No. The last thing we need to do is make it even easier for middle to low income uneducated folks to flush their money.

I don't buy the BS that lotto and gambling funds go to education. Fuck that. The education system is about as good at handling money as those that created the current housing / economic situation we're facing. Why give those that can't manage what they have another dime.

I dont think its about managing some people just get delt shitty hands in life. But there are people who do not kno how to manage but because of them the others shouldnt have to be killed of a chance to get rich quick.

there is no getting rich quick. slice it how you want, the numbers that cash-in are far, far fewer than those that pay the price trying. the greater good never benefits from these types of scenarios.

ironically, the current economic situation is akey example in the business world. many gambled to get rich quick and several sure did....but we-the-people are left to pay the price.

Love gambling love horses love dogs, I gamble fairly often. But I know the difference between the money that goes to bills and money that I play with. I drive out of state or fly to vegas. I would rather see my money goto ohio. But I win so I would be taking the money instead of leaving it.

Exactly. They don't build the casinos to give money away. In the long run most people will never break even.

You guys who keep saying this will help our economy and keep people from driving out of state are the bread and butter of the problems in this country!

First off the casinos want your money , lots of it. Now the ad campains put on by the casinos say that its a burden for ohioans to have to drive out of state (aww boo hoo).

What difference does it make to the casinos either way the ballot swings they win. They still are going to get your money. The economy argument is null, more spending on gasoline , food, and overnight stays take place with the casinos out of state!!! For christs sakes it would be better to reopen a couple manufacturing plants for the economy , since unlike 98% of cr , we all can't sit on our fat asses in an office reading off topic forums (not that I am hating , but you see where this goes when everyone becomes a bitch).

Just one more thing to make you fucking idiots a slave to the grind.

CASINOS ARE NOT AN HONEST BUSINESS , THEY ARE RUN BY SNAKES!

Thanks Captain Obvious, but not everyone needs to be saved by you this day.

Believe it or not we're all well aware that casinos exist to generate revenue, like all other businesses that like to stay in operating status. They provide a "thrill", we pay money. Its tit for tat, why should anyone other than myself, decide how I spend my money. You can be reductive about near every product in existence and say its wasteful. Drinking beer is wasteful, spending money modding cars is wasteful, so on and so forth. How one chooses to spend their income should be their choice. Lots of people seem to have this ridiculous idea that if a casino opens in Ohio, all of the sudden everyones going to cash in their savings accounts and destroy their lives in the process like mindless cash-hemmorrhaging zombie slaves. That's just ludicrous, people suffering from such obsessive gambling desires, will only blow their money elsewhere, let them funnel it back into the state. Sure, casino owners probably aren't angels, but no one is. Grab your (insert whatever) bill, the CEO of that corporation is a greedy SOB too. As most of us would also be, given similar situations. They are simply providing a service.

Wow, I can't believe you guys want the Government to "save us from ourselves."

If you go to a casino to win money you are either:

A. A dumb fuck

B. A pro with an angle (Less than .01% of people)

Then there is the normal person who goes for entertainment. That's why I go. I could give two shits less if I win. If I do that's great, if not oh well it was EXTRA money I had to spend on entertainment.

If you say we shouldn't have them because people will be irresponsible then we need to also make sure Ohio doesn't have : Motorcycles, bars, guns, alcohol, fast cars, stores that sell ANYTHING other than the essentials. I could keep going but I think you get it by now.

Next time you want to be entertained give me your $100 and I will play Crazy 8's for an hour with you.

Yeh, cause that's the same thing

Next time you want to build a fast car and put your life in danger give me all the money you would spend on the build and you can come over and play Russian Roulette instead. That's about the same too right??????? That's what the news says about fast cars, so it's gotta be true.

Believe it or not I usually agree with the stuff you say. I always wondered why people gave you such a hard time. Now I see that you are pretty narrow minded.

Shit. Kill the bill. There's a loophole you could drive a riverboat through:

Casinos owned by companies with their headquarters outside of Ohio would pay their taxes IN THEIR HOME STATE, NOT HERE. None of the companies that want to build their casinos here are headquartered here, so no money would stay in the state.

Yes to casinos, no fucking way on this bill.

My neighbor put a 12 ga barrel in his mouth and pulled the trigger with his toes because he could not quit betting the ponies. Besides him leaving his 10 year old boy to find his body and mess, I don't see a down side either.

Wow, I really think you're on to something here. Maybe we can get the racehorses charged with Murder while we're at it? Obviously, it was their fault he died.

LOL.

Could not have been better put. I know some people who have dumped 20-40k in mods into their cars.....IMO senseless but I DO NOT CARE. If I wanna go to the casino and blow the money I work for and think I can double it then its my choice. Hell the way the market is I would rather goto the casino and through 100 on black and double it.

I say no. I can't have my wife gambling away all of our money. Keeping it out of state keeps her out of reach. It's against my political beliefs, but keeps my fucking wife in line.

SUM OF A BITCH........my wife just saw the "casino" add on TV and started clapping. She yells at me, "You know I'm voting for that one".

I'm fucked.

Been wading through this whole thread to get to a post that's relevant. This isn't about the "evils" of the casino. Shit, I lived in Vegas twice and never even came close to having a gambling problem. Some do, but not having one in state these days, won't stop someone from abusing a bad habit.

The idea of a casino is a good one as is almost any lucrative business. I am concerned that we are not being made aware of the whole truth. You know, I truly believe that any lie or misdirection should be prosecuted concerning anything to do with politics. I'm so sick of this shit.
