  1. The always infamous Gixxie750. You're "the other Brandon." I don't want to publish distributor prices, but I was impressed that race tires were only $35 more than the street version. I'll leave it at that.
  2. Because the R10 is expensive and Brandon's price on the 003 pros has me planning to run them this year. Think Dunlop 209, but cheaper. I think it moved.
  3. I am of the opinion that 3 weekend of racing is better than 1 weekend with an inverter. I just bring a sheet of plywood to deflect the sound.
  4. Yeah, I was basically trying to get away with a better brand instead of a bigger genny. I just don't want to spend a bunch on something I only use 8 times a year. I have some emails out to Craigslist sellers on bigger units.
  5. From the review: "The title on the product is misleading. Actually, the generator has starting watts of 1500, maximum of 1200 watts and continuous of 1080 watts. Don't believe the product heading because the manufacturer's box doesn't state that." ..and they are some brand I've not heard of, but "by Woodcraft." As if the company branded them as their own, before Woodcraft was selling them retail.
  6. It's a champion "1500" watt model, but that's 1500 peak, and more like 1050watt continuous. http://www.amazon.com/Champion-Equipment-42431-Generator-Compliant/dp/B004XRL4NI/ref=sr_1_2?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1334094552&sr=1-2 I was looking at "2000" watt generators for marginally more money, but people who have purchased them seem to have tested them with meters, and most are merely advertised as 2000watt, and actually only put out 1500 peak watts anyway. All I know about tire warmers tells me it will be cutting things close... I generally assume 900-1100 watts for a set of warmers.
  7. I've got a Bell Vortex that you can have for $25. Near mint condition. Only worn on two separate days. new visor!
  8. MotoGP is a mess this year. It's going to be a circus, but far from the best racing. Honestly, I only watch to see how Spies and Hayden do. Moto2 is amazing. I would say the only thing I like close to as much is AMA superbike and sportbike, and some of that appeal comes from the fact that I have ridden a few of the same tracks, and met several of the riders. I know this is a MotoGP thread, but in general, the AMA racing has really gotten good over the last couple years. Superbike is no longer the Mladin show (although Hayes and Young do seem to be a step above the rest of the field), Sportbike has large grids and tight racing, and SuperSport is like a preview of what's to come in Sportbike. Even the XR1200 races have been pretty amazing.
  9. a friend of mine has a 3 year old that proves those don't always work either. In her case, the baby's father and the two children she's had since are the best things she's got going in life, but that's not the point for the OP...
  10. (and i feel awful for anyone who takes 3 months to get rid of 20 loads. Shit, if that's what I was told, as soon as the stitches dissolved, I'd be making sure everything still works, and be through 20 loads in a few days...)
  11. you want to get a vasectomy, or you're done having kids, but your current (and potentially future) sexual partners won't get their tubes tied? just seems like an odd way to phrase things. How hard much does it cost to get the procedure, and how much to reverse it if you change your mind? Any other risks involved?
  12. I've been bumped at a motoseries track day before. Nothing intentional from anyone, and we all stayed up, but it was one of those moments where you're just riding along and then, "FUCK!?" which quickly subsided into, "it was pretty cool that 3 of us just came together, and no one went down!"
  13. P.S. - I have tribe tickets on the 3rd base line tonight. I brought a winter hat and some gloves, but I still think i'm gonna be freezing.
  14. I am stuck in a computer lab at the moment but will be grabbing lunch shortly. I was told it was snowing a few minutes ago. (@ Cleveland State. Corner of Euclid & E. 18th)

question regarding the model you're looking at - can you also drive-tase someone after you've fired the probes? Like if you shoot and miss, and the attacker tackles you?

i like it. just always be aware that you're likely going to have the "victim" alive telling his side of the story, but that death is still a possibility.
  17. I'm not estates guru, but I know the basics (because i have to for the February bar...) It would behoove everyone to have some frank discussions with parents and grandparents about what (if anything) they intend to leave you. Strictly speaking, you only "inherit" when one of your relatives dies intestate (without a will). Anything you receive from a will is not an inheritance, and you have no right to any of your parents' property - they can donate it all to charity, and all you can do is challenge the will in probate court. So especially if you're not close with your parents, have siblings who are closer with your parents, or know your parents think "chris has his shit together, he doesn't need our money," and have some charity they like - talk to them. It's a hard thing to bring up. I just assume my parents will leave me $0, but also 0 liabilities or debts when they pass away.
  18. A friend of mine has his '07 MC on the shelf, and has an aftermarket MC that he likes a lot better. for my part, the stock '03 has been "acceptable" given its age. I also experience the 1/2-1" of play before anything actually happens, but it improved after bleeding my lines. I think fresh fluid also helped. But it sounds like you've tried all that and not gotten much help. The aftermarket MC's are definitely better, but I was really trying to keep my bike SuperStock legal Hopefully i only have this bike a couple more years anyway. We'll see. With a 2009 model, upgrading the MC will be a much more long-term upgrade.
  19. i don't blame someone for calling the cops if they see something they view as suspicious, or potentially dangerous. Better than starting a riot. But there's nothing inherently illegal about carrying an empty holster either. The cops SHOULD show up and check things out. So long as they're not uber-douches thereafter, I don't see the issue. I would wager that wearing an empty holster is constitutionally protected free speech. It is certainly not a crime. Even when speech is antagonistic in nature, so long as it isn't a clear and unambiguous call to violence, it's going to be protected. The police are allowed to regulate where that speech takes place though. i.e., they can make holster wearers stay across the street from people attending the vigil.
  20. I think the point is that the switch allows you to anticipate, where the thermostat doesn't. If I'm cruising along w/ the temp sitting at 190, and then I know with 100% certainty that traffic is at a crawl, and I am going to have to slow down, I can proactively flip the fan switch as soon as I slow down, rather than waiting for the temp to hit 220. If people are THAT concerned about running hot, you can use the computer duster compressed air, turn it upside-down, and spray your radiator. with a little creative engineering, you could probably rig up a way to do that without getting off the bike. Run some kind of tube to get the cold air to the back of the radiator, maybe?
  21. I'd like to think that's where I'm at too. The bitching does make me laugh though. Mainly at myself. "ohioriders.net: a place where people talk about guns and epeni." "afj.com: a place where people talk about ORDN."
  22. Helmet liners can be removed and washed. I rinse mine after every weekend at the track. Sometimes even in the sink AT the track on Saturday night. Removing sweat really extends the life of the foam too.
