  1. Here's the Romanian M44. I love the dark wood on this one and the honest finish wear. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7037_zps921d5984.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7036_zpse16f678a.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7038_zps9dbf4a65.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7039_zps623e8eba.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7040_zps022e3ebd.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7041_zps655733c6.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/FinishWear_zpsd81f8fbc.jpg
  2. I might have an extra M44 that I'd sell. I don't have any $99 "beaters" like the Type 53s that are currently on the market, though. I've got a Romanian M44 that is much less common than the Russian version. It's all stamped matching and has the correct Romanian marked parts, barrel bands, trigger housing, etc. I also have a Russian M44 that's the typical refurb, completely gone through and re-worked by a Russian arsenal. I'll try to post some photos tomorrow afternoon...
  3. I have a BEC Gold Label 3x12 x44 if you want something inexpensive. I'd take $45 for it. It works fine and is in very good shape. I used to use it on my AR15 now it's just sitting in the box. It has a screw on sun shade, parallax adjustment, 1/4" MOA click adjustments, and a variable power lighted reticle. EDIT: here's some photos... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/reticle_zpsbc91c1ad.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9824_zpsd896aa88.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9823_zps911353b1.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9822_zps57101da7.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9814_zps5b03798f.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9813_zps292392eb.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/scope_zpsd4e3e424.jpg
  4. Do you work at a cannabis dispensary? I wouldn't expect any job which involves Federal clearances to be negatively affected by another Federally issued license. ? Of course a Federal background check is part of obtaining it, but it doesn't require fingerprints or photos.
  5. Looks like you have a nicely refurbished '42 Izhevsk, complete with the postwar laminate stock. The laminates are stronger than the hardwood stocks and less prone to cracking under the recoil.
  6. Dunham's won't be getting these Type 53 carbines. Shipping is only $20 and a transfer is only $25 at most places. Mosin Nagant carbines usually sell for $200 and up so your still getting a good deal. Or, get your FFL03 for $30 and buy them directly. That's what I do.
  7. You can get Type 53 (the Chinese version of the Russian M44) for $99, right now, from several online retailers. They are rough and original, battlefield pickup condition. http://www.jgsales.com/mosin-nagant-chinese-type-53-rifle,-7.62x54r,-good-condition,-c-r,-used.-p-2341.html http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/1089/products_id/411552896/TEAM+BUDS+FAST+TRACK
  8. I've got 3 extra boxes (1000 each) of CCI 400 small rifle primers that I'd like to sell or trade. I recently switched to the CCI 41 primers and no longer need these. They've been stored in an airtight box with desiccant since purchase and I think they're probably worth $30/box. I'm interested in military surplus items and can always use ammo (most military calibers) or even a couple more AR15 magazines. What do you have?? EDIT: 1 box spoken for...2 still available.
  9. +1 on the Nikon P223 or the Nikon Buckmaster series. It's tough to find clearer glass with as much light transmission for less money.
  10. Great looking M39. Looks like a post war stock, correct? You can tell if it's a wartime, early postwar, or late postwar by the shape of the fingers in the splice directly in front of the rear sight.
  11. Here's a real gem. I wonder how high it's going to go... http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=382734879
  12. If you are just looking for a shooter M91/30, make sure the crown doesn't have any damage from cleaning rods, check to make sure the rifling is sharp, and give the trigger a try. I would also pay attention to the position of the front post (how centered it is) and whether or not it lines up with the factory scribe. Bolt operation should be smooth. Most of the refurbs you find at many local retailers will be very good shooters as they have all been inspected and re-worked by an arsenal either in Russia or the Ukraine. Parts that weren't serviceable were already replaced. Headspace will also be in spec. Prices have gone up quite a bit on these in the last year or so. The last one I purchased at a retailer (Dunham's) was on sale for $90. Now, the sale price is $150. You can find them online for less (maybe $120?) but by the time you pay a transfer fee and shipping, you might as well buy it local and be able to inspect them and pick out the one you like. You can sometimes find gems, too, if you know what you are looking for. That last purchase I made for $90 happened to be a very uncommon '42 ex PEM sidemount sniper mixed in with the rest of the regular M91/30s. Izhevsk only produced this version for a short time in '42 before moving to the PU style sniper mount. There are some online vendors, such as J&G Sales, that have the M44 carbines on sale. They seem to be in real nice shape from the photos I've seen of what people have been receiving. The M44 won't be as accurate as the M91/30, though, with the shorter barrel and side mounted bayonet. This is THE site for information regarding anything Mosin Nagant... http://7.62x54r.net/
  13. The Mosin Nagant rifles have a long history and have been involved in many conflicts since the first was designed back in 1891. They are great collectibles because there are so many variations and many can be had for reasonable prices. I think the Finnish examples are probably the most accurate and my personal favorites. The Finnish had a way with taking Russian designs and improving them (not just Mosin Nagants, either). They often upgraded the barrels, the triggers, the stocks, and the sights. Here's some Finnish Mosin Nagant rifles: M91 - this one was actually made by a well know US manufacturer, New England Westinghouse under contract for Russia. At some point it was likely captured by the Finnish and completely reworked for issue to the Finnish Army. This particular rifle also has Civil Guard markings indicating it was loaned to the Civil Guard by the Army. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_7101_zps3a5bf31d.jpg Here's a couple more Finnish beauties - top is a Finnish made M91/30, made by Tikka in 1944, bottom is a M39 made by VKT in 1942. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_1444_zpsc70b8f9d.jpg The Finnish also captured many Russian firearms during the Winter and Continuation Wars and re-issued them to the Finnish forces without any modification. Here's some examples: 1938 Izhevsk M91/30. Notice the SA mark which stands for Suomen Armeija or Finnish Army http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/1938%20Izhevsk/IMG_9510_zps7a1d7b6f.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/1938%20Izhevsk/IMG_9522_zps0348945b.jpg 1941 Izhevsk M91/30 http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/1941%20Izhevsk/IMG_9730_zps29559acb.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/1941%20Izhevsk/IMG_9748_zpsfc546b27.jpg Not a Mosin Nagant, but another great Russian rifle captured by the Finnish in the same time frame - 1941 Izhevsk Tokarev SVT40 http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9765_zpsf7f0f6ca.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9786_zps07089696.jpg
  14. I think the Mosin Nagant rifles sometimes get a bad rap for quality due to their sloppy refurb shellac finish and their cheap price tag. Some of these rifles, particularly the genuine WWII era snipers, can be extremely accurate with even inexpensive surplus ammo. I've found that my PU snipers really like the old Russian (plant 188) heavy ball ammo from 1952 and the Czech (bxn) light ball from 1986. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_4610_zpsd76af715.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9117_zps78641ddf.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9113_zpsb96c151f.jpg Here is what the same rifle, on the same day, with the same shooter (me!) did with Czech light ball from 1965. Notice how much different this is compared to the same ammo from a different year and lot! The key to making these old rifles shoot is using the right ammo... http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9112_zpsc861d023.jpg
  15. The VEPR is more like the Romanian PSL54C than a Dragunov. The VEPR and PSL rifles are really just big AKs. They have a long stroke piston action and stamped metal receivers. The SVD Dragunov is a completely different firearm with an adjustable short stroke gas piston and a milled receiver. Great rifles, though! And you are correct about the Finnish M39 - they are FANTASTIC shooters. Generally more accurate than most Russian variations.
  16. First, you MUST clean your firearms after you use them. Powder residue can trap moisture from the air and hold it. Second, keep all metal surfaces oiled. There are many products to choose from but most will work. Oil the surfaces periodically, especially if you are storing in a location where the humidity is over 50%. Oil is the key. If you are going for long term storage, RIG grease is a good product to use. The "dehumidifier" like the Eva-Dry is really just a fancy container for desiccant. It helps but a Golden Rod heater inside your safe or cabinet will do a better job. I use both together. The Golden Rod heaters keep the temperature of the air inside the cabinet or safe slightly higher than the outside air so that moisture won't condense on your firearms. To remove light surface rust, some oil in BRONZE wool will do a good job. Rub very lightly. Don't use steel wool unless you don't care about the gun's finish.
  17. Just make sure that the re-loader uses NEW brass, not so called "once fired" brass. This was some ammo from a commercial re-loader that a friend was shooting in one of my rifles. The scary part was that the top of one of the cases remained in the chamber and the next round almost went into battery. Fortunately the bolt didn't fully close and upon ejecting the round, we noticed that the top of it was necked down from going inside the top of the previous case. This could of easily been a very dangerous situation. After this incident, the only reloads that go into any of my firearms are my own. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/misc/PIC_0897_zps96b5bfad.jpg
  18. You can have a K1 or a K2, though. http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_2059_zpsbafa9f10.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_2063_zpsdaa6396f.jpg
  19. Nevermind...someone just translated it for me. Here is what it really reads in case anyone is curious: 20 MUNITIONS 7,62 M"M//M"Y FOR AUTOMATIC AND MAUSER RIFLE LOT <6-73 T.Z.>
  20. Received some Israeli grenade cartridges today and was wondering what the box says. Can anyone read Hebrew? http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9356_zpse2a43e32.jpg
  21. I have a very nice Czech CZ82 pistol with TWO 12 round magazines, nicely marked ambidextrous leather holster, original cleaning rod/screwdriver tool, and green police lanyard. There are a few minor handling marks (typical of these surplus pistols) but the grip panels are solid with no cracks or chips. The unique polyagonal bore is mirror bright and in excellent condition. This pistol functions flawlessly with Brown Bear and Wolf ammo and is a great shooter. I'm looking to sell locally (FTF) in NW or Central Ohio for $250. Would also consider trades for ammo or towards other military firearms or accessories. What do you have? http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9315_zpsddf2071f.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9307_zps016a1cbe.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9308_zpsdae3b9b5.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9312_zps04405e6c.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k239/jjjxlr8/IMG_9313_zpsdc2eb24d.jpg
  22. Gun grabber Morse recalled and gun grabber Giron on her way to losing her job, too. http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_24064007/colorado-recall-morse-says-turnout-lower-than-he.html Maybe this will be a wake up call for the other politicians who want to place further restrictions on law abiding citizens.
  23. It really makes no sense. You better believe that the BATFE is checking the backgrounds of all persons listed on the trust. Maybe this one is just to appease his supporters without actually doing anything at all?
  24. Looks like the price of US military firearms just went up! I suspect other imports will be targeted next if they aren't already. Then surplus ammo... We just can't have all these criminals and gang bangers toting around M1 Garands, with their high capacity 8 round clips! :dumb: http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/obamas-ban-on-surplus-relics-reveals-his-anti-gun-extremism-says-ccrkba-221679761.html http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/08/29/obama-announces-new-gun-control-measures-targets-military-surplus-imports/ http://www.dailynews.com/general-news/20130829/ap-exclusive-obama-offers-new-gun-control-steps-curbs-on-importing-military-surplus-weapons
