  1. The bid is already higher than what it's worth!
  2. If it wasn't so sad, it would be hilarious.
  3. For those of you not familiar with the details of the Treaty, there are several significant issues but the main two that I'm concerned with are the tracking requirements and the approval process for importers and exporters of small arms and ammunition. In order to be able to abide by the Treaty and properly track small arms, there will need to be a National Gun Registry. Just like we are seeing in NY, CA, CT, etc., registration is key to confiscation, taxing, or whatever. The 2nd major problem with the Treaty requirements is the significant burden placed on the importers and exporters and the "UN Panel" that ultimately decides whether or not to allow the import/export. The Treaty requires that the importer and/or exporter complete a detailed study of how the particular import would affect the region and surrounding regions. The results of the study will be submitted to the UN Panel for approval or not. If the import "could be used in violent crimes against humanity" (or some verbiage like that), it is strictly forbidden. At the very least, this process will add SIGNIFICANT cost to imports, if it doesn't prevent them all together. If the US doesn't ratify the Treaty, my first concern may not be an issue. The burden/restriction of the imports may still be an issue even if the US is not a party to the Treaty.
  4. I can't help it if I like to collect and shoot foreign guns! The whole Treaty is just like our National Gun Control - it only affects the people who are following the law and will do absolutely NOTHING to prevent crimes against humanity or the import/export of illegal arms. I have no doubt that even the US will continue to illegally supply weapons and supplies to "opposition" forces when it supports our national interests. We have been doing this for MANY MANY years. The only bright side to the end or restriction on imports of ammunition and firearms is that the US manufacturers will have more business. The downside is my shooting hobby will become MUCH more expensive than it already is.
  5. Well it happened. The UN has adopted the dreaded Arms Trade Treaty. It still has to be ratified by the Senate by 67 votes, but this could be the end of affordable firearm and ammunition imports. It could very well be the end of firearm and ammunition imports, period. Even if the US does not become a party to the Treaty with ratification, if the exporting Country does, it's going to be a serious problem.
  6. Contact Sherrod Brown (gun grabber) and Rob Portman and tell them they should oppose the S. 649 bill. Reid will move to proceed with it next Monday.
  7. You can keep hounding your representatives to make sure they don't accept the so-called "universal background checks" for starters. Call, write, and email. To be able to enforce background checks on private sales of firearms, there will have to be a National Firearms Registry. The Registry will be the first step for future confiscation, IF it would ever come to that.
  8. Start with a .22LR of any variety.
  9. Due to the high cost of shipping pistols, I'm offering this pistol for sale locally in the Columbus region or NW Ohio region. CCW holders preferred, but will sell to individuals 21 years and older with a valid Ohio driver's license and a signed bill of sale. This is a 1918 Erfurt Luger P08 that began life as a pistol in the German Imperial Army. At some point, the pistol was converted for German Police use and was eventually 'liberated' and brought home by a US Lt. in 1945. The pistol is all matching, including the magazine, which has the correct police "dove" stamp. The holster is also a very interesting piece with a lot of history. It started out as an Artillery (LP08) holster, was converted to a regular German Army P08 holster, and then converted to the police configuration as it sits today. The holster is numbered and includes an extra magazine and original take-down tool. The extra mag and tool are both numbered to match the holster, but that number is different than the pistol. This is the way it was brought back. Hard to say when the holster was swapped out in it's very long history, but it was most likely during it's police service. Bore is in excellent condition, wood grips are in very good shape, too. Metal finish is original and very nice. I have plenty of detailed photos available for the serious collector. This documented bringback is priced to sell at $2500. May consider trades for certain pre-ban rifles. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/PoliceLuger_Capture/IMG_8553_zps8db5bf84.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/PoliceLuger_Capture/IMG_8571_zps5ad1c9b3.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/PoliceLuger_Capture/IMG_8570_zpse4dc2302.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/PoliceLuger_Capture/IMG_8576_zps42a0a6b7.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/PoliceLuger_Capture/IMG_8577_zps35eea28b.jpg
  10. 5.56 chambers are larger in dimension, most importantly the "leade" distance. The angle is also slightly different in this area. .223 chambers are tighter with a shorter leade (more accurate). The Wylde chambers have different geometry, specifically in the leade, that allow room for 5.56 cartridges but are supposed to be better for accuracy than a 5.56 chamber design.

    gun control

They need to disarm the public before the economy collapses.
  12. Can you "un-register" it? BATFE's philosophy - "once a machinegun always a machinegun." I thought it worked the same way with other Title II toys.
  13. This one has some honest wear on it but it's pretty nice overall with an excellent bore. I'm going to be listing some brand new ones that are in unissued condition once this rifle sells. The new ones are all later models with no ports in the spigot, beech stocks, and they are completely covered in preservative. Price will reflect the condition, of course.
  14. By the way, the CMP Stores have sold out of M1 Carbines except for some special examples that they are auctioning off. I value the one pictured above somewhere around $850.
  15. Here's one that I was going to list on Gunbroker... It's made by National Postal Meter and like most USGI carbines has gone through at least one arsenal refurb. The AAW on the stock means that it was refurbished at the Augusta Arsenal in Summerville, GA. It appears to still have it's original barrel (big plus for value!) as it's made by Buffalo Arms who made the barrels for National Postal Meter. It's dated 1943 and has the Flaming Bomb logo. Wartime rifles are very cool. The stock is a Walnut high wood style made by "OI" and still has whats left of the 'crossed cannon cartouche.' Handguard is also walnut and made by Standards Product with the early style two rivet design. Other notable features are the early style flat bolt, the 3rd style barrel band with built in bayonet lug, adjustable rear sight, later style welded trigger housing. Here's some pics... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8238_zps9a90beb1.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8237_zps1d87144b.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8232_zps8496f6ad.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8231_zpsd821566d.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8229_zps553dd13f.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8228_zps449d0f1d.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8223_zpsa4598185.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8221_zps544e65a9.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8220_zps192e3866.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FOR%20SALE/M1Carbine_NPM/IMG_8219_zps3c5e2674.jpg
  16. I assume that you are looking for a USGI version not a post war reproduction, correct?
  17. I've got a few M1 carbines that I'm planning to sell. A few are more collector pieces but I might have something perfect for you. I haven't determined prices for anything, yet, but I'll see what I can do later tonight and send you some details... Also... examples with good bores, muzzles, and with actions that fit the stock and recoil plate properly are fairly accurate out to at least 250 yds. (that's the longest I've shot one!)
  18. Arsenal is a reliable brand but they aren't making any 5.45x39 pistols right now. This is a nice rifle if you decide not to go the SBR route...Arsenal AK 74 Rifle SGL 31-84 Side Folder http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/ak-47-74-rifles/ak-74-rifles.html If you are going to go the SBR route, make sure that you buy a QUALITY firearm to start with. It will be worth the extra money in the long run.
  19. Bill Whittle...thanks. I had know idea who he was but I liked what he had to say and I like the way it was delivered.
  20. Let's not turn this into a 'fight the government' thread...lol. That scenario is highly unlikely and not really the point of the speech. Did anyone notice that the video was a bit off? To me, it seemed that the speech was not actually delivered to congress, but filmed separately and video bits were added in to make it look like he had an audience. The sound and the lighting and the cuts seemed off to me.
  21. You keep using this term... What do you mean? I don't think that most people who are concerned with the concentration of government power are "gun lover wackos." Why do you think that many congressmen and woman want to disarm the public? Many have said so in public forums, others behind what they thought were 'closed doors' but the fact is that there are plenty of people in our government that feel people should not own firearms at all. There are plenty of Countries outside the US that have the same goal - to disarm the American People.
