  1. suxors. As mentioned before that could have been completely avoided by actually using some common sense with the track design and safety prep. At least it was probably quick for the driver.
  2. as I said before....not in the bottle. Nothing significant changes once it's bottled. Eric it sounds like you've got your answer. The bottle is worth more than the whiskey, but a bottle collector might be looking for one unopened and that could give it more worth.
  3. ^^ you know what else would make a great dedicated track car for you? My M3!!! I'll trade you straight up for the 996 that I borrowed from your garage with some antiques in it.
  4. funny plate. decent intro. Not a fan of the doors, but hopefully you're removing them along with the STI badge. I'll give you a pass based on effort alone and being able to take some of the initial negative comments. But I'm not going to get you out of the hole alone, so you better come up with something here.
  5. in the short checking around I did, the whiskey in the bottle itself is pretty much without worth. However, if you can find someone who really likes the history of Kentucky bourbon then it's likely worth a decent chunk to them as a collectors item. The problem will be finding that person and a way to sell it to them. Probably time to make a trip to the bourbon trail in KY.

I like the color. Welcome to the site.
  7. get's better with age in the barrel....not the bottle. So it's just a matter of if it's hard to find that individual whiskey anymore and if there's a demand for it. I don't know the answer to either of those, but I'll check around a bit and see if I come up with something.
  8. since it sounds like you already have the project car, and others have already told you how they pay for their projects, let me add this tidbit. MAKE A PLAN FOR THE CAR AND STICK TO IT! You'll never get it done, and you'll spend twice as much money as intended if you just go thru each little step on the car as it comes up and you say "well, I could do this now while I'm in here." It'll drive you broke in no-time and you'll spend you entire budget to only see the car sitting there. You can physically write it down or sit in front of your computer and type it out, doesn't matter, but it needs to be done. Sit down and first develop an idea for the car as a whole. Once you think you have an idea of how you'd like that to go, then you can look at specific components and develop how you think you'll actually make the car become what you want it to (drivetrain, interior, suspension, brakes). THEN...and this is the important step...put together a realistic idea on what it will cost to do what you just laid out. You can't lie to yourself and say you're going to buy a LS1 running longblock with ECU and T-56 for $1000. Once your budget is done if it's too much (say your idea for the whole car was to be done for $12K and you just spent $9K of your budget on the motor) you may need to go back and rethink some steps/parts/priorities. Once you have that plan laid out, manage to it. You might have to skip on upgrading to roller rockers so that you can get the disk conversion for the rear etc. Without a plan like this that's how many projects end up never being finished, they're in project car purgatory. The other upside to working toward the plan is that it'll help you with the issue of wanting to be done right now. You'll be able to check off parts of the plan and track your progress.
  9. Cinergi is his username on this site. I thought it looked familiar.
  10. nice pickup on the MR2. Is that Greg's (Cinergi) car? I remember him mentioning he was thinking about trading for a wrx. Welcome to the site.
  11. Go see Derek as he mentioned above. Myself and Audion19s have all of our cars aligned there and he's able to take care of all of our goofy requests for settings. Bottom line is that if you've got something that's adjustable, then he can set it where you want it.
  12. nice numbers Derek. Glad to see it's coming together.
  13. Bump for a good seller. Thanks for the pickup Andrew.
  14. Andy and Rob are spot on. You'll want a dedicated set for the track. Plus swapping them out is a good way to force yourself to look over everything in the brake system and around the wheels before going to the track. HT-10s or the DTC equivalent would be my hawk recommendation. The other brands Rob mentioned are also worth checking out, I just have the most of my experience hawk. As for the EBC Yellows....the upside to them was that they did actually take the heat and resist fading. The downside was that other than that they're pretty much crap. I did finally get them hot and they would stop quite well, but the feel, consistency, and modulation was crap. I'd take a pass on these bad boys. I guess the other upside to them was that they were the most "livable" on the street (the drive from my place to the track) in terms of cold temp stopping. They dust like crazy though and I'd never use them as a street pad.
  15. lucky duck. Now when you want to part with THAT bad boy you let me know.
  16. you know Amanda and I there for whatever you guys need.
  17. haha...yep, track days killed my door handle too, but I figured it was worth a shot. What condition are the black floor mats in? What roll bar did you put in? I've been casually waiting to see if Race Shop is ever going to offer their roll bar again, but I'm not holding my breath.
  18. don't be cranky now. We can talk about this at dinner Friday. I think the 996 needs a little bit of leg stretching.
  19. HA. A couple people actually asked if I was you. I've been to 3 out of the 4 events and driven a different car each time. I was honestly thinking about continuing to borrow cars and drive my wife's car and the truck...I think I wouldn't have to drive the same car twice until September 19th. so what's the 996 doing this Saturday morning?
  20. that works. I'm pretty flexible tomorrow as well. I need to run some errands, but can probably meet up sometime in the afternoon. You want to PM me your number so I can give you a call tomorrow? Chris
  21. I'm always open to trying whatever. You going to be up at the shop tonight? I'm not positive I'm going to make it out, but I'm trying.
  22. what are these "specialty" cigars you're peddling off on me now Bob? You give discounts for shop regulars? HAHA.
  23. what's your schedule like Friday?
  24. hrm....is the passenger door handle broken like all seem to be? If not I'd be interested. Also possibly the driver's side door pocket cover. Mine is all scratched up. What kind of shape is the carpet in?
  25. I should be there. Trying to figure out which car to bring. May steal the 67' Caddy to cruise down, but I haven't driven the FD in a while and I do love the smell of oil burning in the morning.
