  1. Sean, as you well know, the Ultralite is not particularly well engineered. The rear suspension is a train wreck. Both of the Ultralite's at the GASS event had their rear suspensions totally reengineered and replaced. After going over the one at your shop, I would never touch one personally. They do have lots of shiny pieces and look cool; just not a great car for the money. There are better, less expensive, Lotus 7 clones out there.
  2. Posting for a friend. This is my old tow vehicle, and Brian has done a nice job reconditioning it. It is good for towing an open trailer or smallish enclosed trailer (<18ft). However, he did take the faux sheepskin seat cover off the driver's seat which I refuse to forgive him for. Contact Brian directly at the number or email below. "We have a new tow vehicle now, and thought I would offer this one up on here since after all, it has been OVR Owned almost its entire life. I've had it for over a year, Rich Grunenwald had it from 1998 on, so you can check with him or myself regarding its history all you'd like. 1997 GMC Yukon SLT 2WD (better milage & tow capacity) Smokey Caramel in color 5.7L V8 w/ 3.73 gears. Power everything Keyless Entry Tow package Leather Interior [with expected wear] Rear A/C w/ controls Privacy Glass on all but front windows & windshield 159500 miles Prior to buying it from Rich, he had the transmission replaced and it carried a warranty with it, if I remember correctly. [never have had any problems with it]. Below is a list of new parts on the truck. New Tires [Goodyear Wranglers, approx 4000 miles] New Front Brake Rotors & Ceramic Pads New Rear Brake Shoes [drums were in fine shape] New U-joints on the driveshaft New Idler Arm New Pitman Arm New Front Tie Rods [both inner and outer, driver & passenger side] New Spark Plugs New 8.5mm MSD type wires New Distributor Cap New Distributor Rotor New Air Filter New Battery New Serpentine Belt New Monroe Sensatrac Shocks [Front & Rear] New AirLift Air Bags on rear [for increased load capacity] Hypertech's new MaxEnergy Power Programmer [only will remain on with full asking price] The truck runs great, with the milage I colaborated with Rich to know what had and hadn't been done on the truck in awhile. I replaced all the above as precautionary more than necessary. He had towed a large enclosed trailer with it without problem. For those who do not know, I towed an open trailer with race car with out problem. This site has the comprehensive outside pictures (inside pics to come upon request). http://www.crxmotorsports.com/Yukon It shows the few scratches, one small surface rust spot, and a few dings on the passenger side, and one on the back door. Please feel free to ask for additional pictures or questions. Air conditioning blows cold both front and rear, all electrical parts work fine. I cannot think of any concerns I have with this truck or any 'quirks' that do not work. I have looked over pricing on KBB and NADA. I am asking $5500 for it. I cannot check the forum during the day so for questions or picture requests, please email me at Brian [at] CRXMotorsports.com or call me day/evening 419.631.3912 Thanks for looking!"
  3. BTW, the Rolex cars are on SPEED right now. I am surprised there's not a blackout for us here.
  4. The Komi Challenge series is Sunday, and that is good racing particularly at Mid Ohio.
  5. My $.02: - I like it a lot and would love to have one, but at the money they want there are lots of alternatives I would consider. - At the current weight they really are pigs. There is no excuse for an impractical street car to be over 3500 lbs., even a pony car. Fast and sexy yes, but a pig nonetheless. I long for a light, quick, car that handles. Like the Lotus Elise. But then I am more of a sports car guy, so I guess it's a matter of taste. - GM did miss the target yet again. First, the retro Mustang. Then Chrysler with the Challenger. Who is in third? The new Camaro will have to be so much better than the other two in order to attract any attention at all. My bet is the only folks that buy them will be the die hard GM fans and guys my age that miss the Camaro they had in college. Of course, if any of the Detroit car makers had it together at all, they would realize they need to be innovative for a change and really do something to make enthusiasts interested in their products.

  7. Next weekend is a divisional level autocross at Cooper Stadium. The "Great American Solo Series" visits central Ohio and is hosted by the Ohio Valley Region SCCA. The event runs both on Saturday and Sunday, and class winners are determined by combining the best times from each day. Details at: http://www.soloseries.org/2008/OVR08fl.pdf Cars should be running each day from about 10a to 4p. I am in the white 1989 Civic Si, #81 or 181. Stop by and say hello. Check it out! Rich
  8. Ditto that. Also, me and Ben are official "Novice Mentors" (or something like that - they didn't give us business cards!). If you are a CR member coming out for the first or second time, be sure to introduce yourself and ask questions. I have the white 1989 Civic Si hatch, numbers 81 / 181, class STS. Tow vehicle is blue Suburban with gray enclosed trailer. Rich
  9. I was in the white Civic #81. Come up and say howdy! Rich
  10. The Duster is a babe magnet.
  11. I second J Thomas Davis. They are nice folks, been around a long time, and do great work. They set up mine a few months ago and it has never played so well. Rich
  12. +1. Better to learn in a lower power car. Plus the stock suspension in the RSX is decent so it won't have any terrible characteristics. I am in the white Honda Civic, STS#81. Stop by and say hello. Ask any questions you need to. Happy to help.
  13. 1994 Camaro Z28, hardtop, automatic transmission. Very good condition - has never been raced or rodded. Original owner was a mechanic and it was his pride and joy. At 74k miles or so, he sold it to owner #2 who was an engineer at GE in Cincinnati. Owner #2 drove it back and forth to work, a 55 mile round trip every day. We bought it about a year ago at 94k miles, and it now has 99k miles on it. We are selling as we purchased a "beater". We have pretty much all maintenance records. Synthetic oil since break in. One minor accident in left rear quarter panel - you wouldn't know it if we didn't tell you. Excellent body and interior with no rust or rips. Upholstery is really nice. Pioneer CD Deck, MTX power amp and subwoofer. Car runs great: new plugs and wires at around 70k, transmission fluid and filter at about 95k miles. New battery abou a month ago. Magnaflow stainless steel cat-back exhaust - sounds very nice. Will change oil and filter before selling. Our gas mileage has been around 18 MPG in the city and 24 MPG in straight highway driving. Issues: A/C compressor needs replaced. Front tires should be replaced soon; rears are fine. We looked long and hard for a Z28 before purchasing this one. If you have looked at used Z28's at a reasonable price, you know most have been not cared for as well as they should. This one is an exception and shows it. Pictures at: http://picasaweb.google.com/Rich.Grunenwald/1994CamaroZ28ForSale Price: $4,750 / reasonable offers. "Reasonable" does not mean $2,000 and your old heap. No trades whatsoever. Serious inquiries only; please do not inquire if you don't have the cash to purchase.
  14. Ben, I just went through this same decision making process and would be happy to talk to you sometime. Ring me up or maybe I'll see you at the Test N Tune. Rich
  15. Need either: - Two (2) tires, size 235/55-16, minimum 6/32" tread or - Four (4) tires, size 245/50-16, minimum 6/32" tread. These are for a 4th gen Camaro. PM or eMail. Thanks!
  16. BikeBandit is pretty good. They have pretty much everything and good service.
  17. I bought my first bike a couple years ago after taking the MSF course. My criteria were similar to yours except I am more average size. I rode several sport bikes and just couldn't get used to them. Personally, most cruisers don't do much for me so I wasn't interested in those. I really wanted a Honda ST1300 or other sport tourer, but they were outside of my budget. I bought a 1975 Honda CB750 and am very happy with it. It fits my adolescent image of what a bike should look like, and the orange metallic paint is very '70's. It is a classic bike so it doesn't have some of the niceties of newer ones, and the seat gets uncomfortable after a couple hours, but it is easy to ride and gets attention where ever I go. I paid $1000 for it, and have another $1000 in it to replace a couple of things, rebuild the carbs, etc. I just traded a car for another classic bike, a 1975 GL1000 Goldwing. This is not like the current Goldwings; it is a naked bike, and (I think) very cool. At the time, it was the second quickest production bike made. It is a bit more contemporary than the CB750 as it has shaft drive and better brakes. The thing with older bikes is that 1) they are old and you need to stay on top of them, and 2) you need to get one that has been reasonably well cared for otherwise it will be a money pit. If you are the type that takes your car in for all maintenance and repairs, then I would not recommend a classic bike. But, if you are reasonably good with cars, then classic bikes can be bunches of fun. There is a very good write up somewhere on "How to Buy a Used Motorcycle" that I used, but I can't remember where. Good luck! Rich
  18. I received over 40 responses and inquiries to my ad for these seats, including three offers to purchase them at significantly over the asking price. I apologize for not responding to inquiries in a more timely manner. However, I have sold them to the first person who inquired. Thanks to all who responded. Mods, lock'r up! Rich

  20. I have a pair of black racing style seats that I came upon as part of a trade. They are black material with some red stitching. Both seats are in good to very good condition, and seem to be good quality unlike the Pep Boys specials. They are currently mounted on EG Civic sliders, but I suspect would adapt to others. I was going to use them for a project car but went in another direction. Now they are sitting in my garage taking up space. $125 for the pair. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r228/31rx7/HondaSeats01.jpg Please PM or email me to discuss. Located in Hilliard near St. Brendan's Church. Thanks. Rich
