  1. You mean people like Malcom X? He's the only "black leader" that I can recall being assassinated (other than MLK). Of course, the Nation of Islam is a separatist movement that believes only black people can solve the world's problems (much the same way that white supremacists believe only whites should be in power). W.E.B. DuBois (founder of the Niagara movement - a forerunner to the NAACP) wasn't assassinated - he just renounced his citizenship, became a communist and moved to Ghana. Maybe you're talking about Ella Baker, one of the SCLC's and NAACP's most influential female members? Nope, not assassinated either (although later in life she did abandon many of the SCLC principles in favor of a more "socialist" agenda). Marcus Garvey? Wrong again. One of the most influential black leaders of the 1920's he founded the Universal Negro Improvement Association. Ultimately he was convicted of mail fraud and died in obscurity in Jamaica. Honestly maybe you could enlighten us on those black leaders that have been shot at?
  2. Good thing it wasn't a Fox News Reporter. The shit would have really hit the fan then.
  3. Did you do that one yourself? You're really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel if you didn't Qualifications are relative to the particular position open, genius. Obviously my employees are "free thinkers" - I don't tell them how to do their jobs, remember? Try to keep up. Oh, you have more than one degree? Good for you. Theory and book learning will only get you so far (a degree). What you do with it after that is up to you. I'm better at you in life for a multitude of reasons, one of which is the fact that I own a business. Don't worry though, the world needs ditch diggers too. Ego? You betcha. You don't get anywhere without at least a small measure of ego. Ok, Mr. Multiple Degrees - explain to me how HR "issues" affect revenue (sales) I have plenty of experience beyond sales, and I know that everything affects the bottom line. However, the "bottom line" isn't revenue. It can be called net revenue (or profit - I know that's a dirty word for folks like you). For your information, I have worked in larger multinational corporations and I've coordinated efforts across multiple departments, and had P&L responsibility all along the way. Keep in mind that its a dangerous thing to make assumptions about someone you know nothing about. If you think that's all I've figured out in my 20 years in the game, you're way behind, son. Tell me, what have you accomplished in your young life (beyond your "multiple degrees) and I'll give your statements some credence. Own or operate a business in your adult life? Have you had P&L responsibility for a $25,000,000.00 per year company? Get back to me when you have - I'll be interested to know how it works out for you. Nah....this is the part about "degreed professionals" and how I've hired and fired several. The part about me being smarter than you is back several paragraphs. Glad you're entertained. I'm sure you'll be real entertained when the guy that owns your company has to lay you off because he's having a hard time being profitable paying for all the programs you endorse. Hey, maybe you could unionize the engineers where you work? Need the number for the SEIU?
  4. Wow..a circular argument...whats the matter, no funny cartoon to post? What I'm implying is obvious. Being a "degreed professional" doesnt automatically make you "qualified" for anything. If by my "powertrip" you mean owning my own company, yeah, I enjoy it. If I didn't, I wouldn't do it. Most companies are only as good as their weakest link? You really have no clue about how a company or life in general really works, do you? If your hypothesis were true there would be a lot of cars going down the road with only three wheels on them. Obviously most good companies are able to rise above the level of their weakest link. We don't have any issues in upper management in my company, because there isn't any upper management. What does revenue have to do with HR issues? Very little, actually. While profitability could be affected by employee issues revenue (sales) typically doesn't suffer due to employee turn over unless you're turning over sales people faster than you're turning over sales. Wrong hypothesis. You're assuming that I have a high rate of turn over when actually nothing could be further from the truth. You forget that I've been doing what I do for over 20 years, and by and large I've been successful. Wrong assumption. Why have I been successful? Simple. I focus on results. I don't really care about how or why something gets done, only that it does. People that work for me know that, and seem to appreciate it. They are empowered to make most of their own decisions and stand by the end result. I'm not sure what you mean by "yes men", but if the question is "is it done?" the answer better be yes. If by "yes men" you mean only hiring people who will stroke my ego and tell me what I want to hear, nothing could be further from the truth. Wrong assumption again. Obviously, if your employer is happy with your performance its because he feels he's getting a good value for the money he's spending. Apparently you like job so its a win-win situation. I've hired Junior and Senior Year ME and EE interns (from Akron U) several times and by and large its worked out very well. Do they have a lot to learn? Some more than others, but I got a good value for the money spent. Again though, you missed my point. My point was that just because someone has a degree and six years of real world experience doesn't make them supremely qualified to do anything, and there are honestly a lot of people out there that have way more experience than you that aren't worth shit as employees. Awww....panties in a bunch because I put your "stuff" in quotes? No funny cartoon, or anything from Kos or HuffPo to link to? Back to a circular argument again. Weak.
  5. On the subject of who's smarter, until you prove otherwise, yes my mind is closed. You're right, I have NO idea what you've done in your six years of employment as a "degreed professional". I do know that I've hired and fired plenty of guys with your level of "experience" and more. While its a good start, six years in the real world doesn't mean squat. Oddly enough, I've had 14.5 years of experience raising my kids. So far I've got two (mostly) well behaved, polite kids that get good grades and are involved in school sports, and other worthwhile outside activities. I'd say so far, I'm pretty successful in that department. On raising kids? Yup...I'm going to stay the course.
  6. This was supposed to be the part where you told me WHY you felt you were smarter than me, not about raising a kid. So, because you have a degree as an EE you're smarter than me? Get back to me when you've got 10 or 15 years of real-world engineering experience. And we know that the other news outlets NEVER get anything wrong, right? Sure people have been doing it for ages - I mean, your parents took a crack at it, right? If you really think getting a PhD is more difficult than raising kids, I honestly hope that you never, ever have any. We really dont need any more drains on society. No, I listen to reasonable arguments all the time. I just havent heard one from you yet.
  7. Personally, I really don't care what you think of my "approach". I'm not here for you anyway. First, flying the flag upside down is not "desecration". If you question my "political statement" that's your problem. Personally, I dont see it as a political issue. I believe that the current "administration" as well as the Legislative Branch represent a very real and credible threat to life and property as we know it. Once the constitution doesnt meant anything to those sworn to uphold it, we're all in trouble, bubba. Honestly, if you've got three siblings serving this country (and I appreciate their service) you might want to know that. Otherwise, you make yourself look like an ass. I know that I'm flying the flag in front of my thoughts. If someone forms an opinion of me before reading what I have typed (like YOU have) that's on them - I have no problem with it.
  8. So, if you frame it in the form of a question, its not calling someone a name. Lets try this - "are you really as big of an asshole in real life as you appear to be here?" Saying it that way is ok, right? Yes, I believe I'm smarter than you. I said that already - more than once. Since you know nothing of my life experience how can you assume I'm not prepared to discuss thermodynamics or electromagnetic field theory? I mean you said a little further down the line that you're qualified to be an electrical engineer, a plumber, and a veterinarian so why would be a stretch that I could intelligently discuss any subject? So, lemme see if I got this straight...I can filter out the slant on the huffpost and kos, and its still news? I'm gonna have to ask why you can't do the same with Fox? I can't argue an edited statement by a congressman? Why not? Seems to me they same plenty of things that I can argue. If you really believe that raising a child is as simple as understanding how a battery works, or how to unclog a drain, you're totally and completely delusional. I now understand why you think the way you do on other issues. Yes, eventually they will have to deal with the harsh reality of life, but thankfully they'll be well prepared to intelligently refute the lies that folks like you continue to propagate. I'll sleep well knowing I've done my job. Honestly, I dont believe you ever will.
  9. So, your opinion is that your avatar is funny should be transferred to me? Sorry, guess again. Nothing funny about my about my avatar and my disapproval of current administration is not a "secondary motive" for using it. Frankly, its the primary motive. The secondary motive is getting people like you to comment about it. Question though...if I'm not permitted to make my opinion known, why are YOU entitled to make your opinion of my avatar known? Talk about juvenile....
  10. Todd#43

    I just.......

So, you want him to jerk you off with a slap-chop? Didn't know you played on that team.
  11. Is that you in your avatar? Better re-think that, genius.
  12. Check again, Seems to me someone called someone else a "tightass". We've already covered your weak point, the cartoon, remember? No, I didn't say that. What I said was I knew more than YOU. There's a difference. All I said was you do post "facts" from the Huffpo and kos. I didn't say it was specifically in this thread, and you've admitted the fact anyway. Based on that, I do take your "facts" with a grain of salt (and a high dose of penicillin - dont wanna get what you've got). Yes, its my job as a parent to filter as much of what my kids hear or say as I can, and offer my judgment and/or input on it as necessary. Does everything go through me first? Of course it doesn't, and it would be foolish to expect that it would. Naturally, since you don't have kids, I wouldn't expect you to understand that. You mean like you bringing up your opinion of my parenting skills? I have no worries, so I figure I am pretty "light" already. You seem to be the one with the issue.
  13. Ahhh....this is the old "post office" thread, I went to the newest post because it showed up in my CP. Oddly enough, you resort to name calling because you made (another) weak point. Yup, I mention that you posted another cartoon, and you get your panties in a bunch. So easy to push your buttons. Supporting material? You mean the stuff from the huffpost and kos? Hardly call that "supporting" material, but if you think it is, go for it. I'm fairly certain that I do know more than you based solely on life-experience. You really must be a chick - based on the fact that you have to bring something up from 47 threads ago. Yes, I opposed the "speech" to school kids based on the material that was released BEFORE the speech was to be given. Of course, after all the flap about the speech they released the speech prior to it being given. Had they done that from the get-go, and left out the "pre-speech required reading" I wouldnt have had a problem with it. As it was, my son's school had already made the decision not to air the speech. What does that have to do with ANYTHING? I don't know that I expect anyone to be a "hardass" (internet or otherwise), and I'm fairly certain that you dont fall into either category.
  14. Do some research, I've mentioned this before. Its been said a number of times before, and I think it bears repeating. When you run out of intelligent arguments to support your point you post a cartoon. So, because I call you out I'm a hater? Please. Actually, I have a GREAT life. I have a wife, kids, and step kids that love and respect me, I have a nice place to live, and I have my own company that's doing well despite the current economic situation. What's not to like?
  15. Whenever JRMII runs out of "facts" he posts a cartoon. Its kind of like his own version of Godwin's Law.
  16. Nahhh...pink is definitely their color
  17. I dunno...I think pink looks good on the left.
  18. Yeah...what are they? What if I dont like orange and green? Can I get a different color? And Boooo for the anonymous rep.
  19. I have had U-Verse for over 18 months now. I dont have the telephone component - just the TV and internet. Oddly enough, I switched from Time-Warner. In the time I have had it, I have had NO issues with the service. None. No internet or cable outages (something that happened continuously with TWC). I have recommended it to everyone I know. If you have it in your area, get it.
  20. Jesus Christ. I've been using FireFox to avoid the issues with IE, and I still get fucked by Microsoft. Thanks Bill Gates. Fucker.
  21. and Al "not so" Sharpton was there to "protest" http://www.ktar.com/?nid=6&sid=1220812
  22. They could have picked anything to compare defense spending to. They chose the progressive, left, liberal give-aways. THAT tells me they have an agenda. Face it, everyone has one, but its seldom what it seems to be at first blush - you have to go a little deeper. Ummm...you forgot this interesting tid-bit in that article: "However, presidential travel requires additional spending, especially for security personnel and equipment. Also, first lady Michelle Obama and some administration officials traveled to Copenhagen at public expense ahead of the president." Now, add all of that (whatever THAT number is) and you've got the TOTAL cost of the trip (not just the operating costs of Airforce One.
  23. Hey, if you hadn't tagged your recent post to something that was a year and a half old, I probably wouldn't have responded to it. You did, and here we are. Sure, they dont "support" any agenda whatever. Why don't we compare it to, oh...I don't know....how much pork Murtha sends back to his cronies? Or maybe how much the time Kucinich missed in Congress while he was "running" for President cost the US Taxpayers, or maybe how many of my dollars get sucked up in Medicaid or Medicare Fraud? You're right, its "perspective", and obviously they compare the costs of the war in Afghanistan to their "pet projects" Lets see, if we add up ALL the costs, how much was REALLY spent for BHO to go to Copenhagen to pitch Chicago's Olympic Bid? $5,000,000.00, $10,000,000.00?
  24. You mean like they're doing now with the rest of the Constitution and Bill of Rights?
  25. Doesnt appear to be partisan? Are you fucking kidding me? Hmmmm.....lets compare a component of the defense budget, or "tax cuts for the richest 10%" to: Free Health Care for a year Homes with "renewable electric" (what is that - rechargeable batteries??) for a year) Music and Art teacher salaries for a year Head start for one child for a year pick a bleeding heart, liberal cause of your own How can you possibly look at that and call it 'non-partisan'??? Seriously, it was more fun when you posted stupid cartoons, or links to the Huffington Post or KOS every day.
