grapesmuggler27
There's a shit ton out there to see and do. Santa Barbara is a must, hearst castle is pretty cool as well. 6 flags if your into that kinda thing. If your bored head down to TJ and watch the donky show
ninjachic
I second yosemite. It was really cool when we went. Just bring lots and lots and lots of bug spray. and careful the cabins (at least back in 2002) were seriouslly bug infested. but outside of that it's really pretty. If you go up to northern Cali, there's a place called Crater Lake that is pretty cool. It used to be a volcano that exploded and became a crater with a lake in the middle of it. I've been there a few times and it's really cool as well.
bowdog
Thanks Ninjachic, I am being told that it is a must that I go see San Francisco, and also to play a round at Pebble Beach. Anyone been to SanFran?

bowdog
Sweet! thanks man, that is the kind of stuff I am looking for. I can drink and eat anywhere(no offence to some that have pm'd about bars and restaurants), I want to do some stuff that I can only do there for the fact that I may never go to California again. 4DAIVI PAI2K5
http://www.redwoods.info/We went to Sequoia NP our first day then to Yosemite after that. Marposia Grove is right by Yosemite. I would suggest Sequoia (Drive to over Marposia Grove. Words and pictures do not do those trees justice. Coming out of the Yosemite tunnel is breath taking, the change it amazing. For a short hike at Yosemite I really suggest Taft point (30 min hike) and Glacier Point (drive to) if you got two days I would suggest the hike to Half Dome. its about 14hrs but you're on top of the world! Final leg of Half Dome View of Half Dome from Glacier Point Edge of Half Dome Rock on Taft point Taft point El Cap from Half dome Not even the big trees at Sequoia Just before that water goes over the second set of falls on the trail up to Half Dome MJ has been to San Fran Edited July 17, 2013 by 4DAIVI PAI2K5
bowdog
Wow! thanks Adam, those pictures are amazing, I can only imagine what they look like in person.
4DAIVI PAI2K5
Pictures and words can't do them justice. We were awe stuck. Sequoia is a little closer to the Fresno airport then Yosemite. If you only have a day I highly suggest Taft point hike and other areas you can drive to in Yosemite. Sequoia only has a small park which doesn't take long to see. Beware of all the crazy foreign drivers in rented RV's lol.

Revelstoker
Thanks Ninjachic, I am being told that it is a must that I go see San Francisco, and also to play a round at Pebble Beach. Anyone been to SanFran? Yes, several times. SF makes a nice base as you can make day runs up to Sonomo/Napa, Redwoods, Coast, Monterey/Santa Cruz and Yosemite. City itself is nice place to visit. GGate park, GG bridge, Fishermans Warf w/ Alcatraz (note, book this one early as it fills up). I usually stay on Montgomery in the heart of Little Italy but I have also stayed at the Fairmont on Knob Hill. Coit tower, trollies are all fun to do in the city. Food is awesome and so is the scenery. If you have the time, take a side trip to Tahoe or venture up towards Shasta. It is one amazing state! If your time is limited, I would strongly suggest skipping LA/SD and concentrating your stay around SF. OsuMj
I have been to SF a few times. If you're looking for sights to see in SF:1. Coit Tower - great view of the city2. Peir 39 - lots of sea lions and a pretty nice aquarium3. Lumbard Street - just a 5 minute drive down a very curvy road in the middle of the city4. Cliff House Restaurant - delicious and its right on the beach and overlooks a cliff.5. Buena Vista Cafe - only suggest this place if you want to get an amazing and somewhat expensive irish coffee.6. Alcatraz - book in advance, they sell out quick. This was a little less adventursome than I cared for, but it has interesting history and i'm glad i saw it7. Golden Gate Bridge - you can take a water tour that's less than an hour and REALLY see it.8. Redwoods - really about an hour drive north of SF, Muir Woods is nice9. Hiking - north of SF and near the redwoods areas, there are a few mountains that you can hike on. You can also just drive to the top and it gives a really nice view of SF(peir 39) (pic from coit tower looking at lumbard street)If you're going to be in Santa Cruz, its a nice drive up highway 1 - really beautiful and there's some really nice hiking/views along there if you're into that. Monterey/Carmel is nice too, but its kind of a relaxing vacation spot rather than something you would be disappointed to never have the chance to see. I TOTALLY agree with going to Yosemite. I've been there in April after a blizzard rolled through and we hiked as far as we were allowed to in about 2-4ft of snow. Saw half dome but it was closed for the weather. It is amazing! If you like hiking, there's some great views around Lake Tahoe. I wanna say this was Angel lake or something like that off of highway 50? One of my trips I drove to death valley, and if that interests you at all, I'll tell you all the awesome places you can visit. Its actually one of my favorite places. (racetrack playa - rocks that "move on their own")
Pokey
Such an incredibly beautiful state, such a shame they are so messed up in other ways.
tall_tracy
I second MJ's list. Went to SF a few years ago and saw most of what she listed. It was a fun trip. We didn't use our rental car, spent most of the time traveling by trolley (our hotel was only a block away from them).
bowdog
Wow MJ those are amazing pictures! Thanks!
OsuMj
np, if you do decide to hit up death valley, let me know and I'll give you a list of all the things that I learned from my visit I think its a shame so few people visit there - it is absolutely amazing.SF is a safer choice if you're traveling alone though.
