Yeah I've delt with Paypal and their fees. If I find a deal good enough for me to bite, covering Paypal fees shouldn't be a big deal. If I can find the -exact- bike I want, I'll be willing to pay a bit extra anyway (but don't tell the seller than ) Where should I go to read up on these; do most banks offer them? It's a very attractive option, but I'm willing to bet that I'd have a hard time obtaining one because I'm a 21 year old college student

Brilliant, I never even considered paypal for a transaction like this. Now that I think about it, it might be a bit tough convincing a seller to take that route but I figure if I'm up front about it and provide enough identification and means of contact, they should realize I'm legit and not out to scam anyone. *pokes head in and looks around* Been a while since I've really spent any time on OR...I'm not dead, just havn't been doing anything bike related for a while. I hate real life Anyway... I'm hoping to get a new bike next year, but I have zero experience dealing in private transactions with used vehicles; the only vehicle I've ever bought was my 650 which I got new at a dealership. Is it possible to use a credit card in a private transaction? Say if I were to buy a used bike from a private seller, is there any way at all to use my credit card to cover some of the cost, short of using the cash advance 'feature' that my CC company offers? (i say "feature" because in my opinion, anything that has a 24.99% APR is a last resort, not a feature) I was pondering the possibility of using my CC to buy a cashiers check or something, but I'm fairly inexperienced with this realm of personal finance. I'm really hoping there is some way to make this happen, otherwise I'll probably have to stick to stealerships...and finding the exact model, year, and color of bike I want at a dealership would be like finding a needle in a haystack :\ Any input/ideas are welcome...I'm lookin to get ejakated on this subject because it's something I've put off learning for way too long Thanks!

I feel your pain man; I had 2 nails this season, and countless glass bits from the broken-bottle-strewn campus streets (though the glass didnt produce flats...just some gashes). It's such a frustrating thing when it happens. I wanted to start carrying around a donut this season

Hm, it'd be -extremely- interesting to see where a Japanese company would take Buell. Buell was about one of the most 'unique' bike makers out there, and uniqueness is something seldom seen in the Japanese sportbike market. It would be a fun endeavor to watch at the very least. *edit* Also, my concern with warranties being honored isn't so much a "will they, won't they" type thing, but it's more along the lines of real-world application. From my understanding, good Buell service was already hard to come by because it was all done in Harley dealerships, and I can't imagine this situation will make the service and warranty adventure any easier. Oh well. I'm not giving up hope just yet. If I can find a used '09 or '10 1125r for a really good deal (>=6 grand) next season or some other time in the future, I may still buy it and try do all the work myself...

Exactly. I've never disliked the 1125r's looks really, but as soon as I saw those fairings I thought to myself "THIS is how the bike should have looked from the factory".

Well this news has certainly thrown me for a loop. An 1125r has been my dream bike since the moment they came out...I've been looking at ways to get rid of my 650 and to get on an 09 black/black 1125r for months and months now, only to hop online one day and see this news. It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens with these bikes next season. I, personally, am hoping for bargain-basement used prices but then there's the whole issue of warranty/maintenance/OEM parts. They just released some OEM fairings for the 1125r that makes it look like a completely new bike...who knows if these will be floating around in the future or if the small batch they've already made will be the only ones available. I wish they had just put the brand up for sale instead of killing it altogether

I've got mine chained to a 50-75' tall/2-foot thick tree using a zinc-alloy logging chain that I run through the swing arm (with a canvas sheath to prevent the chain from scratching the swing arm) and a massive solid steel padlock to lock everything together. If they wanna take it, they're either getting a bike without a swing arm or they're going to make a hell of a lot of noise with a pretty serious saw trying to get the whole thing. But at this point, they'd be doing me a favor X-( I could use that insurance check...

Looks kinda cool, but I'd have to do some more research into it. I've always had an interest in lucid dreaming though...it's just that the other methods I've seen are dubious at best and a huge pain in the ass at worst.

Can any of you Cinci folks help me out? I'm looking for a head shop in Indiana that is as close to Cinci as possible. Thanks to our all-knowing Ohio legislature, Salvia extract is now illegal in our great nanny state, but I think it's still legal in Indiana. I'll be on a road trip that takes me near the southeastern ohio/indiana boarder (right through cinci actually) so I'd love to swing through Indiana and pick some up. Searching online has turned up nil though, so was wondering if any of you guys could point me in the right direction. And just in case anyone was wondering, by head shop I mean a 'tobacco' supply store...not the type that deals in high-end cigars and pipe tobacco exclusively, but rather one that sells water pipes for tobacco smoking and that sort of stuff.

I have a Rider v1 and it's a love/hate relationship. The functionality of the device is second to none, and as you stated there are free apps out there that make route planning extremely easy. However, the v1 was plagued with hardware issues, and my device is very finnicky about turning on at times, and it will NOT charge while on the bike. I believe the v2 ironed out the hardware/build quality issues while not changing the core functionality of the device much. If the v2 is what it is supposed to be - basically a v1 with revised bike cradle/charger design and better hardware - I would say go for it without a doubt. I havn't used one personally though, so I can't say whether or not they have fixed the big issues.

Find out intersections where riders have recently been killed, and put up signs near them that say like "A motorcyclist was hit by a car and killed at this intersection this past [insert month of death]. Help ensure it never happens again, please watch out for motorcycles." Kinda morbid, but it gets the point across. I'm a little under the influence, so correct the grammar as needed
