Putty
This update is giving nothing that most jailbreakers haven't already had for years. Serious let down, IMO. Same old boring look. No custom homescreens. Atleast I know now what the new device will be running. This update makes me even more anxious to sell these iPhones for two nice HTC Evos in June. Rally Pat
The Apple Multitasking is kind of meh compared to Backgrounder for Jailbroken iPhones. If you have a 3GS, your phone never slows down running something like Pandora or Simplify Music 2 in the backgorund. The iAd stuff is neat, so is folders (even though, again, we already had that). The part that makes me fucking livid is that Steve STILL won't get his head out of his ass and allow unsigned apps. You want to stop jailbreakers, Stevie? Then let us install whatever the fuck we want. /drop the mic.

I think they are going to try to squeeze one more year out of the 3GS, but the test 4G iPhones are/were the same formfactor as a 3GS. justinwebb
i just dont think they would not come out with one, that would let the competition kill them. I am fine with the same size and style phone just was curious about specs

So what is it you were looking for outside a custom home screen What value does HTC offer? Not just features, where's the value?

As we've seen, Apple has banned them from the store so in essence if you want to buy the phone and JB it, they don't care...just stay away from their store after that then. Personally, I agree with their standing on not wanting porn, wanting to maintain their control over a clean interface and to maintain a bit more control over those apps going to the competition. When you mod a car, you blow your warranty. Looking at the legit updates they are making and saying meh....we have that already is like half the folks on CR saying the new ZR1 is shit because they've made their car faster their way. Success all depends on how you measure it. Apple is doing very well and leading the sales figures in this area and they know they won't please everyone. However, they are pretty confident they will win over the majority.

TTQ B4U
and they never banned anyone other then a few people on the dev teams so that is false info Just going by what I've heard. Either way, I never saw a need to pursue JB it after looking into what it made available by doing so. Don't see the benefit or apps that I want bad enough to warrant fucking with my phone. Maybe Mr. Jobs can prepackage the new iPhone 4X with a bib, airplane spoon and some Gerber.

IMO while one can still get porn on the iPhone (not that I do) I still appreciate his corp attempt to keep it clean.

I'd rather stay with my JB'ed 3.1.2. There's no benefit for me to upgrade.

IVRINGS
Now if they would let the phones use Wifi for calls I would be happier then pig in shit.
SpaceGhost
They do, download Skype. When 4.0 is live in july Skype will run in the background all the time and to can get calls. So as of now you can place calls on Skype, and in July you can make and receive calls.
