got my lift installed

finally. had a difficult time finding someone to put it together for me. its a bendpak 9000st---pretty much an entry level bendpak, which will be more than enough for my needs (mostly oil changes). haven't gotten the sliding center jack yet, but that's next on the list. i resisted the urge to bolt it into the ground--still feels solid when lifting my car, and i can move it around with the casters that came with it. i've decided not to store a car under it, i can fit all my cars in there right now without doing that

Instead of bolting it to the ground, it looks like you had a recieve type thing cut in the floor. Looks like the flat part of the bottom of the poles are about a inch lower than everything else.

 

Looks awesome though.

Oh wow. I thought it was just sitting on concrete that was unfinished or something (Looks like yours has something over the garage floor). Looks great though. How sturdy is the lift without it being bolted down? Without a car on it, is it easily moveable?

i haven't 'rocked' the lift with the car on it, but it feels stable when you let the car down onto the safety stops. with no car on it, and the 6' casters, it is easily movable with 2 people---we easily moved it onto and across the carpet with 2 people. the garage floor is professionally finished, hence my hesitation to drill holes in it.

i live in a town of 30k people an hour north of milwaukee. there's a decent scene in milwaukee. plenty of older muscle cars here, but obviously, nothing like columbus. oddly, there's two other terminators in my town, several gto's, two other c6z's, and a zr1.

I also have a 4-post lift. Had it about a year now. No need to bolt it down. You'll notice that it is MORE stable with a car on it. The way these things work...everything tightens up under weight. I assembled mine myself and it was a huge job. Good idea getting someone to do it for you. Did you get a caster kit? mine is really easy to roll around the shop. Looking at yours...it would be cool to wheel it out into the higher part of the shop if you occasionally need more clearance. I have one rolling jack and then a jack tray. I was really worried about how it would work out. I was really torn between a 2 post and 4 post for this reason. But this configuration works just fine. I just did a 4-wheel hub replacement on a F250 4x4 crew cab and the lift handled it all fine. You raise one end with the rolling jack...place stands in the jack tray and then roll it down to the other end and leave it there locked. The runways act as a nice, long, flat work surface under each wheel.
