Word has it that there'll be two larger sizes of iPhone, that the iWatch will be announced but not come out until 2015, and that the new iphone and maybe watch will have an NFC payment option. I think what apple does with NFC payments will determine if the event is seen as a "hit" or not. I'll admit I re-bought into apple stock not too long ago, but It's a LONG term investment, so what happens in the next week or two (or month or two) doesn't matter to me. Apple events normally show the stock price reflecting the hype and then dipping post-event. But face it, when apple brings out a watch, a real apple TV, or revolutionizes/mainstreams the mobile payments field, that's when they'll discover another multi-billion industry... and completely own it again, until other companies steal market share. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Apple really needs to step up its game to compete with Samsung and others, especially if it wants to get into the wearable market. In my opinion, wearables are going to have to be customizable to replace fashion and luxury watches, to justify anything costing more than a couple hundred bones. They tend to bring fringe technologies into the mainstream. "Smartphones" were NOT widely used until the original iPhone. Neither NFC nor Smartwatches have wide adoption these days, and "fitness bands" that DON'T talk to your phone ARE seeing some adoption... in the next 3 years, mobile payments, NFC, and smart watches WILL see some serious market penetration. And fitness bands that don't interface with your phone will go the way of the "feature phone" - extinct. Apple will make these things mainstream... Like it did with tablets. There isn't much of a practical difference between Andriod or iPhone in real world usage. My next phone will a Windows phone if/when my GS2 ever dies. Across 2 years, that's like $3/mo. Annyway, what are you torrenting ;-) No expandable memory - True, you choose your capacity when you buy the phone instead of spending roughly the same $ adding RAM later. I have a friend who's a rabid Android fanatic, but I wouldn't let that stop me from buying a good Google deviceLike I said, it doesn't matter to me, and both the Android and Apple ecosystems are very strong and stable, so the choices of 1 or even 1 million people isn't going to make a dent in either. I use isis mobile wallet (softcard) it works well enough and the rewards are great. I get a dollar back with every single transaction. Samsung gear is okay, Motorola seems to have stolen their thunder though. Android tablets work just fine, Xoom and galaxy tabs are great devices. Even the Kindle fire. PBCaK (or PBCaP in this case, and that's quite a feat for an Apple product!). To be fair, all the Apple devices I've owned have flaws. Same with the PCs, girlfriends and motorcycles (except my beloved Strom - she's purrrfect). Arguing about which ecosystem is better at this point is pure nerd folly. Apple stuff tends to be more expensive across the board, especially the laptops. I just bought a MacBook Pro for my daughter and paid double what a Dell would have cost, but I considered it worth it for its ease of maintenance, relative security boost, great battery life, excellent screen resolution and performance for the same processor class. Similarly I own a V4 iPad because it does everything I need it to do with a consistent interface to my phone and MacBook. That doesn't mean PCs and Androids are bad choices - they're not at all - for the money, they're excellent. But there is something about the Apple experience that's hard to put a finger on. Hands-down, if you already have an iPhone (which is requires), it's the best wearable you can buy at any price and has far better style, size factor and usability (if today's demos are accurate) to date. IMHO they really thought this one over from the ground-up. Apple engineers and partners truly considered the ergonomics of something as personal as a watch. Compare the new Apple watch's ergos with Samsung's and there's just no comparison. It's like comparing an Omega Seamaster to a circa 1985 Timex calculator watch.
