Ramsey
cough mixed dog cough them boxer mixes will get you every time. oh, it looks like a mix for sure. The law i read included mix breeds.
TheHaze
cough mixed dog cough them boxer mixes will get you every time. It is at an officer's discretion what a dog is categorized as. You can register under something else, but that won't save you if there's ever a legislation change or domestic case.
V8 Beast
If it looks like an american bulldog, pit, etc get the insurance (even mixed breeds). If something happens and you dont have insurance they will call you an irresponsible owner and come after you with everything they have. evan9381
2 questions...not that i have one, but #1) where do you buy dog insurance and #2) how much does dog insurance cost? i understand the logic behind it, but it almost seems goofy to me

Guest mitsumodder
go get your dog trained for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Cert. then he/she is free from all breed specific legislation! It took me and my Staffordshire about 4 months in 3 classes and about $300 and now he is trained and certified.
B3NN3TT
My impression was that the insurance wasn't on the dog itself; it was just a required minimum of $100k liability coverage on your homeowner's policy.

kshymkiw83
I was wondering if anyone has had insurance on their pit and what kind of cost i would be looking at? Since I am one of the few I am sure who insures my 2 APBT, there are 2 recomended companies in Ohio, if you call Animal Control. There is a place in Lancaster that does it, and for my 2 dogs it is $600/ 6 months, or 1k/12 Months. The decisions on if your dog is a "Pit Bull" is completely up to the Animal Control Officer. If they say it is a "Pit Bull", and it resembles a "Pit Bull" then you get charged for no insurance. As well the judge who does these cases, is a tool. If you show up twice to his court for the same thing, he will take your dog, and have it put down. Saw it happen while I was there, for my failure to insure a "vicious dog". As well Good Canine Cert, doesn't get around the state law in Ohio. I asked about that since my Males are already 5x Registered. The Animal Control officer, stated there was no way around the Ohio Law.

I especially love the good looking women getting towed by them while on roller blades in little to nothing in the summer I KNOW you've seen that. ImUrOBGYN
go get your dog trained for the AKC Canine Good Citizen Cert. then he/she is free from all breed specific legislation! It took me and my Staffordshire about 4 months in 3 classes and about $300 and now he is trained and certified. Never heard this. Do you have any references? Either way, I'm sure if something went down (and as usual, the "pit bull looking" dog will get blamed:mad:) this would go a long way to helping your and your dog's side in a case. On a sidenote, I'm hoping for a pregnancy between these two before the end of the year. Get your insurane policies ready.
