  1. you're gonna have to tell me your secret to savings
  2. i agree, they basic pistol stuff for CCW is just to satisfy the law. I too believe people need WAY more training to truly be able to carry with confidence and safely. I plan on doing IDPA events when i come back from my USAF security forces training next summer.
  3. aight, i may still buy a box just to shoot and see how they are. i used to shoot winchester jhp defense rounds in my .40 glock, but didn't carry at the time. Trying to figure out what to carry in my kel-tec pf9

well, since i passed on a good size 6-point on monday and tuesday, haven't seen any more bucks. however I did have one wheeze at me before sunrise about midweek, scared the shit outta me. he was about 20 yards away to my 4 o' clock. had what appeared to be a very young buck come right up to my blind this morning, stomping and staring at me when i was grunting. Thought about taking his momma, but was holding out for a buck... oh well, still have the rest of bow and the extended gun season
  6. has anyone any experience with sub sonic rounds? i've thought about trying them to help with the overpenetration and kick of my subcompact.
  7. they never said he was in her class... she was reprimanded, let it go. now if they were bangin... then that'd be a little different
  8. the ACOG is meant for more intense situations, it's made to use with both eyes open. so for target/hunting applications i would say you are better with a low mag scope
  9. the question is, what is he using it for? Idk about you, but i'm not into shooting under 100 yds with any rifle. 3.5x is fine

i admit that in a situation in which open carry deters it is good. however if it only makes you a target then it is bad. there are good and bad parts of both. However in the public situation I prefer to remain unknown unless i need to use my weapon

there are real world examples of people busting/driving into buildings and opening fire on strangers. look it up. I've seen multiple reports before. One such that comes to mind the assailant was killed by a man with a concealed gun. Now had a person been carrying openly in that situation things may or may not have ended differently. I agree that a smart criminal would be deterred by the sight of a weapon, however it is the mentally unstable/extremely desperate that no one can predict how they will act. Yes, the situations I speak of are extremely rare, however it only takes one incident.

the plain clothes officer situation isn't just a bank. if you just shoot someone who has a gun pulled you are breaking the law. unless the weapon is pointed at you or you know exactly what the situation is, you cannot fire on someone. ft. hood is used as an example of crazy people and their unpredictability, just like school shootings, and the incidents of random shootings around the country.

that's smart, you just shot a plain clothes officer.... concealing allows for you to assess the situation before you draw/show your weapon. and ok, maybe they don't "bust" in, but there are still bank robberings involving multiple armed men taking hostages. Remember the shootouts out west?? not to mention if there is ever a terrorist situation that you are caught in the middle of.... There are so many crazy people out there that you can't expect anyone to act any certain way. look at what happened at Ft. Hood. There are many cases in which people have just walked in and shot people for no apparent reason. Who gets targeted first? Perceived threats.

it's common tactical sense. a group of people bust in to rob a bank. if they intend to use lethal force on armed guards, more than likely they are going to use the same on anyone else that they see with a gun. remember, people usually think that a person with an open carry is usually a cop, either plain clothes or off duty.

have you ever open carried in a crowded area? getting bumped into constantly makes it hard to tell a person's intent. think of a pick pocket. Also, you've gotta think that if they see that you have a gun, you become a target in a situation. they will shoot first. whereas if they think you are unarmed, you slide under the radar.

or they just walk up behind you and try to pull it out and use it against you... i'd rather have the element of surprise

i'll just be sure to wear my ACU's if i'm gonna open carry... JK!! concealed is the only way i'll carry in public, what's the point if the assailant knows ur armed
