SpaceGhost
Back on topic, This freaking GM car could sell, I'm told this is the Caddy volt that will sell for too much money. I really like this car, but $10 says it will be made and cost a fortune. Even though it is essentially a Volt with leather and toys. http://gallery.me.com/bbotte/100036/DSC01867/web.jpg

SpaceGhost
That was then, this is an electric car, different technology, not just skin. Why only market it to the 1%ers? Make it so every middle class family could possibly own one. GM could have a homerun with the volt and this car, nobody else is doing this. Take advantage of it. The market will be hot for it. Wait until Summer.....
Skinner
I agree that will be on back order for a year out. As long as GM plays there cards right and has it priced to move it will sell. Or they will be stupid like they were with the EV-1 and not allow anyone to buy it only less it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Motors_EV1 Hell GM had a 5 year head start on everyone else and through it away. SpaceGhost
Yep. I hope they are smart. God the funny thing about the EV-1 is charging customers for body damage upon customers turning them in when the lease was up then crushing them. Gangster. TTQ B4U
I can appreciate the attempt, like some of it, hate others, but in the end, I don't feel there's going to be a market for a $40k Ford. Simliar to the G8...nice attempt with some great stuff but in a market that has better values out there in that price range....and those that will drive a domestic won't spend nearly what they are asking. Hopefully they price it full boat under $30k, then they may have a shot.

Sturg1647545502
jesus im not reading you sandy vaginas ford is picking up where toyota and nissan are leaving off. First off ford has the same consumor report reliablilty as toyota. as far as the car itself its a win. toyota, along with other car makers, realised that there is huge market population out there that wants to have a fun weekend car but also has to have a family/business responsible car. its why you see toyotas and nissans with a huge bump in HP. this is the next step. i also would have liked to seen a diesel, but companies are picking side. diesel or electric. ford and gmc's are going with electric. Draco-REX
Make it so every middle class family could possibly own one. This is exactly what the Big 3 need to do to get back on top. If they can't afford to price it that low, cut features. TCO is going to be huge as people start to count pennies. People don't NEED a cool LCD screen that shows how the power is being distributed. Most don't care, so why make them pay for it? Shaving the LCD/Nav/fancy radio will cut at least a grand from the cost. People WANT a Prius, but they can't afford one, can't get one, or hate how it looks. Put the Volt's driveline in a basic compact sedan and GM will have a winner. As long as they can keep up with demand, they'll get back on top. Of course, they'll probably do the idiotic thing and keep production low so demand stays high allowing them to charge more. Idiotic companies that do this don't seem to realize that 100 sales at 20% profit is more money than 50 sales at 30% profit. Yes, I'm looking at you Nintendo. TTQ B4U
you would have a legitimate 'zing' if ford had taken a bailout. newsflash: they havn't. you referenced "running these companies"....my bad for not seeing where you excluded Ford from your comment. Newflash....they didn't need to because back in 2006 they mortgaged everything they owned, including the Ford Logo, during their $23 billion borrowing spree...or as it's now known "a restructuring plan" So in essence they did took a private sector bailout package 3 years ago vs taking one from the gov't this year. same difference. only they didn't get the press from CNN and others because back then the issues was below the radar. now if they fail, who do you think will be asking the gov't for help.....those very same lenders Ford has on the hook right now. What they did is equivalent to my wife's bankruptcy clients...they take 2nd and 3rd mortgages out until they are completely in debt up to their eyeballs, just prolonging the inevitable with lines of credit. so while GM burned through cash, Ford borrowed against their assets. It's just a race to see who goes broke first. it could end up burning them in the end, because if they don't have any assets worth a shit, and GM and Chrysler don't make this thing work, there's zero chance or reason for the gov't to lend them money in the future. Hopefully they enjoy the good press and appearance of doing okay...because they aren't really doing okay. in fact they too posted a Record Loss For 2008 to the tune of $14.6B. Excuse me while I go spend my home equity line of credit and pretend I'm rolling in cash. Yeah baby!! Guest fist302
FUCK YEAH, a new SHO! Twin turbo? Awsome. Luxury 4 door that kicks ass, sounds like a sho to me they are doing it right. The looks dont impress me to much but the sho was never a head turner. For all those who are bitching about how bad the bailout 3 sucks, well yeah they fucked up but these are the kind of cars that give them hope of making it again someday. Direct injection twin turbo v6 with a paddle shifter gearbox is sure a hell of alot better than what they were doing ten years ago and pretty fucking awsome for a family sedan. Remember this car is not a fucking EVO or STI its a luxury family sedan with balls. So 350 hp regardless of the weight is great to me. Sure it wont smoke a corvette but im sure it will be fun on the way home from work. I just hope this brings back the hype for the SHO so that the make some more parts for my
