I've shot iron sights, eotechs, aimpoints, and acogs at distances from 10-400yds or so and all are adequate. I rarely disagree with flounder, but a red dot is fine at distances greater than 50 yds. It's just a different role than a magnified optic. You always have the option of a 3x magnifier. Also, if you are planning on getting the gg&g mount, don't get the 516 (or others with built in risers) as it will mess up your co-witness. I have a 516 and like it just fine.
  2. I've check a lot of places online and haven't found it for .45, care to share? I did get a good deal on 9mm, but that same place wasn't as good on .45
  3. You should. If you can't figure out what you want, feel free to buy me a nice little J-frame smith.
  4. In stonewall's defense, being that close to Cleveland they don't always get the brightest clientele. Their rifle rules are a direct result of stupid customers. I can't say as if I blame them.
  5. If you want .25 auto or .32 auto walmart has you covered!! Not a single box of 9mm, .40 or .45 yesterday. I hit Brimfield, Kent, Stow, Fairlawn, Wadsworth, Massilon, and Arlington rd. I outsourced a trip to the one in Macedonia as well. Watch, they probably all got ammo shipments in last night. I broke down and found some 9mm online at a price that is slightly cheaper than walmart even with shipping. Still can't find a decent deal on .45 online tho.
  6. If by some miracle my 9mm order comes in, I may stop down and shoot my new glock.
  7. In lieu of a discount, how about they do something about that surface to make it less dangerous for motorcycles when wet. It was scary in 2008, this year was flat out treacherous.
  8. Bad pic but its all I have right now.
  9. I carry my G36 in a Fist #1K (ultra-thin kydex version of their #1 leather holster) and its by far my favorite IWB holster for small to compact guns. I've carried my fullsize 1911 in a #20k for years, but I got a crossbreed for $20 and preferred that. Unfortunately for me, I accidentally threw away the crossbreed and the #1k for the g36 a few weeks ago. I have another one on order with FIST and I'm considering either Raven Concealment (local ohio company) or a Tucker Gunleather holster for the 1911.
  10. The irony is that the crossbreed is a knockoff of The Answer, by Tucker gunleather.
  11. Mail order may be your best bet. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that .380 isn't a high production round to begin with. 9mm dies are different from .380, as the bullet profiles and lengths are different as well as the case diameter so the whole "switch production to 9mm with the same dies" doesn't add up.
  12. There are advantages to buying, but leasing is a good option like rusty said. We just leased 240 acres in Noble county that are next to the 350 my cousin already owned. I think it came out to $16-17 an acre, per year.
  13. Throttle control doesn't begin to address the issue there. When experienced racers/track coaches are falling down with a minor sprinkle, its a surface issue.
  14. I carry a G36 now, which is bigger than the 27 and have no problems. Prior to that my carry piece was a fullsize 1911. I still carry a fullsize 1911 from time to time. The whole "too big to ccw" is almost completely subjective. However, typically the hardest part of concealment is grip length, not necessarily gun width or barrel length, thus making the G27 a good choice. Now if we were talking older Ruger autos, DE's, or Hi points, then yes, a brick is more concealable/easier to carry.
  15. Gas tank full and tracer rounds or you aren't doing it right.
  16. You can get 9mm's that are the same size as the walther, weigh less, and have less felt recoil. Kahr P9 for instance.
  17. That was said in jest, so I vote for calling JHP ammo Frangible after the differences being mentioned several times to be the dumbest statement.
  18. Rumor was SXT stood for Same eXact Thing. The bullet design is different, but my guess is the SXT is just an improved version of the original design. Never heard of frang rounds hurting a barrel, but I could see the logic in shot shells. However, I doubt any casual use would cause any problems. I've used shotshells in my 1911s for snakes and never noticed any barrel issues.
  19. Like I said, get a new attorney. He was wrong on both matters.
  20. I don't speak for everyone, but in every course I've ever taught I have told my students that a single class wasn't going to make them ready to carry, only to meet the legal requirements. I always encourage folks to take additional training from places like TDI, gunsight, etc....
  21. Buy them and a couple other types of self defense ammo. Try them all out and see what works best for you.
  22. Do the research? Hell man I've shot them at waterjugs to compare to other HOLLOWPOINTS. Guess what buddy, they didn't fragment at all. Just expanded like every other hollowpoint we tried that day. For the last time, Black talons and every other JHP you called by name are not FRANGIBLE rounds. TAke any of those rounds, and hit the bullet portion with a hammer. Take a Glaser Safety slug, and hit it with a hammer. Then compare the results. I'm not arguing about the cool to carry comment. I could give a fuck about cool. I'm just tired of 100% wrong information being posted and would prefer to correct you vs having some of the gun newbies take your crap and believe it.
  23. maybe that should've been written non-(gay/cleavethegreat) way?
  24. leave kawi kid out of this, today is pick on cleave day.
  25. You mean that in a non-gay/cleavethegreat way right?
