Tindall2006
So I just moved here for flight school and I do not own any furniture. I also only work about 3 hours a day for the time being and will be on this schedule for at least the next three months. So instead of spending a bunch of money on furniture i plan on building my own, and learning about wood working. First up is a coffee table. like this. http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f374/tindall2006/Mobile%20Uploads/v8coffeetable.jpg The second is a Dining table like so... http://woodgears.ca/table/simple_table.jpg So far the progress... http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f374/tindall2006/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG00216.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f374/tindall2006/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG00218.jpg What ya'll think? Not Brian
I wouldn't want an engine table unless I were in a shitty apartment or dorm etc.. but it's pretty cool
TTQ B4U
I wouldn't want an engine table unless I were rich and it was from my Ferrari that I just go bored with Fixed.
hpfiend
if my wife would go for it I would already have the coffee table like so- I think an aluminum block would be more ideal though.. how are you going to move it? Is it on a lower level? Are the floors in good shape?
AJ
i don't have an engine table but i do have race slick end tables and a tire bottom with a 20" rim top with a glass top. they are in my man cave.
evan9381
i'd have an engine table if the engine looked nice. that heap of dirty rusty shit up there though, no way. maybe the OP has plans to make it look a lot better
Tindall2006
I have access to a sandblasting booth and a full paint boot on base a minimum cost. I also have A LOT of time on my hands. I live in a apartment kind of in the ghetto. As long as I an move it to clean I'll be fine. I will be taking pictures as it comes along. I do have to wait until Wednesday for the auto craft to open up.

wnaplay1647545503
Anytime you deal with wood you first must ask yourself what you want the overall appearance quality to look like. You can make almost anything with cheaper less quality wood and for the most part as long as the process to create the piece is reletively the same, it will turn out. However the issue comes up that the overall intended look will be compromised with lesser wood due to their cut from less quality wood and their ability to accept certain finishes such as stains. I ndo alot of woodworking and almost always use cheap wood. I smooth everything with bondo and paint solid colors or soloid color stains to hide the woods quality. Anything I plan on using a transparant or semi-transparant stain on, I go with better quality wood(menards has a good selection) and always use wood condition prior to applying the stain.
