Todd, the AR-15 is the Mr. Potato Head of the gun world. You can get them in nearly any configuration imaginable. Different barrel lengths, barrel profiles, grips, accessory rails, optics, slings, colors, etc.... In order to give any advice on that stuff, it helps to know what you want it for. Home defense, service rifle matches, varmint hunting, target shooting/plinking, killing zombies or to just piss off liberals. All that said, get yourself a basic M4 clone with backup iron sights. It's a good starter AR15 and you can go crazy from there. Stag is the only one I know of that makes a full lefty rifle. I wouldn't bother with it tho. Get the rifle, try it out, add accessories or gadgets as budget allows. R1crusher kept his pretty simple, but went all out on duracoat.

FYI botach has a pretty crummy reputation, hope you don't have any problems. I used a surefire light similar to that for a tactical rifle class, the guys on either side of me didn't bother using their lights during the night shooting it was that bright.
