  1. This is lolzy. If you manage to get covered in oil taking out a drain plug just take it somewhere. Oil filter is a different story.
  2. A vital part you left out, is this position flat rate or hourly? I'm assuming hourly as you said occasional overtime may needed.
  3. I thought the ohio G club was affiliated with the "other" C&C?
  4. No, just no. "ob·so·lete ˌäbsəˈlēt/Submit adjective 1. no longer produced or used; out of date." At last check every car/truck sold in America new in 2015 had OBDII. What replaced OBDII overnight that I wasn't aware of?
  5. Ugh, typical Mk4 guy. Knows how to drive em but doesn't know how to fix em.
  6. I'd give it a weekend your first go around. It's a good time to go ahead and replace all the timing components and water pump. Be careful not to crack a cam too.
  7. So you haven't done valve stem seals, right? The only sure fire way to check is pull off the intake and exhaust manifold and see of oil is sitting on top of the valves. You could pull a plug out and check as well, but if your intercooler piping has oil in it then there is no telling whether or not it (the smoke) may be from both the turbos going bad or the valve stem seals. If it is at start up and idle I'll put my money on valve stem seals. If it's more frequent then that I'll say turbo seals. The valve stem seals on all the 1jz' and 2jz's go bad so you might as well replace them and go from there.
  8. He has a Corvette now. Oh wait, nvm, he traded it back quicker than it took me to type this.
  9. You'd be stupid not to get your foot in the door at a dealership. $10/hr is not the best but a raise is a raise. Any training within a specific manufacturer is worth something. Then any Honda dealer will more than likely favor you over another candidate, even if they have a little more experience. Who gives a shit if you leave in a year. I switched jobs 4 times in a year between 3 different shops. It's the life of a tech early on. Ask Cordell or anyone else who has been a tech a decade or more how many shops they've been at, I'd bet most are above 5. A dealership is a lot better environment to work at than in a retail setting IMO. Less bullshit, more money, you get to work a little more at your pace and you'll learn a lot. You'll lose your ass on a lot of jobs but the experience that comes with it is well worth the price of admission into the "Only turned 3 hours today because I misdiagnosed a simple issue" club. Hopefully you don't join the "I sold a CVT instead of a wheel bearing club" though. (No this wasn't me)
  10. I forgot this part. I wanted/want a VR6 soo bad. I just can't get over the awful fuel economy of the VR platform. That sound though....
  11. I'm sorry, but that is just sheer dumb luck in my opinion. With all the things I hear about VR6's and the timing chain rattles and guide/tensioner issues, I think he got the needle out of the haystack. It may not have blown but yank the oil cap or valve cover off, I'll bet that thing is sludged to hell and back.
  12. I've seen a lot better. I've seen one or two worse.
  13. Are we allowed getting drunk before or during the game? Or is that frowned upon?
  14. These days with the cost of most rotors (Except BMW and other high end luxury cars) being so low, you are just as well off to get new rotors as you are to have Timbo down at NAPA cut them.
  15. So what top fuel team did they buy the engine setup from?
  16. If he still has student ID Matco and others give a discount. Hell, HF would get him through if he is careful.
  17. Some dealerships hire in Lube Techs for Summer time due to heavier workloads so the more experienced techs can do the heavier work. If he is mechanically skilled at all he is already qualified. Downside is he would have to buy some tools more than likely.
  18. I would say 250 or more. Hard to tell with some business's there still being open and having customers inside, I hope this turnout keeps up!
  19. If it is so fucking easy, go become a cop yourself. That is if you can stay off the weed long enough. Maybe then we won't see any of the gofundme shit on here from you again.
