  1. they kinda look like cookies. the mint cookies are like a 36 grit sand paper. the glass is a perfectly flat plate then you wrap emory cloth sandpaper around it and parts washer solvent and clean the head. makes a really clean smooth gasket area.
  2. we don't have the gray ones. the new ones with the MLS i never need to do more than hit it with the glass. the older ones with the standerd gasket are the ones i need to get the wiz bang out on. i was teaching that to my school to work kid that works for me. he was about to go ape shit on a head with a new cookie and i had to learn him up quick fast and in a hurry.
  3. that dude is pretty damn ripped to move and hold him self up like that.
  4. i keep that in stock in my tool box at work. what also works good is used 3M cookies, that way they don't chew the head up. i only use them when the gasket is a super bitch to get off the head and the emory would take days to get it all off.
  5. they don't mix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulVtNdClhb8

    Lunar eclipse tonight

about half covered right now. about 10 should be fully covered.
  14. http://www.spaceweather.com/ http://www.spaceweather.com/swpod2008/28jan08/chat_bubble_icon.gifTOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE: Tonight the full Moon over Europe and the Americas will turn a delightful shade of red. It's a total lunar eclipse—the last one until Dec. 2010. Exactly when should you look? Click here for an animated timetable. http://www.spaceweather.com/swpod2008/19feb08/Hackmann1_strip.jpg As explained in a recent Science@NASA story, red isn't the only color to look for when the Moon glides through Earth's shadow. Observers of several recent lunar eclipses have reported a flash of turquoise. For example, note the upper left corner of the above photo taken by Jens Hackmann during the European lunar eclipse of March 2007. The source of the turquoise is ozone. Earth's ozone layer absorbs red sunlight while allowing blue rays to pass. This has the effect of turning Earth's shadow turquoise-blue around the edges. Look for it during the first and last minutes of totality (10:01 pm EST and 10:51 pm EST).
  15. so like the govenment your taking a sawzall and bumping the price up?
  16. ben, as long as i can fit it in with the autocross. i plan on hitting every one of them. on track i don't have a problem driving alone. its just like when i raced motocross for all those years, i didn't start out fast but with more track time the better i got.
  17. DON'T use the brown disks on the block. it gets the shit in the oil and can wipe out an engine. if anything use the 2" yellow or white rol-loc rubber wheels. i use a gasket scraper that holds a razor blade. GM issued a bulletin a few years back about this and they can find the shit in an oil sample and made alot of dealers pay them back because of engine failure.
  18. from what i have read depending on where you race and what day you race on you have no choice if its one of your first times out. hobby:p
  19. shake and bake......THAT JUST HAPPENED!
  20. unless he is talking about a real track, like the ones with turns that may have a need for a driving instructor:)
  21. i'm already on top of things with my car. the clutch fluid has been flushed already. new brake pads, and tires. i have a road race seat and will be ordering my hard bar and harness in the next week or so. the brake fluid i was holding off on untill it gets closer to race time. and it hasn't been nice enough to drive to work and do it for awile. i was meaning more along the lines of having an driving instructor ride with us and what not.
