Man, I totally forgot about that one. That intro probably would not fly today. It's a bunch of guys with wings with a spaceship that leaves a rainbow trail, bwahahahaha! Ronin Warriors (Yoroiden Samurai Troopers) first aired in Japan in 1988, but was dubbed and renamed Ronin Warriors in 1995. So you are both right.
