. Plenty of militaries (Russia, China, Bulgaria, Finland, Israel, etc.) used them and still use them today. They are not less reliable than the stamped receiver variants. That post ban milled example for $950 is a bit high, but it is rather uncommon. I've seen them new in the box for less in the last couple of years.
  21. Here's another neat rifle. It's a Type 44 Cavalry carbine made by the Kokura arsenal. This is one of 9000 Series 1 rifles ever produced. It has a relatively heavy front folding bayonet mechanism and a quillon hook for bayonet fencing techniques. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Type44/IMG_7202.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Type44/IMG_7201.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Type44/IMG_6363.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Type44/IMG_6357.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/Firearms/FORSALE/Type44/IMG_6350.jpg
  22. The Powder Room should require everyone to do a safety walk through. One of the local ranges that I'm a member of requires EVERYONE to go through the same 30 minute safety walk through. You only have to do it once a year. If you don't do the safety course you don't shoot. Simple. No government involvement required. Just a little common sense.
  23. Sad thing is that many people have never been taught how to properly handle a firearm.
