  1. Quite possibly. I'm finally preparing to get the old Hon-duh back on the road here soon. Gonna buy some tires for it once I sell this Sena and then I'll be back in business lmao
  2. Which app Sena app have you downloaded from App Store. There are quite a few. Some called Sena utility and some others
  3. So, my Sena 3S is legal when used with foam earplugs?
  4. Dug into the Nav and Bluetooth last night and tonight. Got the Sena paired to the bike and my phone paired to the bike. Phone is fully functional from the bike, music control and calls. Contact book is on the screen on the bike. Will be calling @NinjaDoc from the road Thursday. Nav on the bike is great, it accepts my system for making routes on the computer and transferring them over. Nav has something to say it lowers the music. It's all damn near perfect.
  5. Hahaha I was gathering research material to convince myself to get sena instead of scala, BT communication was never a doubt. I still remember around 2009 thinking whtr it was worth it to get this So called BT dual pack, honestly it was the best motorcycle related purchase for me since the 2up riding is what I enjoy the most and this made it perfect. I was thinking if I didn’t buy it 10 yrs ago I would have missed some of the best motorcycle related riding and talks. So just trying to push max to Take the leap of faith.
  6. FFS, two weeks ago you blew my phone up asking me all these questions about Sena. And now you are a damn expert?
  7. ability to attend call is a big plus, They don’t even realize you are in a bike. Max, if your really serious about wanting one. Get the sena 10 dual pack and be done with it. Or one step better 20s. Don’t wait for ever because you only get to use it for few thousand miles a year. Bike related stuff the more you procrastinate the lesser you use. Life is short, “biking life” is even shorter. I promise you once you ride two up with this you will feel like this was the best investment ever. ( depends on your marriage off course If your wife is your best friend ... just go to eBay and search for lowest twin pack price and buy it meow) The used prices I been watching never much came down and were so close to new ones. Didn’t make sense to get used.
  8. You are correct if you want limited communication. The Sena and other manufacturers include the versatility of listening to music, skipping songs, taking phone calls, increasing and decreasing volume all with your gloves on a helmet device.
  9. I have had Sena 10 and 20's for (10) years and used the simple basic pairing mode. We are going on a (5) day ride with (14) riders with ten of using Sena's. Been in Florida the last few days and we dialed in the Sena 20 communication systems. What we have found is the simple bluetooth system works easily with two or three people. Using the Sena app with the group intercom works with up to (10) people, with the limitation of a few hundred feet distance like the basic bluetooth. Using the Sena Ride Connected app and cell phones you can have a very large group of riders and the distance is worldwide. After a couple of days of adjusting the settings we were riding at 80 miles an hour with crystal clear communication and we were 50 miles apart. We finally educated ourselves with some of the features of the Sena communication systems.
  10. I recently bought a 20s evo and I have to say that once I got the speakers mounted up exactly where I wanted them I love it. I have had a conversation at 70 mph and the person on the other end had no idea that I was even on a ride. I do still have to get used to work the controls. Also, it is hard to find the phone button with thick winter gloves on but, manageable with practice I'm sure. Has anyone used the Sena remote that hooks to your grips? I have thought about it but, would hate to waste my money not too mention giving up space on the grips.
  11. The Sena has a VOX setting. But I never use it.
  12. Yes, Nivin, I have tons of experience with big group intercomms. Answer is Yes... and once you break the chain, it can be a pain to reconnect the chain without restarting the whole process. Using the SENA app helps with group chat as long as the leader knows what he is doing. If you break the chain, the leader can stop the whole conversation and restart the group convo through the APP and it usually works okay (provided everyone is back within range) ---- This is why the 30K is much better. It utilizes a new mesh technology (star topology) where everyone is connected to everyone and if you get disconnected, everyone else remains connected and once the user who got out of range comes back within range, he can autoconnect back into the conversation. Only downside is that everyone has to have the 30K for this technology to work. A lot of other communication systems already utilize the mesh technology. ....and my big complaint is trying to connect a SENA 30K to SENA 20S through the old school bluetooth technology because the 20S app won't pick up any 30K's.... There may have been a firmware update over the winter to fix this, I haven't checked...
  13. I have been in several rain storms and no problem, but got stuck in a serious rainstorm once and it fried my sena and 2 of my friends as well... SENA did cover under warranty.
  14. 75k miles in Sena headsets, countless downpours, never had a waterproof issue. Smh10, 10u, and now my srl. I've tested it up to 150+mph and still connected to another rider, running much slower. Range is usually about line of sight. Whatever they claim, just disregard it. They're not gonna reach 2 miles unless your daisychaining several together across a group. I had issues with my sena 10u, and started considering scala, but you'll find reviews with people having the same issues as any other brand.
  15. There seems to be an obvious marketing move with these intercoms to purposely make them only intercom connectable with the same brand. Although that seems to be changing as there’s a Sena that has universal connectivity. They do make two way (cb band) headsets with better range but it’s push to talk and the cb radio needs to be in your pocket or somewhere. Not sure why there’s no app for your iPhone to have intercom capabilities without the annoying push to talk.
  16. He said it works good up to about 60mph, and it won’t link to sena. What about Sena? Is it still clear above 60mph?
  17. what i noticed about sena is the wide variability in user experience. The user exp ranged from people stuff dying after one ride in rain to others chugging along with no issues. Lot of people having some other issues and others having to go through hell and back to get adequate response from sena mothership. And still many whose sena has worked perfect with no hiccups. I kind of trust the user exp of folks here in OR who have been nothing but +ive regarding sena user exp and ended up ordering one myself. Will wait and see how lucky i am . I am thinking may be a batch issue or assembly location site issue dont know.
  18. Ive never kept my Sena out of the rain. Ive ridden through a lot of rain too. Never had a proablems of any of the Sena units ive had not being water proof in tens of thousands of miles.
  19. @max power get it, if you been looking forward to riding two up, i am guessing you love the trips with wifey. Communication system makes such trip so much better. To the point i will never ever go back to non BT two up riding mode. So point number one> get it > its worth it get it second is the choice> Scala is a better unit no doubt just by being water proof itself. But as of now the safe bet for OR environment is getting Sena as literally every one has sena. Sena can talk to scala but confusing and questionable as multi member group. And one of these days when all of a sudden every one stops pretending to be ultra manly and wants to have some sort of communication for safety sake it will be worthy it. Again once you start using the comm system in group rides you will never go without it. No body keep chattering in there and talking as if at a bar counter. Only required stuff like warning, potholes, crap on road, clear to overtake etc itself is worth it. Safety profile taken a notch higher than doing stupid hand and leg signal dancing while riding. Third> which among sena > i think this will be a one time investment for quite a long time to come. Better bet right in the middle in Sena 20s / or 20s evo almost same. Better speakers and hardware, will do everything commonly needed. Still will have the first time struggle of getting connected with others and maintaining connection while in group ride. This is universal for most system till now. the game changer is the mesh network coming up > scala had it dialed down(plus water proof) and better at it with their new model > but unfortunately in this area u have no other scala guys to "mesh with " so no point getting that. The 30 k from sena is very questionable at best at this point. The online reviews and user experience has been so far lukewarm with ton more of complaints than the usual you expect from unhappy users. The prices are chopped down already for 30K> i am thinking they might come out with updated model within next few months. But go ahead and get a sena 20s evo > in ebay you can find new dual pack for 350ish > thats about 175 per unit which is a pretty good deal all things considered.
  20. Might do an OR search for "sena". There's a bunch of threads on com units. https://ohioriders.net/index.php?/search/&q=sena I have the SMH-10 kit for a BELL helmet. Plugs into the side.
  21. I think the SENA 20S is the go to at this time. I have the 30K *upgrade from the 20S* but I've heard some people having issues with it, although I have not. 30K went with an additional second comm technology that isn't daisy chain technology but an additional mesh/star topology (but only works with other 30K users). Connecting you and your wife together is rather simple, but can get more difficult as you add more and more people.
  22. Hard to beat the SMH10 for simplicity, 20s if you're looking for more features and better speakers. Sena is the most common brand with scala after that.
  23. Just get a Sena, that is what everyone has.
  24. If basic and simple is what you want the Sena smh10 is hard to beat the duel pack. if your looking for more range, better speaker quality and or more options it's all uphill from there. Setting up comms between brands is possible but can be tricky to set up.
