alas the source of my problem. my gremlin. if you can't tell, the rounded part is not supposed to be rounded like that. its like this on all three.

    DSCN1261.jpg

the dog holes where the above dogs mesh with. you can see where it slips in and out, even the holes are rounded a bit

  2. for kawi's yes you have to solder because you guys have ~7 different LED's on a circuit board.

for only yamaha's (maybe zukes) you don't need to solder at all --we have 2-3 led bulbs. i just figured out what led's it took, (#74 type slim wedge base bulb) and its a simple twist lock and install

    easy.

  3. i think the hysteria would be worse than y2k personally. even if it doesn't happen you know not only the movies, but the newscasts will be cashing in on this come around that time just to get review's.

it will bring it to the attention of people who didn't already know about it, people going crazy at grocery stores buying water/canned goods. others going on rampages of murder, rape, theft, etc thinking if the world is going to end they can do whatever they want and not have to face the consequences.

thats what i think. even if the world doesn't actually end on 12/21/12, the mere thought that it might will bring something similar to the "end"

  4. time for a little update:

my workbench that 1fasttc (john) so graciously donated! much much appreciated! (the helmet is not mine, but my roomates...)

    DSCN1230.jpg

box of covers, staying as organized as i possibly can with ziploc baggies with detailed labeling (this is more full now, i just haven't taken a picture yet)

    DSCN1231.jpg

    stator

    DSCN1232.jpg

    timing and clutch exposed.

    DSCN1233.jpg

see what i have to work with? gross.

    DSCN1234.jpg

exhaust ports (if anything looks suspicious let me know)

    DSCN1235.jpg

    clutch boss removed.

    DSCN1237.jpg

input shaft -- trying to figure out how to get that bearing out (two holed thing around the shaft)

    DSCN1239.jpg

oil pan off -- oil strainer a little dirty but other than that everything looks fairly clean

    DSCN1244.jpg

another update: sent the supsension off with EarAche (Eric--again much thanks to him!) to reuben at 35 motorsports after finally nailing down what i wanted to do within my budget. Installing new .9 springs with an OEM revalve, as well as a refresh and recharge in the back (no spring needed). Ill get it back as soon as Eric decides when he wants to come see us again in Cbus...

    questions:

any ideas how to clean all that crap off? i have a brass wired brush but i dont think that will hold up for the whole thing. I tried a dremel with different attachements but that only gave me a "brushed polished" look, so i stopped that idea.

how do i get off the bearing on the input shaft

and the exhaust ports, look ok?

  5. Just make sure you get cut sliders.

if it falls and hits that puck imagine a free body diagram.

cut slider: force goes directly through the puck to the frame

no cuts: force goes directly through the puck, but its offset from the frame resulting in twisting or at most a complete break of the frame, depending on how knarly your crash was.

i've heard good reports from vortex and woodcraft. although i have heard of the vortex puck melting over the access bolt making it harder to get in and replace. i have had my vortex on for 3 years and they are still as white as the day i bought them.

  6. i forgot to add a few things that may be of use:

i winterized the bike according to suzukis manual and filled it with 2 gal of oil (bike has not been turned on tho). i have sinced drained the oil and refilled it with the proper amount.

i did the sprocket change with the bike in gear and the rear tire off. sprocket nut was torqued down in gear

bike has been sitting for 2 months

lower sprocket case bolt is missing (all others torqued down to spec)

surely you dont mean two whole gallons do you!?

do the basics first like jrmii said, check the adjustment down by the clutch cover first. if that doesn't work its probably plates that are stuck, you might need new springs.
