  1. If it was mine I'd first verify compression (or lack of) by running a compression test. Take a look down into the spark plug holes and see if you find trace of any coolant, as well as inspecting the spark plugs for signs of burning coolant. I know those engines are notorious for the thermostat housing cracking and leaking coolant so that may be the root cause. As popular as those cars are to mod and own the specs should be easily available online. Autozone rents the compression test kit out for a deposit of like $20. They aren't as accurate as a tool trucks but it will give a good idea on compression numbers. Also check the condition of the oil on the dipstick.
  2. I bought my Saturn SL1 for $2,000 in amazing condition. I'd look into those, single cam motors that really don't need much maintenance wise. You can find some good ones for your price range. I wouldn't buy an auto in these cars with that many miles though. Those are all over Craigslist right now. It may need a little thing here or there but for the price you pay it's not a bad deal. As stated you can't go wrong with a Honda or Toyota. Parts are cheap and plentiful.
  3. Boom. This is thousands if not damn near a million Americans I'd bet. Even as a pain reliever, it doesn't tear your kidneys or lover near as much as those high strength prescriptions are said to.
  4. More very well made points. An old roommate smokes constantly. He interned with Boeing for system engineering last summer and is with Epic this summer. Next summer he already has something lined up tentatively with Google and another aerospace company. That is about as good as you can get for betworl engineering...
  5. My mother has Multiple Sclorosis and constant severe sciatic nerve pain. Although she would never use it, I have read a lot of articles about marijuana use benefitting people affected by a chronic issue. Part of the issue in my opinion is the general public being lied to about the effects of marijuana. While some side effects told are true, many are not. My thinking always reverts to my experiences with pot users, most are very relaxed and still fairly productive people compared to an alcoholic. If they have a legitimate reason to use cannibis other than to just get stoned, I'm for it. I know far fewer people with a "marijuana problem" than a drinking problem, every alcoholic I know is almost to the point of self loathing and minimal productivity. We have one of each in my shop, one of which turns good hours, the alcoholic...though..He is lucky to make 15-22. For me it is a no brainer. If anything start with medical marijuana, to get our feet wet so to speak, then possibly branch out into 100% legality assuming things go well.
  6. The dealership I work for uses a company called high tech locksmiths, I have no personal experience with them though. The name implies they should be able to help or point you in the right direction though. If I see them on the lot today ill run it by them.
  7. Likely will be out on the bike.
  8. Same day as my birthday. Maybe I can get my rusted out sports car done by then and come out and impress the ricers.
  9. Cougars need to be involved in some way, shape or form or I'm not coming. Also don Gino's, no don Gino's no care. Did I mention cougars?
  10. When I was at Firestone I did a few ignition switches on those, as well as starters. The starters can be done fairly easily. A lot of people will say to drop the front cv axle but you can sneak up around it with extensions and a swivel. 2 of them I've replaced needed both the starter and ignition switch. Not sure if it was a fluke or a lot do that.
  11. Until 10 or shortly before then we head to Sonic.
  12. I've got nothing scheduled today but a lot of seat time on the GSXR so ill wrap up my day there.
  13. I'd be interested in an enduro run if anyone is game. 30 laps would show who can run good laps consistently...
  14. Only way I would buy a GTO is if it was LS2
  15. Had a good time. Thanks for the ride alongs Tom and Aaron. Tom drives like a mad man trying to escape the nut house
  16. Heading out on the bike now. Hopefully it stays dry for awhile. Wouldn't mind getting in a ride along to see what this is all about.
  17. If you spent as much time working on it as you did talking about it in ChatBox you could have done it two times over... I'll be out, hopefully around 6:15 or so. Sonic is basically at the corner of Polaris and Gemini. I'd look up Dick's sporting goods it is more along the lines of Dick's parking than Sonic IMO.
  18. After a couple days in the only complaints I have: 1. The drawer locks only being on about 2" of the right side. This causes the drawer to shift when opened and then it catches on the box with the corner of the drawer. I may find a way to eliminate them. They also catch on a trim piece if I let go of the lock too quickly. 2.The drawers didn't slide well when empty, took a blow gun to the slides, put some silicone lube on them and got some weight in the drawers and they slide pretty good now. 3. Other than those my last gripe is the drawer mats didn't come pre-cut. It sucks having to cut those to length and trim them up. They were nice enough to get the depth right, but cutting to length got irritating.
  19. Got these earlier in the week... http://i.imgur.com/si1EluD.jpg http://i.imgur.com/dDvH7er.jpg
  20. Talked to you twice. Asked you what you ran at the CR rental, and then was standing in your spot before the second heat lol
  21. Went, had fun, save for the fact some prick hit my girlfriend hard enough to make her cry, then laugh about it... Was nice that they got the track cleaned up a little. If I got a 100lb weight break I'd be a lot more competitive lol
  22. Ended up getting the HF 56" Old box is on the left, definitely was busting at the seams after a few pruchases this week. Was $1199.99 before their "sale" price of $799.99, had a small dent on a handle and a scratch I buffed out, got it for $650. http://i.imgur.com/ZPn4Qed.jpg
  23. Welcome to every tire chain in America. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't heard shit like that at Firestone. Sounds like grumpy old shit's who just wanna bump the toe in and be done in 5 minutes and collect their 1.2 hour.
