Want a ride

Recommended Posts

So I'm starting to get relatively good at this whole racing thing; I'm not just saying that myself, a relatively reputable/experienced racing instructor seems to think I could compete. I don't have a car of my own, nor do I have finances to obtain one. What should I do?

1) Race karts

2) Autocross

3) Go work for Skip Barber Racing School or Jim Russell Racing School as a mechanic. I believe they let their staff at times practice in their cars.

If you don't have funding, you need an inexpensive racing form to develop your talent and get people's attention.

Or, find a rich widow.

Insuring my car for the track is a bitch, so I if my friend and I get transferred to Alabama for work I think we're going to buy and share a Formula Ford car while we're there; there are 3 tracks within 3 hours of that location.

I feel you on the budget thing though, I don't know what you can do for little or no money.
