An Iraq vets tale of terror, herroism and PTSD.
owndjoo replied to Sturg1647545502's topic in Dumpster
The biggest thing here about the civilian vs. military PTSD is the level of the issue. Yes, here in the states there are rapes, muggings, murders, kidnapping, etc. And yes, these are traumatic events that could lead to cases of PTSD. However, the level of effects for such events would be quite lower than those of a Veteran who's been through the harshness of places like Fallujah, Ramadi, and Kandahar. A single traumatic event will never be as bad as repetitive exposure to such instances over 6 mos to a year, and often multiplied over multiple deployments. Using PTSD as a defense for a crime? This would be dependent upon the specific crime and the details surrounding it. A vet suffering serious PTSD who unwittingly reacts to a situation which in turn results in a crime, I could see this being an instance for such a defense. I also would see it as any other mental condition, where the accused should undergo the treatment he/she needs even if that means a court order. Just my .02 -
What kinda car are you looking for? My buddy runs/owns Ross Premier Motors in Mt. Vernon. Used to be a new jeep/dodge/chrysler dealership, but now focuses on used vehicles. He's got a couple locations now. Check it out and let me know if youre going to head up there and I'll give him a ring. http://www.rossrpm.com/

i'm not agreeing with what they are doing. I'm just saying that that is their little loophole they are trying to use. AKA, they are still doing the exact same thing. They say they aren't trying to change his name, True, but they are asking him to use another sign(language). which is still complete BS.

I second Oakhaven. It's my home course, it's near the Hangout. I can talk to some of the guys there about an outing.

notice they keep saying that they aren't trying to change his name, but that they use the ASL form of sign language. They are trying to get him to use a different "language" for his name. aka the ASL sign for his name instead of the current Exact English

Which trading services? TD Ameritrade? Scott Trade? Fidelity? Other
owndjoo replied to Jackson1647545504's topic in Dumpster
I use Scottrade as well... and I'm actually an RR. lol. It's fine for some things, but any real coin and I would go with an actual adviser/brokerage firm. This is what I do for my career, I consider these accounts gambling at this point. unless you are going with ETF's or some other kind of indexed/fund. Buying single stocks can be extremely tricky. -
exactly! the more done you want it, the lower the heat. Rare=Hot as you can get it, well done=Low and Slow

tried the fast method this weekend. Buehler's Prime Top sirloin, sea salt, 30 min in room temp, olive oil, peppercorn grind, high heat on the grill 5min flip then 5 min. about 6 min cool time. best steak I have ever had outside of $40 high end restaurants... even rivaled those. It was a little more medium rare than I usually like, but it was still quite warm, and soooo juicy. will use this from now on.

Just wanted to say thanks for you guys gettin me that RIA 1911 2011 Tactical last week. Took it out this weekend and it shoots fantastic!

open carry can serve as a deterrent. most criminals are pansies when it comes to committing crimes against innocent people. Concealed gives you the "surprise" advantage, but usually if someone see's that a person is carrying, they will change their mind and walk away. Most of the time these people aren't going in to kill someone, they actually dont want any confrontation whatsoever, which is why they pull a weapon. just my .02 from experience.

was about to say the same thing. the law here for traffic stops has a few little things in there for disarming during, and even holding onto after, the stop.

You already know that I'm in for this.

Book signing at Hangout Saturday, May 18th @ noon

That's awesome! too bad I have drill this weekend... -
all depends on who makes the call and the scene upon arrival. cops show up and nothing looks suspicious and there is no sign of a situation then there is no longer PC. Officers double check that they have the right address and knock on the door. if they are refused entry then that's that, unless there is a sign of a crime being or about to be committed. Domestic violence is one of the toughest situations for law enforcement. A lot of time is put forth in the training for these situations. The biggest issue is that emotions can get in the way of judgement. I've been through a good deal of this training and scenarios being played out. If the person is denying your entry, that is not grounds for PC. Just as if denying search of your vehicle is not itself PC for a search. Obviously we do not know all of this situation and what actions may have led up to this.

i tried to dispute a seatbelt ticket when I was 17. Showed up with a witness (passenger in the car) in a full suit fully prepared. We both made our statements that I was in fact wearing my seat belt, officer stated that I wasn't, however when he had pulled up behind me after the "10 seconds it took to pull a u-ey and catch up" he stated that I was in fact wearing my seatbelt. Judge said that he would take the word of a sworn officer whom he has seen testify many times in his court over two teenagers. paid my fine...
