redbarron77
It is sad to hear of the passing of comedians whose work has provided entertainment.

bloodninja420
I always liked Joan. Me too. One of the few female "celebs" with a brain and some wit.

C-bus
She was edgey before it was cool to be female and edgey. Like a woman-Richard Pryor. I saw her live a few times. Very funny. And there's Spaceballs.
MidgetTodd
I always thought her to be a snooty bitch, but that's just me. I've no feeling on the matter
Gixxus Christ!
Never had any use for her. I'm taking a shit as I tap this. It's more interesting to me than she is.
Connie14
She was a ground breaking female comedian, and she had some great interviews on the Howard Stern Show.

redkow97
Her death has made me realize that Joan Rivers was funnier than I thought. I'm not going to cry about it or miss her or any of that shit, but holy hell am I sick of hearing the term "comedienne."

ScubaCinci
I am affected by celebrity deaths as much as they will be affected by mine.I agree that their deaths generally garner more attention than warranted given that we have a steady stream of dead soldiers returning from "war" that get little to no fanfare from the vast majority of the population. This is largely because the media chooses to focus on the attention whores and gloss over the rest.

This is largely because the media chooses to focus on the attention whores and gloss over the rest. I don't think that's a fair comparison at all. First of all, "the media" focuses on what consumers want (or will watch anyway), so we can turn anything we hate about the media right back around and blame ourselves. What is actually important is different than what the American consumer connects with. I know a ton more about Joan Rivers than I do about 99.99% of enlisted military personnel. I am saddened by the loss of any human life, and it's upsetting when military personnel die in conflicts I don't agree with - but that's part of the risk they accept when they enlist. That doesn't change how their families feel.
ScubaCinci
It's not a fair comparison because life isn't fair. It just illustrates the fact that most Americans' attention isn't focused where it should be. They are more worried about what the Kardashians are doing than what ISIS is doing.

ScubaCinci
Unfortunately, ISIS will probably be around a lot longer than anyone would like.
