  1. frame/fork damage?? yikes man, your last off was more serious than I was led to believe. Can you cannibalize any parts from your 1000 to speed up the process? it would make sense for Honda to use the same part for simple stuff like throttle cables. I doubt they did, but it would make sense...
  2. no glass or explosive targets.
  3. i'm thinking a trip to Good Will is in order for sure. I need a new garage/pit radio anyway. i'll probably just but 6 of them for $5, and keep whichever works the best, then put holes in the rest.
  4. ^ bumping this up for the actual purpose of the original question, as well as because I'll be shooting a lot of shotguns next weekend. My uncle invited me to some kind of group shoot at A&A. Apparently a bunch of them reserve part of the place a few times a year. Anyway, I'm looking for more "target" ideas, and I'll come back with a full range report a week from Monday. I know for sure at least 3 guys are bringing AR-15's, and just from knowing a couple of the people coming, there should be some other cool shit best target idea i've come up with is shooting at some of my retired helmets. Curious to see how much damage a .22lr will do at 100 yards. May stick a cantelope inside it for additional mess.
  5. too much open track gets boring. Still hoping to register for 7/16. Emailing my professor presently...
  6. the "about us" page is actually pretty informative. My aunt and uncle live in Swanton. Might have bought their quad from you guys, actually... Is that a customer bike at the track, or an employee? I was blown away when I walked in one of my local dealerships to pick up some stuff, and all the guys behind the parts counter were big into drag racing, but had never done a track day.
  7. tell him to list it on the WERA classifieds. www.weraclassifieds.com i think it's only $1 to list "parts," so worth the price in this case.
  8. I think a lot of people are confused about the fact that "Buell Motorcycles" is a totally separate company from "Erik Buell Racing." Pretend for a minute that his last name isn't in both business names, and that they both just happen to produce motorcycles. As others have mentioned, Harley Davidson "owns" any designs made by Buell Motorcycles. They may allow EBR to continue making add-on performance parts for those bikes though. Erik himself (independent from either company) also likely holds the patents for much of the technology used in Buell Motorcycles, as well as EBR motorcycles. with that S3, I don't think engine parts will be a problem, but good luck finding (cheap) spares and such. Even replacement brake rotors and pads would be a bit of a concern...
  9. I saw a guy on an R6 w/ an "Arai frame slider" this morning as well. I assumed he was stopping at the gas station and would put it on after he filled up, but before he got on the highway. That ALMOST made sense to me. I went home at lunch to check on our new foster dog. Same guy was at the same intersection riding with his helmet on the rear lock... No way he needed gas again this soon.
  10. lots of little throw-away comments in there. I'm going to have to watch it again. Does he do a similar video for lubing cables, replacing clutch-baskets, etc? It was pretty informative considering how funny it was.
  11. I saw something similar with a guy on an '03 era GSXR 600 last summer. I'd exited the highway behind him, and he stopped to check his texts at the bottom of the ramp. I laid on the horn after waiting for a few seconds. The a-hole motioned for me to go around. Uh, no buddy. You're stopped in the middle of the road. I'm in a car. It doesn't fit through a 4' wide gap, and I'm not off-roading a dodge neon. I just held the horn until he moved. No helmet either, so he was hearing every word I yelled at him about being a moron who thinks his head is harder than concrete...
  12. i really try not to harley bash, but I was was waiting for the ferry out of Put-In-Bay and struck up a conversation with 12 HD riders (zero helmets). Anyway, THEY laid into Japanese bikes, and a (relatively) friendly discussion ensued. A disdain for liquid cooling was one of my primary talking points. I even conceded that the Japanese cruiser market seems to follow suit (Yamaha Raider is the bike I specifically mentioned, because I've ridden it), but these riders didn't care about performance at all - they just wanted a Harley so they coudl say they own a Harley. I even pointed out that they were all wearing harley gear, so people would know what kind of bike they're on. I asked one woman what kind of car she drove. "a Camry." Okay, do you wear a Toyota t-shirt every time you drive it? <eyeroll>
  13. so sorry. It's hard enough when an old dog passes away, but at least then you have some idea it's coming. To lose one so early is awful.
  14. hopefully you guys got the same weather I had at Put-In-Bay. Clear, but not blistering hot. I spent more on strippers and booze than my trackday would have cost, and came home with a lot less dignity. See you jokers on July 16, I hope.
  15. you're telling me that you honestly believe there's a jury that would buy that BS? that's assuming there's a competent attorney who would even represent the "victim." I have at least a LITTLE faith in the justice system.
  16. Ohio wouldn't be a party in the lawsuit, and the state doesn't get to decide what law governs. The courts would have to fight that out. we'll see what happens. It's not going to come to lawsuits unless the attorney on the WERA board bought a suit and wants to be a dick about it.
  17. This is actually an interesting piece of law, because the jurisdiction will be VERY debatable. Just for the sake of example, let's say that shop is based in MD (i have no idea where they are). If MD law says that the shop can cancel the order due to their error, and OH law says they can't, which governs? Where did the transaction "take place?" it's on the internet. You paid in OH, but they processed in MD. Anyone print the terms they agreed to when placing their order?
  18. He should flee to a safe location and then call the police himself. If Joe Crackhead attacks me, I don't want his crackhead buddies ambushing me while I wait for the cops to show up.
  19. at 6' and 180 lbs, I am a 42 or a 44, depending on the brand. It's like a jacket size. The number (loosely) refers to your chest measurement in inches. shit, in this case, if you even think you're close, buy it and sell it for double what you paid. These are $1500 suits for $300... selling it new for $600 should be no problem at all. BE AWARE, THESE MAY BE EUROPEAN SIZES, SO SUBTRACT 10 FROM THEM.
  20. http://store.ducatiusa.com/product/365120/98152400/_/Ducati_Corse_2009_1_Piece_Leather_Race_Suit_-_Save_15%25 This IS a mistake on their site. it says 15% off, and it appears they are actually CHARGING 15% of the original price. They probably won't honor the order, but for anyone larger than 48 (smallest size they ahve left), it's definitely worth a try! Guys on the WERA board were ordering up to 4 of them per person just to sell them...
  21. that's not exactly true. There are multiple ways to 'lose' something. "Lost" property is something you unintentionally part with. The finder has rights to that property unless the owner comes to claim it. There may be laws specifying a waiting period, or requiring that you post notice (somewhere - newspaper, CL, OhioRiders.net) for a given period of time before it becomes yours. "Mislaid" property is something you intentionally put in a given place, but then forget about. That belongs to the owner of the land (or vehicle in this case) where it was placed unless the true owner comes to claim it. The idea is that if I set down my iPod on Bill's fence while I'm out jogging, Bill owns that property until or unless I come looking for it. If Jane walks by and finds it, Bill is still the legal owner, because I know where to find Bill; but I don't know shit about Jane. "treasure trove" (seriously) is something you consciously hide, and then either forget about, or die before you can retrieve it. Courts are conflicted as to whether or not the finder has rights to it, or the owner of the land on which the property was found. It really depends on the circumstances. "abandoned" property is property that was intentionally placed, but in a manner that it's clear there was no intention of retrieving it. Like tossing an iPod in the trash. It's anyone's to take. This is a pretty simple case of the iPod being "lost." Unless his friend comes asking for it, it's his. that's the LEGAL explanation. the MORAL thing to do is to return it. Then again, the moral thing for your friend to do would have been to repay his debt.
  22. 8 years young! There is something sickeningly satisfying about passing newer bikes at the track. I did a demo ride on an R6 in 2008 or 2009, and I remember getting off and saying, "This thing is amazing. I can't wait to buy one when I can afford it; in 2015."
  23. not sure how cordial this breakup is, but I'd keep my hands off her stuff unless you have absolutely no trust left in her. If you think she'll be civil about it, arrange for a time when YOU will be gone, so she can pack her shit without having you around to deal with. Obviously that's the exact opposite of what you want to do if you think she's going to break shit, or take the dog... that happened to a guy I know. he came back from work, and all her stuff was gone, including their "good dog." She left the one that destroys things. She also took the TV that they bought "together," but was on her credit card. Her name was never on the lease, so he's stuck paying double rent too. She was clearly the guy in htat relationship
  24. pretty cool. It's basically marching band with motorcycles. OSU folks should appreciate that.
