Aesthetic_Influx
So I just flipped on Rides on "HD Theater" via DirectTV. I've never watched this show but once before, and thought this would be good. Well, there are definitely some things that I have to chuckle at... and had to share. First, they're at a dyno with a Lexus GS300 (I believe that's the one with the V8) and the announcer is talking at the speed of smell about how "this car is going to be driven all the way up to the speed of 100 mph, which is a lot of RPM for a car not moving an inch." Yes, because gearing has nothing to do with RPM... good call. Then I get the idea of what the episode is about. They are putting the V8 from the GS model into an IS300. Nevermind the motor that is in the IS... or the one quite frequently dropped into it from a certain other RWD Toyota beast. Then they go on to complain about how hard it will be to fabricate new headers, make the engine fit, give it more power, and then of course that "the V8's airbox is so large, so we'll have to make a custom air intake." Sigh. I'm no master mechanic, welder, automotive designer, etc. but this just seems like a lot of hand-holding for viewers and a lot of really dated ideas. I'm not in any way talking down the V8 option... god knows some of my favorite cars are powered by such, but come on. Sorry, had to share my frustration with a simple tv show. I'm over it now. Alex L.
The GS300 still has the 3.0L 2JZ-GE I6 in it. The GS400, however, has a V-8 in it. Sounds like the same kind of car show BS that's on Spike on the weekends.
sol740
You should find out who the producers are and kill them in the face.

Thanks for the clarification. You should find out who the producers are and kill them in the face. LOL.

HotCarl
HA, i remember seeing that episode a long time ago. If i remember correctly they used a supra transmission aswell. Then Rys Millen took it for a test drive when it was done. I think the car was built for SEMA or something.
