Yeah it was bad around lunch time for me... Now back to the 30-40 seconds load times for page transition.

Actually in true competition (AMA Pro Star comes to mind) they have 600cc classes. I have seen Gadson when he was running Facotry Kawasaki make passes on a 600 at the Columbus event. So they do compete the 600cc in drag racing especially at AMA Drag Racing events. So if someone was actually making a run at a class like that then stretching it within the rules would be beneficial. That is all I was getting at as everyone was saying that stretching a 600 for drag racing does not help.. It does. If unstretched say you run a 1.7 60 ft and 11.0 or 10.8-9 ET. You stretch it and drop your 60 ft to 1.4-1.5 you are now running 10.2-4 Edit: Looks like AMA did drop the 600cc classes. last year I see anything on it on dragbike.com is 2003.... Shame was nice to watch Gadson take a 1999-2000 ZX-6R down the 1/4 in 10.25 same as a CBR 1100xx time in stock trim (magzine reported time)

Actually stretching a 600 for drag racing would still be beneficial for launch, 60 ft and all the way through first gear...

Well Rt 22 in KY is nicknamed the baby dragon... I heard they repaved some of it. There are some groups down there that will turn it into their own personal track. It has claimed me but not for me pushing to have fun. We had went through and stopped to wait for a newb and my dad (two up with mom) on the BMW. after 5 minutes went by i turned around. and as the thought of mom and dad in a ditch creeped in I started going faster without thinking it. then probably the one corner that gets the most bikes was there and off I went into the nice padded grassy hill.

Yeah the flyer didn't specify anything beside the normal tape up for Novice. I don't understand why those are still allowed. One of the trackDaz guys did a test in the pits out at Willow Springs with Engine Ice It took like 30-minutes or so to dry and was slick. then when they poured water back on it, it was slick as regular freeze. He said the only difference is the Poly stuff isn't toxic.. I am acutally glad WERA doesn't allow it.
-
Engine Ice, Liquid Performance type anti freezes are allowed though.
-
Needs a timer so you can race yourself.
-
Yeah not as good as the real thing... but not bad.

Got confirmation from Monte. The flyer is correct so Advanced and Intermediate are required to have Oil Drain Plug and Filler Wired or Silconed. Filter is optional.
-
So what are the rules??? Lizard A & I need Drain, Filler, and Filter need wired. Flyer they sent out A & I need Drain and filler cap Wired, Their site says just Advanced Needs Drain, Filler, Filter. From STT.com Bike Preparation 1) All bikes MUST pass technical inspection prior to admittance to the track. If your bike DOES NOT pass tech inspection, you will NOT receive a refund. 2) Tires and brakes must be in good condition. Tires should be at least 75% of new condition. Any tires that are bluing from excessive wear will be disallowed. Slicks are allowed in 85% plus condition. We will have on site tire service at each track day, so if your tires don't pass, you will have the opportunity to put on replacement tires to pass tech. 3) All glass, headlight, turn signals, and plastic lenses must be taped over or removed. Side mirrors must be removed for the advanced group and at least taped over for all other groups. 4) We recommend, but do not require removal of center stands. No bikes with center stands will be allowed in the Advanced/Racer Group due to the ground clearance issue. 5) All machines must have an operational handlebar mounted kill switch/button and self-closing throttle in good working condition. 6) Advanced and Intermediate group riders MUST use water or water wetter or a non-ethyl glycol based anti-freeze/coolant. Approved Poly Glycol brands are: Evans, 7th Gear, Liquid Performance, and Engine Ice. NO AUTOMOTIVE ETHYL GLYCOL BASED COOLANTS ARE ALLOWED. 7) All valve stems must have caps. 8) Wheel balance weights must be well-secured. 9) License plates must have bolts taped or be removed. 10) Added for 2008 season: Advanced riders are required to safety wire drain plugs, oil filter and oil caps.

The Flyer they sent out does not say the Oil filter needs to be wired... So which is it? It just states Oil Filler cap and Drain plug.
-
Uh Huh. Sure... You just don't want me picking on you...

sweet, I will be hooking you up on both bikes.. -
STT Beginner group is one of the best Novice groups out (NESBA has similar setup) where the morning sessions are structured into follow the leader to help new riders introduce themselves to the track and best practices on the track and bike operations. THen the afternoon sessions are more open, but patrolled. My Dad did STT day the first time and was told there was going to be no passing and may hit 90 mph on the front straight. When the group came on the front straight they opened the gas and did faster over what he thought they were going to do. Then two other groups (beginner divides into 5 groups generally) went by on both sides on teh front straight. After that he almost pulled in the pits and never went back out again... But by the end of the day he was more comrotable.

My dad saw it last night in the Cycle Trader book that is sold at Gas stations and such.

Welcome... 919 always was a good looking naked bike.. I liked it better then the new bandits...
-
FYI there is a 03 CBR 600rr in te Cycle Trader with light scratches for $3500 -$3900
-
Well at least you guys don't require Removal of kickstand for All groups like Ed Bargy's school. Dang that was over kill...
-
Well they got me tripled anyway.
-
I would never go -2 on the front as, Lizard correct me if I am wrong, but narrowing the radius that much can put extra strain on the drive system (chain and rear sprockets)...
-
Actually Flounder -1 +2 is pretty standard on race bikes... My 600 was -1 +2 at the end of last year and was much better. The thing going up the extra teeth can do is allow you to run that higher gear which smooths out mid corner. The ideal situation is to run the highest gear you can without sacrificing drive out on any bike. Going into corners with the RPM in the high range is not idea as generally the throttle response is a bit trickier and generally requires the rider to make a shift early in corner exit.
