Chicane, you enter ok clipping the right side curb, but you stay leaned over and run out wide to setup the left portion into the Key hole. Most of the faster guys (drew included) I have followed use this similar line. From track left lean hard right toward that right side curb. Before you hit it you are standing the bike up to clip the left side curb at the entrance. Then your speed will let you run out 2-5 feet off the curb slowing down all the time. Then you pull it in to the curb on the left side before the keyhole and clip that. Then you flip right for the keyhole. Off the back straight right hander, you are holding that right tight to take a wide line into the Left over the hill. The fast guys run that right with alot more speed and let the bike run out closer to the track left edge (allows for a lot more speed through there which allows you stay WOT on the back straight and brake later for that turn) then you run striaght into the Left over the hill slowing down all the way up and then crack the gas just before you crest. Coming out of Thunder Valley you hold the right kink tight and turn in as late as possible. Clip the inside curb and with your speed up will run out to that yellow curb on Track right. then you will run straight to the carosel and enter it on the brakes and slow down till mid way around the carosel. Then you will crack the gas open again and pull it in to apex the carosel and for the run onto the front straight. I saw that you were also nowhere near the Apex in 1. You knee should be on that yellow apron and apex it a little bit before it ends (lizard help me on that one). Turn in is just as you go under the bridge, go hard to that apron then power out.

Example the guy I started learning twisties from had ridden for 20+ years and was dang fast on the street. His first trackday at Putnam he was done after the 2nd session after lunch (5th session) as the mental stamina is usually the first thing that goes. on the street you get 2-5 minutes of adrenaline, on the track it is full 20 minutes and this wears most new riders out faster then physical effort.

Hey Lizard the few times I have had to pull my QS I had a lot of trouble getting positive shifts with clutchless. Now I just unhooked from the PC and left the unit on the Shift Rod. I was never that good at when running redline, but I sometimes would try 2-3 times then just say screw it and use the clutch. I thought maybe with the sensor my timing was off and needed more force to get it.

Your clutchless wasn't as bad as it sounded from your quote, and that is the first I have seen someone just slipping the clutch at WOT to make a shift. Seem to work though that may be hard on the clutch, though not sure that would be a lizard question. I see some places you can really pick up time with line changes and some changes that once you get to A you will make yourself once you start seeing them from faster riders. You have what some of us call the trackday lines through places like Chicane, T6 off the back straight, the 13 (left out of thunder valley), and into the carosel. I made the changes once I got in with some fast guys and saw how they were passing me, you'll get there. You looked really smooth on your steering inputs, no jerky corners, or any line corrections. Your pass over wheelie hill on the Duc and blue bike was great. I end up doing the opposite running inside them into that corner. One line correction I need to make is apex over the hill sooner into thunder valley. I tend to hold it longer for some unknown reason hopefully Drew or Lizard will show through there a couple times so I can pick a better reference.

Bad part once you hit the 17-18 range it all comes down to making yourself go in faster, turn in faster, get on the gas sooner, etc.. There are no quick jumps by finding a line here or there, it all comes down to the small things in each corner. I am trying to work on my Turn ins this year getting from Vertical to the knee faster. But this also means I either brake sooner or harder to get done a bit sooner so I can throw it over. I think the Switch backst at Nashville may have helped me a bit. But this something I am going to have to conciously make myself do.

I was just going by you saying that going from full open to full close to make a clutchless upshift was hard for you being 6'5" (just what I got from that quote) and why I chimed up.
-
Just trying to help...little things help. If you make 10 up shifts in a lap and say Guy A takes .2 of a second to make that shift and Guy B take say .5 longer on the same bike same corners, etc.. Guy A at .3 x 10 is 3 seconds a lap faster plus the extra speed he will build on the straights with faster shifts.

I should have set that corner in my head from going the other way on it, but the suggested speed for that corner is BS since you can't actually see that the corner starts just as you crest the hill.

From what I heard is that Ducs are still hand assembled or were a couple years ago. Though I have heard that ducs require extensive maintenance for up keep, but know they are very fast. A racer in WERA has a 999 that pumps out 160 RWHP in his race bike on Race Fuel. But it is also part of the name branding, but also some of the base parts on the bike are a bit better then the Japanse OEM stuff.

If you have to go to full close you are not timing it right. All you need is maybe 1/4 inch of turn or less depending on how good you are at it. Quick shifters are the shizzle.

Saturday took 4th in Solo 20 lap race 1:07.55 best lap but most in 1:08-09 range Sunday took 5th in 1000 Superstock 1:05.88 best lap and all in low 1:06 with one 1:07 through lappers 4th in Formula 1 in the wet (was running down 3rd in lap 3-4 but after that my visor was to fogged up to try. by lap 7-8 I was only able to see edge of the track and the corners that had red/white curbs 9th 1000cc Superbike, stopped raining about 3 races before me and sun came out. I decided to put on DOT tires but it was wet enough for rains still. everyone else on rains and the only guy I beat was the other one on DOTs though my fastest lap was faster then the guy on the Ducati 999 with rains in 8th

Glad you guys had some good weather. Waiting on Flounder's take on the new setup. hey Lizard Eddie K. had a wreck in Sunday Warm up and hurt his shoulder FYI. He did take the MW solo victory. 600cc Expert was a stacked field this weekend.

I hope to hit some 1:00 but I know sub 1:00 will be a big jump from my 1:03 on my 03 600 last year. I think 1:00 should get me maybe a top 10 expert A races. Hope...

Yeah that was one place I was struggling last year that 2nd kink. I would roll off a hair at turn in, then backin. Everytime I tried to leave it WTFO I would not get it upright and braking in time and ended up going way to deep into the last corner. Gonna be fun on the 1k though.

I know KY gives you the actual Title document even when you use a loan (did this on my KX250F).

I'd run Mid OH in the RAIN..... I thought the repaved beaver and fixed the bumps out of the first kink. Dang that is going to make that kink fun on the 1k... I have ran NESBA I with no issues. If you can get upside someone before turn in I think that is considered making the pass on the straight. they just don't want passes up the inside past turn in. But if you can't get even by then, then best to wait. Only thing I didn't like was a coach had to wave you by... So if they take lap and a half to see you and they are behind a rider running 5-10 seconds slower then you, you are stuck with your finger up your butt.. The time I did I had even showed the coach a wheel and 4 -5 turns later still hadn't signaled (though I didn't know and passed him on the outside of Big bear at Putnam) and went around after at least a full lap behind him.

My favorite cruiser isn't made any more. If I was getting a cruiser I would have to buy used and get the Valkyrie. I loved that bike the smooth 6 cylinder motor, and probably great gas mileage. My hands react more to V-Twins than 4 cylinders and I loved the looks of the Valkyrie as it also didn't have the fell of the front end was 1/4 mile in front of me. I liked the steeper rake feel of that bike. My dad's Tour Deluxe (V4) is ok, but the timing on it has it rumble kind of like a V-twin.
