1990 Four Winns Horizon 200. Probably my worst purchase ever. Previous owner (OSHP Trooper) said "I ran fine last year". He did n't mention that he forgot to winterize it. Block cracked - replaced Floatation foam saturated - replaced & floor rebuilt I easily have twice as much into it as it is worth. -

Because something sounds fishy? Or to see if he wants to trade? I am just thinking that if I can trade a $500 gun for a $700 bike, we may just both come out ahead. I may have something tucked away in a paddle holster too, just to make myself a little more comfortable. Any negative "vibes" and I just walk away from it.
-
Hmm, as a matter of fact, I do! If it is still available friday, I will at least go look at it. I suppose I could always see if he is interested in a trade for something (usually a gun). That way it is just trading a toy for another toy.

How do you guys convince the wife (if you have one) that getting a second bike doesn't make me a greedy selfish bike buying addict? I want this. I can afford this. I'm sure I can fix this. She will make my life a living hell if I come home with this even if I am sure I can resell and make money on it in the future.

Here are a couple: http://www.swapgiant.com/-89/posts/50_Sporting_Goods/235_Firearms_Ammo_Accessories/11293_marlin_model_60_and_a_ruger_10_22.html http://www.swapgiant.com/-89/posts/50_Sporting_Goods/235_Firearms_Ammo_Accessories/11224_Ruger_10_22_like_new_extra_mags.html

Just another thought. Could all of this have been started back in the days of DRUM brakes (front & rear)? Compared to current disc brakes, it might have actually been faster to dump the bike than to depend on the crappy brakes. For you young'uns, bikes didn't always have multi-piston caliper disc brakes. Drum brakes frequently sucked & when they got wet, they REALLY sucked.

I was mainly trying to "play the game" the right way and sell them with titles. It just ticks me off when they go an require something that is nearly impossible to actually get done. You are basically forced to break the law by selling without a title. Note: A bill of sale is a completely worthless peice of paper according to the BMV.
-
Like a lot of people, I have a couple of older dirtbikes in the barn (1976 and 1985). Of course, neither of them have titles. There is now a law requiring you to have a title to legally sell it. This is from the Ohio BMV website: TITLING OF APV's AND OFF-HIGHWAY MOTORCYCLES All dealer sales of APV's and off-highway motorcycles are required to be titled in the purchasers name. Any Ohio resident that purchases a APV or off-highway motorcycle and intends to apply for registration to use the vehicle on Federal, State or County parklands must already have an Ohio title prior to applying for registration. As of October 1, 2005, House Bill 66 states in part "Anyone wishing to sell an APV must have a Certificate of Title and assign it to a new owner." Contact your local Clerk of Courts title office for further information. I sent a nice detailed letter to the Ohio BMV with details and VIN numbers and they sent back a letter for each bike indicating that I needed to get a court order to issue a title. This was expected. Here in Morrow county we have 2 judges and neither of them will do it. The clerk of courts said that "it takes too much time and they won't do that". Isn't that your freakin' job? Knox county says I need to get a lawyer and petition the court to issue a title. Even if I figure out how to do that myself, there is a $100 filing fee. WTF? They bikes are only worth about $600 total. This sucks. Has anybody here successfully jumped through these hoops and got a title?

Used to, buy my job (& many others) got shipped off to Manila.

I was just there last night for the kids soccer practice. There is a significant dip in the road right before the turn in to the soccer fields. "If" you stop, look and turn, you wouldn't have any trouble seeing anyone coming. But, if you are in a rush and cut across the left lane to pull in , I can see how this kind of accident could happen. Certainly not an excuse for the driver, just more info on the accident.

We had a group at work (old job) called the "Morrow County Mafia" since so many of us made that trip to Columbus every day. Welcome!

With no title, how does one go about getting a registration sticker so you can ride at Perry county or Wayne? I am fairly sure that bike that old didn't even come with titles. I am interested if we can figure that out. Has anyone gone through that process?

Iron Pony ended up having some in stock. I bought a set of 170s, but I am going to go up to 180s and try again. 160 to 170 made some improvement, but it still ain't right.

I looked up DJ jets and mine doesn't look like their picture. Mine has this description: 99101-357. 16.5mm long x 6mm hex. Sizes from 090 to 250. For FCR, CRS, PWK, PJ, PWM, PE. I will swing by Iron Pony on the way home, but I'm not real hopeful. In my perfect world, I can "rent" it and return it if I need to go to a different size after testing.
-
Does anyone have suggestions where to get main jets for Keihin FCR carbs here in Cols? I have 160 and I want to bump up to 180 and see if that fixes my issues. I can just drill them out, but I want to have a spare set since I know that at least it runs on the current ones. The advice I was given was to drill them out 1 size at a time until it runs too rich, then buy the next size smaller. I would rather buy local if at all possible.
-
This is just a vent since I'm pissed at myself. I was tinkering with the carbs and had the back of the tank propped up on a chunk of 2x4. The bike was sitting on the kickstand (not the center stand) and I didn't realize was slowly sinking into the ground. My full fuel tank falls off and now I have 2 nice dents directly in the top of it. The 19 year old tank was flawless until now. It would have been SO easy to just be a LITTLE bit more careful. I'm an idiot. DAMN, DAMN, DOUBLE DAMN! ok, I'm done now, carry on.
-
I pulled the petcock & cleaned off the screen, replaced all of the fuel lines and filter and was getting about 3psi between the fuel pump and the carb inlet. Pressure never dropped below 2. If you snap the throttle more than half way open suddenly, it bogs out & dies unless you let off. So, assuming that it is starving for fuel, why and what can I do about it? It has Keihin racing carbs on it & I am only ever used to working on Mikiunis. I will have to do some reading on how to check the float levels.

1990 ZX10 First ride was this evening. Starts & runs pretty well, but when I get it around 3/4 throttle, it just bogs out and starts coasting. Let back off of the throttle and once you go below the 3/4 mark, it immediately kicks in and takes off again. It isn't gradual like a fuel starvation thing, but an instant sputter-sputter, blah..... once you pass the magic mark. I has updated 41mm carbs with NO air filters , just blue velocity stacks. It also is supposed to have a timing advancer. Thoughts, suggestions? (Useful ones only please!)
