  3. that helmet cam vid was sweet! pretty messed up the other dude took him out. nice pass on the sumo, then you were gone! also, i was supposed to buy a fairing stay off a guy from the NJ group that was there, but he never got back to me.......so, i bought it from someone else.

  6. ok, this morning i found two containers, one of ceramic and one of glass, both had lids with rubber seals and a clamping device to keep out air. i didnt want to use plastic as the plastic may react with the fluid and corrupt the results. i filled each with about an inch of brake fluid, one with 4 and one with 5.1, and place a 3 inch, or so, piece of teflon tape and submerged the tape. i sealed the jars and let them soak. after about 12-13 hours the tape is in the same state (feels the same with the same pull strength (by my hand)). now, i just wanted to test the effect of brake fluid on teflon, so i realize that the added heat and pressure may change the result. but, i cant imagine it would do much in the end. i will leave the tape soaking for a while to see what happens.
  7. i wouldnt think it would come into play since the seal is actually created at the tapered end of the bleeder, not on the threads. and the tape would only come into contact with the fluid during bleeding (once the bleeder was tightened the tape is rendered useless as a sealant). so, now i'm curious to know if brake fluid is something that liquifies teflon........i've got some in the garage, dot 4 and 5.1, i'll let it soak today and post the results.
  8. yeah, my TLR. i put a lot of work into it. reworked heads, marchesini mags, penske rear, thermosman forks, etc, etc. and the worst part was that i was so convinced that an inline 4 was the next step for me that i sold it to some douchebag that refered to it as a 'crothrocket'.........WHATS WRONG WITH ME?!?!?!?!?! well, i'm off........to drink myself to sleep.

  11. well, i saw today on the news that the acorn worker recogninzed them right off as frauds and decided to play their game and think of ideas as shocking as the questions they were asking. that explains it all (typed with sarcasm).

  13. also, on bleeders (stock or otherwise) consider taking the bleeders out and using thread sealer (teflon tape or otherwise) so that you dont draw air in through the threads.

    the written test is not doo difficult. i've had mine for about 12 yrs, so i'm a little foggy on the exact course. but, some of the things i remember about the course are making a right-hand turn with a cone set as the corner and a line with measurement painted on the ground. you have to make the turn and keep your trailer as close to the cone as possible without hitting it and there were cones accross the 'street' to mark where the curb would be and you couldnt hit them either. there was a backing section where you had to put the trailer in a box just big enough for it to fit so that the tractor was jackknifed at 90 degs. i think i had to back in a straight line for some distance. sorry, cant remember too much more. however, on the driving test pay very close attention to the road signs. i was asked about a clearance sign that was ahead, but we turned before it. also, know which lane you can go into when making a right turn (you can go into the opposing lane of the road onto which you are turning, not the road on which you are currently traveling, etc). watch for no parking signs, no trucks, etc. slow down to an appropriate speed for train tracks and be sure to be accelerating (under power, rather) over them. stuff like that, putting what you've learned in the book to use. also, the truck will more than likely be a single axle day cab with an automatic, so that helps too. i took my test at a private test center so my experience may be different than yours. hope this helps!

  16. more on that... i'm not sure that overfilling would have that sudden of an effect. i would think you would have premature engine bearing wear, very long term, and you would experience some power loss from the drag, which should warn you that something is wrong. besides the fact that pretty much every engine has some sort of windage tray and SS motos also have a basic design of a crank scraper. this would greatly help reduce the effect of oil drag......why they're there, actually. not saying you're wrong, just never heard of that situation, myself. however, grossly overfilling a crankcase (on any engine) would allow the crankshaft to whip, or airate the oil; thereby, making it very difficult for the pump to draw and wouldnt take long, at all. this would give greatly reduced oil pressure, much like running with no oil, and cause bearings to seize. especially difficult to detect if you use synthetic oil due to its superior lubricating properties. also, i think this would happen several minutes before the engine would produce excessive crankcase pressure, due to the lessened air volume, and cause excessive blow-by into the air box. in this case, it would look like you were running a two stroke. also, the engine would, likely, blow any number of seals (crank - either end, output shaft, clutch rod shaft, etc) which would cause a pretty good leak. so, all that being said, i wouldnt hesitate to say that as long as it isnt above the sight glass you're probably ok, and anyone feel free to do your own research, the above is from my personal experience. but, i'm not an expert, nor am i properly insured to give such advice. that's why it was free!

  19. its difficult for me to pick 5, but i tend to drink PBR or High Life when times or tough or i'm hanging out with hipsters. but, lately i've been drinking Carlsberg almost exclusively. i buy it by the 6 pack at the krogers in georgesville square but have some difficulty finding it elsewhere. there are two bars that carry it on tap up by polaris, Claddagh and The Pub. i suggest having it out of the bottle, though.
