  1. Shrug, I had a great time and got some valuable experience with rain tires and learning Nelson since I had never been there. I don't see what happened as any different then what has happened at other tracks with other orgs. STT shutdown Mid Ohio my first TD due to the rain and no one complained since it was the smart and safe thing to do. Did it suck to lose time on the bike yeah, but going out and destroying the bike would have been even worse. As said, you pay for the day and most of us got a discount to start with. (Thx Jbot!) No, the weather wasn't cooperating with us as most of us would have liked and it wasn't a super speed/push the limits day. But $105-$125 for a TD is dirt cheap compared to the $195 of Mid Ohio, Motorcycle Xcitement-$225 and Nesba $145-$205. Choosing to go out or not then became a personal preference on how you felt on if you wanted to ride. No organization should be punished for that. As for the front straight flooding, at least they had the equipment to drain it as fast as possible. I was even out there helping them to streamline the hoses so we could all get back on as fast as possible. Even Mid Ohio has drainage problems in sections when it pours like that. (T8 right hander) and the small stream when you come out of thunder valley. Grattan has T5 that floods out along with some of T10. If it concerns you that much, then do what Dubguy and others have done (myself included) and hold off until you see the weather forecast. Other then that, be willing to deal with unpredictable situations or go buy rain tires from the tire vendors and have at it. No way I would have tried even a portion of what I was doing without rain tires, but pretty sure most people there knew when I was out riding and I had a blast doing it. Just my $.02, but if your going to want to do a LOT of TD's it's better to be prepared for such things.
  2. Depends on how confindent you feel being intermediate. If you feel ok, sign-up for intermediate and if it ends up being too much you can bump down to novice. I bumped down from advanced to intermediate/open last weekend due to rain/new track.
  3. Will do man. Gonna wait till it gets a bit closer to the date to register. My wera race is the 30th/1st at nelson.
  4. So buy some ya slacker! They are truely worth it if it does rain. Would you rather spend 300-350 on tires or more on parts and a helmet! It would make coaching less stressful I'd imagine with a less worry about tires face planting you.
  5. I honestly had a fun time. The closeout suit from IP did a great job and kept me dry other then boots and gloves. It started to tear at the leg and white lining, so definitely not rated for 100+. And the Michelin Rain tires did a supurb job of sticking down to the track. Only had a small front push/slide the last session when I got ballsy and tried to push thru one of the small puddles coming into the front straight.
  6. When I get home I'm gonna check my schedule and see if I can make this one.
  7. Would be interested in seeing or hearing what photographer was there taking pics. I didn't get anything worthwhile and my go pro crapped out. Time for new batteries.
  8. Had a great time and it was nice to meet everyone! Must say rain tires are the way to go and Nelson is pretty fun once you get use to it and soften some things up. My apologies to the novice class time with the fly-bys
  9. Ill be with nick, but I'll try to help whomever I can tomorrow.
  10. CBR'S are simple. Unplug heading connectors at the bulb and remove passenger rearseat to locate the taillight connector and unplug it. Same for turn signals if you wanted...but i just left mine on and taped them up back in the day.
  11. Sucks! Why i keep mine garaged with motion sensors watching over.
  12. If anyone is still needing help/transport up to Nelson, I have a trailer spot open for another bike. Can take gear/equipment also if needed, and accept donations for gas money
  13. When you go through Tech, they have a box/folder with the contingency stickers/decals. Other then that, you can often find vendors with them. You list your contingency on your pre-tech form and they verify it on post race inspection.
  14. I got 10th and 6th, but was still running about 4 seconds off my pace from last year. Mental demons from VIR last year still lingering. Glad I was in front of that crap, but we got red flagged in both of our races on the first lap....Meatginder group 4tL!
  15. I'm just waiting till after this weekend to sign up. (no offtrack adventures or bike problems) and then that just leaves getting a gene.
  16. I got a Sargent for my 1kRR and it works pretty well. Its much better then the oem and does provide decent grip. After the first year, it did settle some and wasn't as supportive as originally....but still better then stock. I did a lot of research on this also back in the day and are happy with my purchase.
  17. I've had two scorpion helmets, both exo 700s. First one worked great and crashed well. Second one is still in use but has issues. As stated, the shield doesn't want to stay secure when turning your head and will nearly fly off when it goes up. Wind noise is ok, but about what i would expect along with weight. Decent helmet for those prices, but more helmets should be going on sale with spring and new lids coming out. I tried on a few this past week and are still eyeballing the Shoei X-12.
  18. Yeah...WERA and about all others go fast. I just bought mine from wera last year. Resale is still good if you want to sell it later on.
  19. "We ride rain or shine, no refunds unless an event is cancelled by Moto Series." I didn't take the discount as I'd rather get a peek at the weather forecast before going and pay the $125.
  20. Selling a few things from my 07 600rr and wanted to offer it to OR before others. PC3 will come in oem box with all parts and came off my race bike (used for 1 year). Currently has a full custom tune map from DTM Brian. (Leo Vince FS, BMC Race Filter) *Note use of this map could be harmful to another bike as it was made specifically for my bike. Qualifier came off a rim that I bought for spare, is used but very good condition (80-90%) with no wearing/flat spots Power Commander 3 USB - SOLD Dunlop Qualifier 180/55/17 - SOLD Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
  21. I got my bazzaz w/QS (GP) for $518 shipped. Contact me for info if you need if brians idea isn't better.
