  1. Then you're going to crash on the street anyway. May as well have decent run-off area and an ambulance standing by.
  2. Why do people assume there is some magical quality about the track that makes you crash!? If you can control a bike on the street, you can control one on a racetrack. No one is going to force you to go any faster than you would on the street, and all the same basic rules apply. Gas to speed up, brake to slow down. When in doubt, slow down. Pretty simple.
  3. Thought the lessons were always free; you just have to buy the trackday.
  4. BEST. COMMENT. EVER: "I love how the liberal rag GET keeps referring our Defense Star as the "Death Star". Take that propaganda back to Courescant, Nerfherder!!!"
  5. I'm as new at this as you are, but Ricky Gadsen says to rev the bike to max torque, not max hp. I don't know what that is on our bikes, but I have good luck with ~9,000 RPM. Additionally, a great start is less important to me than not destroying my clutch prematurely, so that's something to keep in mind too. I wouldn't be opposed to trying out the drag strip a few times this summer though if you want to meet up there and go head-to-head. Same bike and relatively same (road racing) setup mean we shoudl be comparable.
  6. low 1:20's at Putnam are an "Advanced" pace with STT? (I should preemptively clarify that low 1:20's are very respectable laps times. Not ripping on Jess in the least; I just think of 1:17's as the unofficial cutoff for Advanced)
  7. I saw the same video posted on Tosh.O with the title "shake weight story goes exactly like you would expect..."
  8. there's really fast guys at virtually every round, there will just be more of them at Mid-Ohio... If I had an SV, I'd be all over it.
  9. i've done 2 bachelor parties at Put-in-Bay. The ONLY things to do there are get sun burnt, get drunk, and... I forgot what the third thing was; I kept busy with the first two. Ask for "Elle" when you order your stripper. She will NOT disappoint. I swear we threw $700 at that broad, and we got a bargain. Many pictures were taken, and all had to be destroyed.
  10. i wish i had adequate time to come up with a witty 'inquiry' for this guy today.
  11. I would like to see the work go to a site member, and it appears as though there have already been a lot of good suggestions. Mine would be the guy who took over for Dean at DCdecals.net; VinylsaurusRex.com (Greg) if no one from the site wants the work.
  12. I don't have a bike with passenger footpegs, but just for the sake of others' clarity, are you looking for a particular style of bike? There are a fair number of cruiser riders on the site, but the majority stay out of our childish banter. you can put a model on the back of my honda, but she's going to have to have a small enough ass to fit behind me on a superbike tail section. I can confirm it's possible though. I've given my wife a ride up to the bathrooms in the pits at BeaveRun.
  13. T-Rex stands are a good value choice. Pit-Bull make the best stuff out there, but the price reflects that...
  14. won't they look significantly less attractive with full face helmets and proper riding gear?
  15. Because in our hands it's only marginally more capable but triple the cost to replace. Welcome.
  16. Now that I am likely egged for the trackday, I might be up for shooting Saturday afternoon. I get out of class at 1 or 1:30.
  17. FUCK FUCK FUCK. Allegedly my mediation class starts on Saturday and not on Monday as I was lead to believe... I have to verify, but I will have to drop that class to make it on Saturday.
  18. Check CL for Katana's. They're air-cooled, and definitely not sportbikes welcome.
  19. "Eastbound & Down" is a kick-ass song. On a 'convoy' to Florida, we had regular old walkie talkies in the various cars. There was a lot of "come on back now Snowman" and "Dyna, this is panther - what is your position?" (from Dead Man on Campus...) I don't think it's possible for me to talk on any type of radio without clowning around.
  20. put me down for 2 in white, if possible. I've been meaning to send in my SASE and just get them the 'official' route...
  21. Quite a few of us are going to be within WALKING distance of A&A when we're out at Nelson Ledges for the 5/14 trackday. I have a conflict Sunday afternoon and won't be racing on Sunday, but if anyone wants to shoot at A&A earlier in the day, I've never been there, and would love to get some rounds through my .22 I'm not sure what gate fees are for Nelson Ledges, but camping is free with a paid entry to the track. A&A is right around the corner. I drove past it on my way home last weekend. Always heard it, but never knew exactly where it was until then. interest?
  22. damn... I wish I had $1200 to blow on a second bike. I could sell off the plastics and have a running street bike plus trackday backup for under $1,000.
  23. ya, i've gotta check into that... I can afford medical bills, but probably not time off work if I have a major issue.
  24. Only the vintage guys are racing at Mid-Ohio this year. Well, them and the AMA... if you've got money to burn and can turn a lap that's 107% of the pole position time, you can go get lapped by the pros.
  25. He never said anything about the guy wrecking until I asked. I suspected that he had wrecked, based on the original post, but he didn't come right out and say, "how are you recovering from your wreck?"
