  1. that came out really well. Erik....KEEP THE WING OFF!
  2. so why's the idle stuck? Does the Tec3 control the OMP or are you disabling it and premixing all the time?
  3. seeing as it would be close to home for most of us. How much to shoot a car? Can we be creative with it.....like you riding in the back of my ol' pickup (with my buddy driving) while I blow by in the FD so you can get a good shot of the flames out of the back?.....you know....just thinking
  4. I run Hawks on both of my cars. As Andy mentioned, any track duty will kill the HPS's...they're just not made for that. I've run HP+ at the track in my FD, but it's a light car with big brakes so your results may vary. Honestly if you want to track your car, the only reasonable way to get the best of both worlds for street/track is to buy and run 2 different sets of pads. HPS for the street, and some DTCs for the track.
  5. I'm not big on blue cars, but the car is hot. Welcome in.
  6. looks good. Those real LMs or reps?
  7. dig it, and the panasport reps are on-point for that car. I'll admit that I was partial to the 2 door as well. Also, the round headlights get my vote!!!
  8. Welcome aboard. I believe we met briefly at the Cars and Coffee meet.
  9. hahaha...trust me my friend, your WS6 is clean enough to make my 2 cars seem as much junkers as my old pick up truck I drive during the winter. Oh, and I am married, it's just that before we got married I made sure to tell her about this disease I have that would require me to buy a FD.
  10. it was first noticed on the RS4 when it came out, but I also heard of people with 335's experiencing the same issues. The basics were that the DI engines were experiencing fuel dillution which in turn was reducing the viscosity of the oil VERY prematurely. Most people with RS4s were basically only getting 1K miles before the viscosity fell off. It's been a while since I read up on it though so they may have come up with a solution. At the time it was to use a synthetic specifically for the problem that was about $12/quart.
  11. Thorne, to hit on your question about your friend's 135i....ever since BMW (and other OEM's for that matter) started offering "free maintenance" for the first few years of a vehicle's life....all of a sudden the maintenance intervals doubled. SO. If he is leasing the vehicle, then I'd say let him get the free stuff at 15K and don't worry about it. If he actually intends on owning the car one minute out of warranty/lease then he better change it much more often than that. Plus with the newer direct injected engines many people are having severe fuel dillution problems. Check out BITOG for more info on that. As for my vehicles: The old truck gets standard Valvoline every 3K, the M3 gets mobil 1 every 3-ish K, and the FD gets dino Castrol every one thousand miles...fuel dillution is a bitch.
  12. I'll be honest, that blows. Likely this is in response to the fact that they've been trying to get rid of front plates (and thus increasing profits by charging the same for only making one plate) but had it shot down each time. Problem is that I have 3 cars registered in my name and I'm sure that my wife will love the fact that having a personal plate on the FD DOUBLES the cost of the registration for that car.
  13. the way I understand it is that if you have your race license you'll be in the different "test and tune" sessions. I'm imagining something similar to a NASA HPDE4 group for those. I'm sure you can take your street car as long as it passes tech. You're probably correct on the groupings for the non-racers. When I went back and read it again, only the highest group will not be a follow-the-leader format with the instructors so I'm betting it'd be pretty boring unless you get signed off to do that high group.
  14. you've perked my interest. Who did the port work and built the motor? Who's going to tune it? What ECU did you decide on finally?
  15. HAHAHA. Funny to see Clay, but I can certainly relate. There wasn't even though room for one of my rear tires in the "hatch" area on the FD. I had one in the front seat and the other just kinda thrown behind the seats. Thank goodness I didn't have to try for all 4.
  16. I'm hoping to have the M3 available to come out to this one. I really enjoyed the last one and it was a great way to start the weekend.
  17. It was nice getting to meet some new people, I definitely need to be better about introducing myself as well. Problem is that I kept staring at that damn Bel Air...completely badass car. Casey if you want to take the FD for a spin you're more than welcome. I'm sure after you get out and realize that smell sticks with you...you'll be cured of your envy.
  18. Sounds very nice Doc. It's great for you to put this together for everyone. I'll probably bring the M3 out as I'd hate to leak oil all over the place at your nice new building.
  19. yeah, i think the ultimate question will be what does it really take to get into the "open" group where you're not forced to follow the instructors. They mention providing proof of past experience and an instructor signoff. I'm fine with the signoff, but not sure what documentation they really want...like receipts or something? If I were a club racer I'd be REALLY stoked about the test and tune they're offering there as I guarantee it's the cheapest track time you'll get at Mid-Ohio anytime soon. I do not have a competition license though and don't plan on getting one so it's not an option for me.
  20. interesting....almost like a Funday format it sounds like, except with the lead/follow stuff. Curious as to how they'll do groups and what the restrictions are. It's certainly closer than Nelson and everybody loves running at Mid-Ohio. Color me a bit skeptical at this point though....you going Rob?
