controler
2-3 months would be fine for the gas in the tank. I've gone 8-9 months after a motor replacement and didn't really have a problem. Just keep the cap on tight and turn the gas off on the tank.
KillJoy
+1 for Sta-Bil. Left a bike sit for 6 Months w/ a Full Tank (w/ Sta-Bil), drained carbs and on a Battery Tender. Bike started right up that Spring. KillJoy
Total Sign
You lose 4-7 points per month. Even with sta-bil. On a steel tank keep it full, aluminum or plastic it doesn't matter, either way, drain and fill with fresh gas come ride time.
Joe
Mine started up after sitting in a garage with half tank of Shell 87. Planning to run it out and then clean carbs when jetting. It has a slight hesitation for about 3 minutes probably due to a little buildup. All in all, I think it takes a LONG time for gas to go bad. I deal with vehicles that sit all winter with gas in them and have no problems whatsoever.
